I like how the first few seconds of the song echo the "Lioness Hunt" scene with the blue background before it turns to a dull grey of their reality :( It's little things like that which makes this musical a true masterpiece.
Don't get me wrong - I totally love The Lion King musical, it's the best show i've ever seen. And Shadowland is definitely one of my favourite songs.
But I don't really like this cast. The voice of Nala is too soft in my opinion. And in the chorus some members stand out too much and you don't have a homogeneous tune.
This scene is just heartbreaking. The musical really develops Nala's character. Instead of being someone that ran away for help, she's this strong, couragous woman who we see had to make an impossible decision. This has always been one of my favorite parts of the show.
This was the 3rd time seeing the Lion King -- first in Las Vegas -- and you did not lie! It was the best production/cast I had ever seen. I will definitely make a return trip.
