No its not the same thing, my father has the Platinum card however my mother has the black card, and the benefits of the black card are just amazing, at the least. While the benefits of the platinum seem like shit compared to those of the black card.

The black card is better in every way shape and form.

this is such a unneccersary status symbol , you have to see past the cool box and unlimited spending and see that the amex black just maximises the amount of debt you can get into

1- The Centurion card is a CHARGE card, so you have to pay the monthly bill in full (no "debt").

2- It's a "status symbol" only for those who don't have it. For the Centurion cardholders, it's only a charge card with some nice benefits.

3- The spending is not "unlimited", like for any other American Express charge card

i had the card when i was younger.. as i got older i realized it was the stupidest fucking thing to own.. u pay $5000.00 up front fee and $2500 a year... its a complete waste of money. amex started the card a a cooperate bet to see if people would really pay for the card and the fees...sure enough they were right...there are a ton of idiots out there including myself who spent the money on it just to look important!
