Oh my, how evil socialized medicine is!!!! Interestingly ALL America's friends and allies have it: Canada, UK, Germany, the whole of western Europe and yet statistically they live longer than Americans. Stop this fear mongering if a public option is socialism then America is the only country advanced country in the world that is not socialist yet that doesn't translate in a higher income for Americans, better standard of living compared to the mentioned countries.
i am sure every american would have some experience where your insurance comanpy will not cover a particular medicine. or will not pay for a certain medical situation. do you have any idea why that happens? that is because the hmos and drug companies can get away with doing that.
where do you get your details from??the new administration has clearly laid out the ways by which healthcare will be paid for. it all depends on how efficient your system is. now how big your population is.
Further with the current system, the drug companies and hmos exploit the numerous loopholes that are therfe in the law, not to mention the inablilty of the common American to fight these million dollar companies because it turns out the judicial system in very expensive as well.

socialized medicine would kill people....bad doctors with no alliance to the patient only to the gov......visit a a veterans hospital and you will see how great the gov. does when they run medicine
And when have you ever had an experience with socialized health care. And why would it lead to bad doctors. Most doctors here in Spain lead a somewhat double life...one foot in the public system and another in their own private practice with private insurance. Most public hospitals are large teaching centers and are fairly academic, not unlike university hospitals in the States. My family and I are 100% covered and also have private insurance, our choice. I sleep easy at night.
It's called universal health care. It's nothing to be scared of. In fact, it works damn well when properly funded. Why the fear-mongering over this issue in the US?
i think universal healthcare would never work in the US because the population is too big and it would end up being too expensive. Canada has roughly 33M people, Britain about 66M, France 66M. Even a very socialist system like China doesn't have universal healthcare because they have too many people.
It works in smaller countries but if you "run with the big boys" unfortunately you're on your own.
We like our healthcare in Canada. There are problems, to be sure. Put to a vote, we would never trade it for yours. No question about it. If you are well off, your's is fine, if not, good luck.
"...seek to destroy American and her allies..." How many times has Palin said this again and again? FAR too many. She doesn't even bother to change the wording--too much effort and brain power is required I suppose.
Still, I would love to see a good debate on hardball about socialised medicine.
The guy on this clip was a terrible defender.
We do need somebody who understands a few of the systems and can give the good and the bad of each, then remind people how bad ours is.
They mentioned the argument of waiting lines and rations, but we have people dying in america or with other issues because they cant afford to pay for anything.
Rick Hertzberg hit it outta the park. They need to have him on more often. And Obama is going to win BIG tomorrow. I only wonder if the Dems are going to get the filibuster proof Senate needed to render obstructionist Republicans like Mitch McConnell irrelevant. Republicans will be able to block the meaningful reform the American people are crying out for if the Dems don't get a filibuster proof majority. And if the Dems don't bring change they will be looking at massive losses in 2 years.
it was 49-49 in the senate, with 1-2 indies, and in the house it was less then 60% vote which is especially bad for dems considering some are conservatives and liebermans. They felt they had no power and were way too cautious.
I dont think to many dems like Pelosi or Reid. I dont, but the dems didnt have many options anyway except to show alot of bravado which would tighten up the repubs even more.
Yeah but we also get healthcare every now and then in the uk. And I wouldn't trade it for a thing

your argument does not have a lot of substance to it. higher the population lower the possibility of universal healthcare working??

So your point isn't that socialized medicine is bad. It's that YOUR government is just too incompetent.
