  • I think that's her husband Frank Butler in the film as well.

  • fortunately it's silent; otherwise, it'd be so annoying hearing that shotgun repeatedly

  • This is crazy. My instructor talked about her in a history class I took this last semester and now I get to see her in motion? That's pretty cool

  • girls with guns, the first fetish ever filmed?

  • I'd tap that.

  • I want to play her in Halo.

  • wow

  • No health and safety in those days.

  • The size of the studio restricted Annie from showing her "real" marksmanship. Edison just wanted to get a little piece of history for future generations to see. It's a tribute to her he caught her on a kinetoscope, the beginnings of true motion pictures. Edison was one great inventor.

  • My great grandpa shot with Annie once. That's just a story passed down..who knows if it's true...Neat footage.

  • lol

  • LOL, I cant believe I wrote that. WHEW! I must've been dipping into the good stuff that night.

  • thats a shame

  • LOL, thanks for the sympathies.

  • @JackieMagenta Don't blame Annie because you got an E, blame yourself.

  • She learned at 9 y.o. by hunting for her family since her dad died when she was only 6 y.o. She was the 5th of 7 children. That guy is Frank Butler, her husband and crazy shooter too but he became her manager since she was owning him. 7 years after that video (in 1901) she was involved in a train accident and got 5 operations but she miraculously recoverded and kept shooting like a champion. At 28m she got 4472 of 5000 balls thrown in the air and she cut a playing card in 1/2 on the thin side

  • fuck yes back then everyone knew how to handle a rifle.

  • Sitting Bull had a nickname for Annie Oakley-

    "Little Sure-Shot".

  • this is just about a women shooting at targets! i love that shotgun workout!

  • this beats xfactor, and that was more than a 100 years ago, she would turn in her grave if she saw the entertainment these days.

  • This woman was a sensation in her day, and possibly the best rifle shot who ever lived.

  • omg, think, that vid was recorded 114 years ago...!!!

  • -.- fail

  • sorry mate didnt mean to hurt your feelings i take that back

  • Wow. I am speechless. HOWEVER, they say she was the best shooter of her time, by being a woman. But she didnt look to be the greatest shooter in this video. But Annie and Thomas are the shit still!

  • Amazing, the difference a 100 years makes - Little did She know she would be seen World Wide via Youtube

  • Thats true to death..

  • Wow!

  • Annie Oakley is so cool

  • And the legend lives - thanks to Edison

  • Yes Edison, WOW - Amazing !

  • it's amazing. thanks to edison we get to see annie and her famous shot. amazing.

  • but shes so close to the target.....

  • yea but think about it honestly. could you shoot all of those that fast, how long do you think it would take for you to practice to even do that? however she isnt that great she missed the guys headat the end :]

  • ya, you do have a point.

  • I can't tell if she's hitting the ones in the air.

  • i heard tht she could split a playing card side ond and shoot it five or six times before it hit ground

  • Straight from wikipedia. :P

  • Wow! shes a dead eye shot!

  • Women and guns, my two favorite things.

  • that's an amazing bit of film; so much great stuff on youtube.

  • The fact Annie was a woman was why people were so amazed.
