banding is too...im new to tha natural world! im so confused! any tips? ive also been going to a lady who refuses to cut my hair saying that it will go into "shock." but she cut a majority of my perm off. when i wash it itlooks like a lil cute curly fro.i guess im doin all this rambling to ask, how do i get that look and is it bad that shes pressing my hair?
@hershegurl05 I apologize if someone has already responded to your post or if you found the right info on your on. But if not, hair does not go into "shock" it's not a heart and it's dead anyway. Maybe your hair dresser will, LOL! I have heard of some people having problems with "scab" hair and it being a result of growing out hair damaged from over processing it or it's the hair that is between natural and relaxed hair. It goes away with some TLC. Hope this helps.
Have you ever tried to twist or braid you hair and then band? Just wondering if I could try banding with a twist out, or if it would jack up the twist pattern. What do you think?
@GrowingThere No I haven't tried that since I don't need to twist my hair for the desired definition. It probably would work though because the bands don't alter my pattern. It's like it holds the pattern into place while strething.
@GrowingThere you can also stretch twists by braiding them and letting them dry. I did this about a week ago and I absolutely love the results. It was curly twists, I'm gonna post pictures of it soon. My hair is waist length but shrinks up to shoulder length when i put twists in. When I added the braids it only shrunk to mid back length and the curls were a hairstyle on their own.
I love the banding technique results and it looks so easy to do! Did you use Miss Jessies butter creme and the merangue or just the merangue? Love your vids!!
@jujajun99 For sure! My hair is dry in the morning so it's perfect for winter. I get the "wash and go" effect without walking around with shrunken wet hair lol!
Nice vid! I can't get with the Jane Carter leave-in conditioner. The smell is too strong! Your hair came out pretty! What exactly did you use for the bandind. A goody band!
@DeeNT1 For sure! On MY hair, twist outs look horrible on wet hair. The only time twist outs turn out good on me is when they're done on blow dried hair and I don't like to blow dry my hair on a regular basis. The banding doesn't even take me 20 minutes and I still keep my curl pattern without the extreme shrinkage that occurs with twist outs done on wet hair.
Finally I found someone that does it on wet hair! :)

Is it really worth doing? I am just asking because it seems you could get the same results as twisting or braiding.
