Umm the interviews suggested that she was dipN in drugs back during the bodyguard. Confirmed on the latest interview with OPRAH... but also briefly stated during Dianne's interview...
but come on REALLY now... she hasnt had enough to get back. I think she is pressured to come back - she just needs to sit back and relax. Its ok - humbly bow down and take care of self! Falsetto and her type of voice has been damaged due to smoke! It takes YEARS to remove SMOKE TAR and weed residue! #REST
And she didn't lower this song to sing live. I think the song she lower most time are I Have Nothing and I Will Always Love You (last chorus in 1993 and whole song after 1993)
It's a pity that she never did an extremely high part at "I got it, it got it baby baby baby" but I understand it. Singing those parts a lot would be very damaged to her voice. And who care if she doesn't have 5 octaves range? She got EVERYTHING else, in every single aspect (the voice, the look), she didn't even have to concentrate on sounding perfectly like other because her voice was already perfect. All she had to do is to let her emotion do the rest.
LORD help me I will NEVER understand why Arista did not do a LIVE special from this time with her. '94 was also when she should have done a Christmas CD, it would have done a lot better than the One Wish CD. Thanks for posting this! What a great treat!!!!
Whitney done switch the song all around I love it. That heffa and her background singers are the best ever during this era. Olivia and them girls were the baddest in game along with Lisa Fisher.
I heard from a friend last night this was way better in person then videos could ever capture. He was days multiple nights, and she was beasting the whole time and the biggest names ever were in front row. My lord I wish arista would put footage on CD of all the Radio City Hall dates, cause I have feeling this was not even the best of the Radio City Hall nights. When we think it is the best with Whitney it gets even better. She always surpass my expectations each and every time.
umm there is most def a backing track in the bridge....she might be singing with it at times...but you can tell at 358 she stops singing and the backing track is playing...i mean it sounds like mixed studio vocals...she always did that ....shes great but she cant hit that note every night on tour
The bridge is live here, it just her and Olivia. She only start using the track when Olivia left and sometimes when her voice was hoarse. But all Bodyguard tour it was either Whitney by herself or Olivia harmonizing with her at that part don't get it twisted.
Singers who are known for their high notes/soprano on records...like Whitney, Celine and Mariah can not sing like that every night on a tour. The vocal chords are not made for that abuse. Some singers power lower notes to compensate for higher notes...like Patty Labelle who is also a great singer. Other singers play with their vocal tones and add some high notes on their album, then do better on live performances.....like Beyonce. Whitney must adopt to her new voice and capitlize on it.
yea but she lipped the high part of this bridge....and she always lips it....sometimes she just lets the backing track sing while she dances.....i love Whitney to death but she is human
How I know is not backing track is listen to I'm note 3:48-3:51 in studio version I ............. got it. she does I'm live, so right there its fully her voice. Olivia comes in with her in I got it I got it yeah part, but its both of there high powerful sopranos.
There is no backing track 3:48-3:51 I'm........... is very different from the original I got it................ is that part she sung I'm and the notes are higher than studio rendition a notch or so............ Whitney was on point these whole concert belting notes all types of octaves. She was not playing.
There is no track it was Whitney and Olivia McClurkin harmonizing with each other. Whitney higher but Olvia does notes on the orginal, but Whitney soprano is notch higher for harmony. The play around like that. When Whitney soprano is not full there, she goes lower, and Olivia higher. There was never a backing track when Olivia was there, cause when Whitney could do it, Olivia would do it. Once she left Whitney got the track sometimes only!
@kmaur21 actually, there is a backing track. She doesn't sing at the highest note, but sings along with "got it got it got it yeah. She does this everytime, even at the Soul Train Music Awards the following year. But I still love the f**k out of her.
@TheLanard No it is not backing track seriously and the I ya ya is the highest part anyway which she does sing, it sounds here it could be a B5 or higher at that part, and she does the whole without track. Her range in prime was retarded!
@TheLanard exactly, but he always says she does things that she doesn't actually does...like hitting higher than G#5 in chest...we are real fans, we don't need to fake facts about her to prove she's one of the greatest singer ever.
@bixxius Exactly!!! Real fans keep it real. There's no point in making her out to be better than she is. I'm not even gonna argue with him. Being on tour is brutal on the voice. Just because she could hit it doesn't mean she SHOULD hit it, especially every night, at the end of her show. Plus, there's no reason to hit it that time and no other. Thank you, bixxius.
