  • excelent bro! very usefull to understand the freak steve vai's mind hehe.

  • can you get the solo part for me? the one before the ending part. just like the intro but its moving. thanks

  • thx dude :)

  • This is the best explanation of anything I've ever seen on YouTube!!! Thank you!!! Everybody else just plays something at full speed and then tells you "play that" and fuck all good that's going to do me!!! I really appreciate seeing the actual logic of the pattern too, makes it seem much more attainable. Thanks again!

  • Great tutorial! I was close to taking a flamethrower to my guitar, frustration was kicking in badly trying to learn this intro! All is well though thanks to this video! my guitar lives to see another day at least!

  • Could not have done it withou you THANKS!

  • great tutorial mate! thanks

  • dude!! awesome!! thank you so much! really!

  • first right hand..and then the left?... wrong way to teach it!

  • @omarfusion Since when is there a wrong way to teach something if it is the way they learned?

  • @omarfusion than make your own vid. this kid did a ggod job.

  • nice! :-)

  • Hey man, tutorial really helped. I Had my left hand under the neck and that was really Killing my timing because i found it hard to mute the notes that way.

By the way, can you do a tutorial on the freakishly awesome whammy bar part at the end of the song? i have no idea how Mr.Vai pulls it off and i was wondering if you did :)

  • thank you man!!:)finally one who can show it!Thank you so much!

  • Thanks this helped a lot! just need to practice now

  • that s awesome . I was looking for it . thanx bro

  • :D !!!!!!!!!! hahahahah!!! AWESOME BRO!!!! are you in melbourne by any chance!? (i mean...IF youre in aus that is...)

  • @itsallinthehands sorry man, im in perth

  • @CTravaglini :( ah well, you on facebook man?

  • @CTravaglini good lesson dude, this isn't just greasy kids stuff.

  • @CTravaglini good lesson dude, this isn't just greasy kids stuff.by the way, your satch references show u know what your talking about. keep up the good work. I have a js 90 ham, but I am looking to also get a steve vai model, but I can't decide on a 6 or 7 string. I need to find out if I can do his 6 string stuff on the 7 string as well, if you know what I mean.

  • @jaws1971f thanks for the kind words man :D

well, of course you can play 6 string stuff on a 7 string. however, you will be lacking the evolution pickups that his 6 string jems have. i own a jem and to be honest im not too hot on the jem tone. its great for playing vai and 80's poser rock, but thats about it. i cant remember exactly what pickups were in the universe (7 string) but they suited my tastes a little more.

  • @jaws1971f once again, pickups are incredibly subjective, you have to try everything for long periods of time to develop your own taste. if all your looking for is a guitar to play vai, the universe is a great axe. it'll take you some time to get your head around 7 strings, but once you do, you can use it to its full advantage.

at the end of the day, its up to you. are you a purist, or an individual?

i know ive rambled alot, but i hope this remotely helps you when making your choice :D

  • that s awesome . I was looking for it . thanx bro

  • that s awesome . I was looking for it . thanx bro

  • great tut ;) I've foreseen the left-hand-over-the-neck part, wondering why it sounds so weird.. anyway, cool song, fun to play ;)

  • thanks bro! nice lesson

  • thank you

  • ive learnt this its just on of those things youve got to sit down with and just practise

  • Man, I just about gave up on this after 45 minuets of not getting how the left and right hand interact, and 7 minuets latter i have it at half tempo :)

    thanks a lot, 5 *'s for sure

  • great lesson man

you have a great way of explaining the whole thing, cheers.

  • thankyou man ,,im a guitar player from philippines,,this video is great it helps me,,,you rock man!!!!peace out

  • i love you man!!!! that explanation was great, I tried to learn this riff once, but I gave up.. thanks bro!

  • your the best thanks

  • If I got it right, it seems to fit simple patterns: [c-d-g-C-A] [d-c-C-g-d-A-c]

Repeat this twice and to coda: [c-d-g-C] twice. 32 notes in the sum. As you've explained [c, g, A] are played by right hand, [d, C] - by left.

  • u madonna

  • Comment removed

  • somehow mine turned into the theme from close encounters of the third kind.. more practice.. (my elbow is more tired than my fingers at this point, weird over-neck thingy..)

  • dude i want to kiss you! thanks man you rock. god bless you!

  • muah!

  • thnx man ! do you think you could do a breakdown of the tapped solo as i spent 25$ on the book and it sucs!!!! many thnx

  • hey man. if you have a look at the tapped solo, (if your talking about the one in the middle of the song) then it follows the same principal as here. there is a right hand part, and a left hand part and they alternate. if your still having trouble, i could put a video up for the rest, but i wouldnt be able to get to it for about 3 weeks because i have exams here. either way, i hope this helps.

  • yeh thats cool but its the chordal movement which is the pain! if ur up for the challenge of doing it im sure there will be many greatful guitarist out there! including me! many many thnx man. l8r!
