When setting up for trick shot why do some people tap the top of a ball?

@DangerouslyDaniel It puts a tear in the cloth allowing the ball to stay there and fall in that exact spot when you set it up again. If you go to a demonstration, Mike will have already been there and prepped the table so it sets up faster.
