in reason, with a bcr 2000 controller, you can control the pitch and delay in realtime, and record it as automation. it has a great feel, your video was very helpfull!!
I have one question about acid, is there any way for me to use acid and a controller and assign my own samples like per key on a keyboard or per pad on like the "maschine" or something? Thank you
Ma respect, teaching and sharing info is so important, I wish you all the success in the world. Please, if you have time, keep the tutorials coming, I think acid is a very underrated program.
I made a video response on how to do this in Reason for those who are interested Youtube won't let me post the link here but if DjPain decides to approve the response it should show up here or if you want go to my channel and look under the playlist KevWestTV
@DJKevWest yeah for placements, producers almost always send the sessions. I love using midi in ACID. I won't lie and say ACID doesn't crash every now and then... and frustrate the hell out of me. But I mix all two-tracks in ACID since it supports the same plug-ins (minus rtaas, but who cares) as protools.
@jacksonwonderful interesting i dont have any major placements but Ive always wondered how people who are not using Pro Tools would send in their sessions since it seems like Pro Tools is almost required. I may get an SE system just to have Pro Tools for those who need it.
Thank you everyone for the suggestions I accidently came up with a solution last night using my MPK 25 and note repeat. I set up the triplets on the note repeat and spread the snare across several keys as mentioned before then its just a matter of timing. Thank you for your help and Thank you DJ Pain for making this video
@DJKevWest@BrianDumontMusic you guys taught me something new, so I had to upload a new video on a faster way to program triplets-- same method as with Reason pretty much.
@jacksonwonderful I didn't like rewire for Acid. Some do I just don't. I don't really like using midi in Acid though. Do you rewire Acid into Pro Tools for these placements or do you just send off the stems usually?
@FavuQuad haha I have no idea, but a lot of super talented producers are swearing by like (Ski beats for example). I hear the workflow is the best part about it, but it's especially good for producers who are used to the MPC and SP.
man I wish I would have seen this video an hour before you posted lol. Do you know how to accomplish this in Reason with a midi controller? Ive been using my MPK 25's note repeat but getting the note changes have been a bitch
@DJKevWest its actually easier to do it in reason than acid. Open up an nnxt. Initilize the nnxt. Open a snare sample in the nnxt. You need to go into the edit space/mode. You can set the grid to whatever note value you want. You can set it even to triplets which makes it so much easier to do triplets in reason than acid. Just use the pencil tool to draw in the notes.
That sounds a little harder, just because of the extra step, but most of all because I'm unfamiliar with Reason. I'm sure you can use ACID grooves for the triplets, I never have used the groove options though, and as seen in the video, once you're used to programming these types of fills, the process takes a matter of seconds. But in any case, we should all give different programs a try and then settle on one we are most comfortable with.
@jacksonwonderful it's probably just easier for me because I've been using reason for a long time. You're right it's all about what your comfortable with
@jacksonwonderful his way actually is a little bit faster and easier. I am very familiar with Acid it was my first DAW but I haven't used it in years. Basically he is saying change the snap value on the grid to triplets so that way you don't have to do the guess work like you did in the video for note placement. Then automate the note changes via pitch bend or even by spreading the snare across several keys in the NNXT (The NNXT is an ASR10 emuatlion think of it like not setting your key range)
man...thanks for the tutorial. i'm trying to apply this Maschine.

@BrianDumontMusic thanks mang, appreciate that!

@jacksonwonderful oh wow, you can just make the acid grid snap to 16th note triplets as well. let's see if that works well.

As always man great stuff keep on keeping on!
Just a quick question for you, what is your take on Native instruments Maschine,
would you use it and do you think it would improve your workflow or your creativity?
