dis is just a load of over extravagant bullshit . dubai is in complete financial meltdown , its just too much ,wit dat massive tower being built just because dat fucken sheike muhamed wanted to have da tallest tower in da world , fair enough if he could make money out of it but dat thing is just gona rot away . nobody in their right mind would buy an appartment in it or rent out an office and as for dat meydan race course ,dat is one of them most waisteful and rediculous thing ever built ever

That is one of the reasons why there is a worldwidw recession. A lot of countries depend on our market and what we do is waste money on sports stadiums that are not needed. The world is not going to end because of this recession and in order to move on tomorrow's landmarks need to be constructed now. New York City needs to have the WTB because the skyscrapres in NY are losing their status as world landmarks and i'm sure you know why. NYC needs landmarks to maintain tourism and a good economy.
not really hahaha all of the money they got was from oil, because dubai´s oil is the best in the world and the expensiest, and dubai is the city with most oil in the world so you can imagine how much money they make rigth?
wish there will be a spaceport, supersonic superconductor holotrain,mid-air balloon hotel underwater city and other possible method in a decade or silly more lol.
no, br33ck I do not agree with you, the future is much more important than the past. You see Dubai is a city that is always moving forward, whereas cities like New York, London, are cities with a boring history that no one cares about. Ask the average student how much they love history. Ask the average student how much they love sci-fi themed buildings? The next generation cares more about looking forwards not backwards. Next time make a smart analysis Br33ck because we're moving forward.
Br33ck this city is Americanized, so what? To be honest real estate is starting to become interesting thanks to Dubai. Oh and by the way Br33ck everyone is greedy, the difference between a greedy entrepreneur and an average person is that the entrepreneur does something with there greed or there desire of importance and the average person does nothing. It's thanks to these greedy entrepreneurs that you have amazing buildings, television, electronics, cars, air planes, etc.
As any sci-fi lover, seeing this city and knowing what will b done there... it is a dream come true. But as a worker, such a place is a nightmare. Resorts and such places are a sad place for the people who work on them. So is construction. Work 8hrs in ANY of those places and the brightness of Dubai will seem dull. Real life is hard, and places like this make it harder. Truly, it makes me sad...
I agree, going forward is the best. To repeat its course gives no meaning and to turn back onto history is not worth it. Most of us would live in slums like the ancestors did if we acted like that.
Dubai is the "Las Vegas" of the middle east. It's flashy, but no substance, no culture. NYC, London, Berlin, etc. These cities have history. Wild architecture is not a sustainable commodity for running a city.
That was my point. I agree with you. These projects, this whole city seems very Americanized. American investment in this new trend etc. That is not a good thing. Seems like America ruins everything with greed and bullshit.
America has a lot of tools, resources, tech, creativity; but in the land of fast-food, 1-time-use, fashion-trendy lifestyle, ALL of this goes to H. Let me agree with you: GREED IS NOT GOOD. It is an obsetion. IF, a project like this could be seen as something more than fashion, then I would give my thumbs-up. But corporate world has no objective. Its just greed and pointless self-indulgement. I know it, for I'm Mexican, and know what 3rd world country is.
br33ck, I am torn between amazement in the raw skill required to create something so... impresive. Makes me fill like i'm in a dream... or a waking nightmare. I could not agree more with you. I've been in LV and it is as you said: a shallow place full of bright lights designed to hide the misery of those honest hard-working citizens. Construction DEMANDS SACRIFICE. 2 all who critizes you: go to a construction site.
History is not as important as the future. Dubai is trying to become the city of the future and I give two thumbs up to all of their amazing projects.
I want to move there. My city is becoming so crappy. They make excuses on why stuff can't get built like in the case of the World Trade Center site. It's been 7.5 years since 9/11 and very little progress has been made on the memorial and office towers. Our transit system is stuck in the past not realizing that these days they have to communicate information through electronics and automated announcements. They put up paper and cardboard signs plus uninformative automated announcements.
its not just the tallest building from what I know its like a whole place. UAE got lots of other companies in other countries many people are gonna go travel and work in Dubai. One of my friend in Brazil works for this IT company and he is send off to Dubai for traveling work.
I hope tt one day Dubai will be the New York! But its not only abt the buildings n structures. Duai should also develop in modern industries like nanotechnology, biomedical sciences n of cus academics. It shall have universities comparable to tt of Oxford n Cambridge!
dude u cant compare this small city to NYC... new york has more population than the whole of UAE...lol dubai will never and i repeat will never be compared to new york, london and all the other real cities..i mean Amman is a real city...not dubai...dubai is an immitation of a city...no real problems like poverty, elder people, etc...
i swear on the Bible/Koran/Holy Jewish scriptures that Dubai is far greater than NYC cuz day dun got bums/druguies/killers walking around and have more tourist attraction site!!
to me dubai is like new miami

I love the plans for Dubai. Soon there will be a plan for an 8000+ foot building with over 550 floors. We should build that in New York.

The early 80's shot combined with one from 2005 rocks...
They should hang a big one of it in Dubai itself (arround 2010), or are they to proud these days to show were they came from?:)

Yes but imagining these places built to help humanity grow to achieve things that god has never achieved, its worth working for, isnt it?
