I had a 5 cm stent put in 2 weeks ago and I'm doing great. I had a 99% blockage on the main artery that runs down the left side of my heart. I was having chest pains before the procedure. True there are some risks with the procedure but the alternative is a heart attack and possibly death if you don't have it done. I ate meat and eggs 3 -4 times a week!
no ... dissection may occur. There is a procedure called rotablation but it has incresed risk for artery dissection and rupture. If plaque gets free it will migrate distally and the patient will have an MI for sure (if not protected with a filterwire)
No, you could damage the lining of the artery - which would permit blood to invade the media layer and cause an aneurysm - and the debris from the plaque would get clogged in other arteries around the body, causing strokes, myocardial infarctions, and loss of blood supply to parts of other organs.
i have already undergone stent implantation and my heart stop beating in the process.. luckily i survive... they say i have a little % of surviving i dont know how little it is.. i have'nt visited the doctor it"s too expensive.
Good presentation!

Quick question
Is it not possible for them to use a metal tip and rub it against the plaque to break it up rather than just leaving it where it is

also wouldnt the inflation of the balloon create a mini heart attack as flood flow wouldnt be able to get thru
they say it only take a short time blockage and musckle dies quickly in the heart

naw they inflate and deflate the ballon the give it the flow of blood also muscle dies in minutes not seconds