@TheLanard Shut up please these notes are higher than her studio recording at 3:48-3:51 and she has done several times on her tour. Her range was limitless and ridiculous. This was fully live too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@kmaur21 her range was NOT limitless, her range was NOT what made her one of the best, it wasn't even that wide! what made her one of the best was the purity, clarity, richness and power of her voice, her vibrato, her midrange belts, etc.
how the hell can those notes be higher than her studio recording if her live performances of this song were always in a lower key? come on, simply compare this with the studio recording, it's impossibile you don't notice it.
@bixxius boo boo Whitney has went all over the octave scale in 5th octave 6th and 7th octave live in concert. Listen to Kolding all the Man I Need a Bb6 right there effortless too and live. She also has mixed her belts way higher G5# she does note like B5/C6 in mixed voice in So Emotional live in 80's Whitney in 1987 hit a D7 in Control NYC so what are you talking about.
@bixxius Both of you know nothing about her range live and discredit her range live. Whitney has hit several notes all over the octave scale from very low to the top of the piano and all live and with ease in her prime!
@kmaur21 You're obviously tone-deaf, with no knowledge of pitch. I would bring up my B.A. in Music Education and Classical Vocal Training, but one with good ears doesn't need all that to clearing hear you're wrong!!!! But you and I are two different kinds of Whitney fans. It's not worth arguing over it anyway...she can't even hit these notes anymore, much less sustain anything. I've got "Nothing But Love" for you, kmaur21.
@bixxius Please I know the performances I have seen and Whitney has went all over the octave scale in her belts and range. Her range was ridiculously wide and effortless in her prime. She could hit any note she felt like hitting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@bixxius Please Whitney has hit higher than G5# she hit a B5 in her Nothing But Love tour in chest in one of her concerts and with ease. Whitney could hit any note she felt like it!
@kmaur21 how come then that everytime you say she hit a note, everybody else contradicts what you said? and no, she didn't hit a b5 in chest voice in her nothing but love tour, she can barely hit and sustain higher than C#5
@bixxius Please Whitney easily went above F5 in Milan concert several times on her Nothing But Love tour and she did hit a B5 in her I love the lord performance overseas so next.
@bixxius I cannot believe what this person is saying. Whitney ONLY had 3 OCTAVES, with a few more notes on top. People get range mixed up with strength and volume. She had a healthy range, but it was more so power in all her octaves that made her voice special. And the fact she was so skinny added to the mystique. He must be lying, because no one can be that close-minded and delusional. He's definitely just throwing notes around to try to sound like he knows what he's talking about.
@TheLanard Some stupid people think QUANTITY over QUALITY. I can whistle like nobody's business. Does that make ME a GREAT singer w/a huge range? By some artists and their low-rent, ghetto-ass fans it does.
@kmaur21 You really need to listen to the studio version. These notes are NOT higher than the studio's. Actually, this live version is in a lower key. Also, learn what an octave is.
when whitney ever lip singed she always harmonized with her own voice if her track was high soprano she would mix it with her power alto or vise versa whitney is just plain phenominal!!!!!!!
Thank you Whitneygreatest she always harmonizing with herself. This bridge is fully live though and she goes even higher than studio and belts A5/Bb5 in chest at the last I ya ya part..... This in full chest not mix voice either.
Super soprano Whitney! Listen to this woman belt in full voice. She the only one that could belt that high in full chest not mix and hold her diction!!!!! Man she was BEAST in her prime!!!
yeah that high part was usually supported by the back track... i seen a performance when she lipped it.. actually.. alot of that high soprano was lipped on this specific record...which is rare.she never lips.
whitney always have been tall and statuess just plain gorgeouse like whitney always say i will never be fat!!!! my girl you normally have to be 300 pounds to sing like her anyway and that makes her extra special little ol whitney standing up there singing like that you go girl holla!!!
Nippy was belting her behind of in this clip. Back in this day, she could belt any high note she felt like it with absolute power and vibrato. Amazing!!!!!!!!
Umm the interviews suggested that she was dipN in drugs back during the bodyguard. Confirmed on the latest interview with OPRAH... but also briefly stated during Dianne's interview...
