  • the B-3 intro is fantastic...

  • Anyone know who was hammering it out on the B-3 on this tune?

  • actually I think Terry Reid is the all time best singer the world has ever seen, what more can you say.

  • Reid covered this song? EPIC.

  • I gotta have this album.

  • Are you kidding me?! This guy is GENIUS!!!!!!

  • Awesome, right up there with Paul Rodgers (arguably) as one of the best British Rock voices ever...

  • @LightweightUK2007 I will agree with you there. Paul Rogers and Terry Reid are the best rockers ever. I did not hear either one when I was in England in the 70's. Thank my lucky stars, I have seen them both in the past two years. I don't think I would die in peace had I not experienced the greatest voices of rock.

  • I saw him with Cream at Madison Square in '68. Even with so many brain cells fried, I can't forget that show.

I still play his first album as one of my favorites

  • I NEED THIS GIG, please tell me where i can get a copy, I've looked all over!

  • this has to be my favorite song...... i cant think of a bad version. screamin joe hawkins, marilyn manson, creedence... a couple others that i know of. terry reid is good. as far as this song goes i still like mansons the best..... but still. i love a good cover.

  • Was obsessed with TR since first LP came out. Saw him in Phillie, but was so blown away by the live voice that came out of this tiny person I don't remember a thing about the concert. Listening to this, anyone can understand Aretha Franklin's 1968 comment..."The only things happening in England are the Beatles, the Stones and Terry Reid." His phrasing, his guitar groove, his improv of lyrics and melody, nothing --- nothing ever like him.

  • Just perfect....thanks

  • I've loved Terry's music since the beginning. Nobody to this day, I should say very few people have even heard of him. There is an old movie from around 69' or 70' called groupies that he is in. I highly recommend it. It's out there.

  • aw man this is so good.

  • wow

  • love finding new classic music like this every once in a while it helps me through the shit that's out today.

  • This is truly GREAT music. I got put on to Terry's music by watching Devil's Rejects and I've been loving Terry's work ever since. Must've been something special to see this cat performing back in the day.

  • My father got me into Terry after he kept banging on about getting hold of his stuff on the internet for him - I'd never heard of him until 2005.......Jesus I must have been hiding under a rock since my birth in 1970 lol

  • @xxxstarmanxxx ..me too! just found this guy..'67 for me..Biggest Robert Plant fan I am and shall ever be-we are blessed to have his music,to be sure!!..that being said..this guy was/is something very special!!..really,really good stuff!!..very few cut from this cloth anymore...but chris robinson, chris cornell-YES...jack white-NO!....this era truly was the genesis/renaissance..Terry sounds just like Plant doing".i'm gonna quit you babe"..HIGH praise indeed!

  • @whisperinwindcried67 you got it a bit wrong, remember he is the one who recommended Plant. Even R Plant says he would have been a better singer. Check out the interviews. Plant imitates Reid, not vice versa. I saw Plant at Earl's Court in '73 or '74 and he can't really compare to Terry Reid. It was the 5th show and Plant really screwed up Stairway to Heaven. Believe me, Terry at 60 is better than Plant at 26 or whatever. I love Plant but , lets give Terry his due.

  • as much as i enjoy terry's studio recordings, it is live where he really shines. i love the way he lets the songs find their own pace. he is less concerned with rigid structure. that is evident here, from 1968, right through today having seen him earlier in 2008. for 40 years he has remained true to himself. this honesty is appreciated by his audience.

  • I agree - Terry live is a totally different experience to his studio albums

  • i tell you why...

    he can control his voice

  • too true!

  • To see Joplin and Terry Reid live around this time had to have floored people. The absolute freedom and power of their voice was unparalleled. Thanks for the uploads. Outstanding effort!

  • Quite interested that you picked up on the Joplinesque feel of this gig - Sonme fine stuff from this fillmore gig - its like you have this 19 yr old kid - rubbing shoulders with everyone that was huge at the time - Its like Terry was just absorbing musical styles like a sponge - i guess a 19yr old would be totally inspired by what he was hearing while touring and supporting - I love the way it rubs off on him here. Justin

  • here's my request(s) too LOL...

not even sure if it exist:

terry singing any of these tunes LIVE at this age:

    mayfly

    stay with me baby

    ...

cheers for a great set from terry.

  • I might just be able to quench your thirst there - I have a friend who is gonna send me a recording I lost some time ago in a harddrive crash - Terry Reid - Live @ The Borderline '74 - I sure Stay with me is on it.....Hopefully have it this weekend!

  • Definitely yes to Mayfly live from this time period! I second the request.

  • More news on this recording - It is infact live at the bottom line 76 - I've not heard it anywhere - It was Mp3 tagged as 72 - but listening to Terry's voice on it and researching the timeline on the Bottom Line website leads me to believe that its from the 76 gig - There are people on Terry's forum that can confirm that - there are a few guestbook comments about 76 Bottom Line gig - TRACKS BOOTED ARE = 1. Faith To Arise 2. Seed Of Memory 3. Ooh Baby (Make Me Feel So Young) 4. Brave Awakening..

  • Soz guys still no mayfly or stay with me - i'll keep my head down working on it - these new tracks will be up for you to listen to sunday pm J.

  • those are exactly the requests i would have made.

  • wow, for those like myself who were terry's great fans living abroad even with only his albums, we don't realise how much we missed from not being able to attend terry's live performance esp at this time of his life (19 years old).

did jimmy page really wanted terry reid or what? i think if you listen to robert singing,

you will see how much led z was really terry reid. cheers for sharing with us these incredible live gigs of terry's.

  • I hear what you're saying - I was just about to enter the world when these gigs where played! totally missed out! I'm always very careful about doing the Zep v's Terry thing as it seems to upset Zep fans (lol) - When I hear Zep play 'Baby I'm gonna leave you' ..........all I can think of is that its so TERRY REID!

  • "...it seems to upset Zep fans" - exactly! They cannot handle the simple truth, that Terry is a superior singer and influenced Robert. They're quick to point out that Terry didn't get as popular as LZ. But LZ is a band. Terry is still a legend in his own right. Robert on his own, WITHOUT LZ?...... That's the point.

  • Yeah I think theres hella Terry in the jam.

  • IMHO the best thing i've ever heard him sing live

  • Fantastic - Stunning version of this classic track!

  • All right love, do you take requests? It would have been fabulous to see Penny or Summer Sequence from the same gig... if you don't mind.

And - thanks for posting, of course! This gig was played a month after Terry's 19th birthday. The beginning of his love affair with California.

  • Ello - yup I have those also - will get them up today - fantastic gig!

  • nice to hear this.
