Basic psychology teaches us that if a kid is made to do something they would not normally like, and then they're rewarded for it, they will continue to do it and eventually come to like doing it. That doesn't mean it's right.

They try to project what they always wanted or thought they were supposed to be onto their children. The reason they're fat is most likely because their parents never told them they were pretty and decided eating was the way to go. The occasional skinny one on these shows will most likely do the worst, mainly because they don't thrive to their make up for their "lack of beauty".

Now tell me, how's that not child abuse? Inflicting pain to a child to the point where they howler out "MUMMY PLEASE DON'T!!" is both physical and psychological abuse.

@akissy no, this show just allows spoilt brats and stuck up, fake mothers on it because if it was a well behaved child then the show wouldn't be popular? not everyone is like this, this show is a bad example! fair enough some parents do force their children into pageants but not everyone? it's rude to put your opinion on everyone pageant contestant, so no, its all child abuse, child porn or everyone child will grow being a slut or fake, but like in everything there is the bad side.

While it might not be everything, it's a common thing in pageants, from what I've seen and this show isn't the only one I've seen. Also, please learn your English correctly, it was hard to make out the meaning of your comment... and no, English not being your Mother Language isn't an excuse, mine is Spanish, so yeah...
