  • where the fuck is he going?

  • @ILoveHaters0 to yo mammas house.

    sorry, yust a yittle yoke

  • At 0:17 does anyone else think it sounds like Shortest Straw by Metallica?

    Awesome song still!

  • This song makes me fall asleep in a fit of rage... neat...

  • best stoner song ever O.O

  • Thumbs up if this reminds you of Gojira! 5/5 I am a fan of Pelican, Gojira, Kyuss, Mastodon and more!

  • Oh fuck yeah this is heavy!

  • this song is kick ass ane the vid is cool too :0

  • if u wuz blazed when you watched this thumbs up

  • @tonyhawk42069 dick

  • Kyuss!

  • Agreed. Russian Circles, Caspian, God is an astronaught, etc etc the list could go on, all sound the same. They're all brilliant, but Pelican really has atmosphere.

  • WTF. God is an Astronaut and Caspian aren't related to Pelican at ALL! They all fall within the post-rock realm, but you are meaning to tell me Pelican is the only one with atmosphere? Pelican is unique in that they focus on heavyass riffs, but that just makes them different not better.

  • Pelican destroys all other bands from this genre, including Isis, Russian Circle, you name it. Their songs are more artistic, more sophisticated, more nuanced and textured and lack the monotony of other so-called ambience or post-metal bands. So anyone here who praises the other bands shut the fuck and leave this post because you are intruding into the holy shrine of Pelican.

  • Russian Circles is better at being Pelican than Pelican is at being Pelican :P jk

No really, Pelican is more heavy guitar riffs, and Russian Circles is more Bass oriented. I'd hardly call Pelican "more sophisticated, more nuanced, and textured" than RC or many other post-rock/post-metal bands. Listen to 'Firdous E Bareen' from ISIS and you tell me they aren't sophisticated...

Love Pelican. But. I think you are unjustly trashing those other bands.

  • Your definition of sophistication is skewed. You are confusing sophistication with technical ability. That is not at all what I'm referring to. I'm not referring to the ability of a band to tweak with levels, and incorporate innovative designs and instruments into their reportoire. That's not what I'm referring to at all. I'm referring to song writing. Listen to 'March to the Sea' by Pelican. And then come back to me and tell me that's not more sophisticated than Isis or Russian Circles.

  • Uh, when you say "more sophisticated, more nuanced, and textured" that sounds very similar to "ability of a band to tweak with levels, and incorporate innovative designs and instruments into their reportoire." If you meant their songwriting, then why didn't you just say so? ...And you accuse ME of having a skewed view of sophistication? Sophistication in many ways is subjective, and I was merely going along with a definition I thought you were implying.

  • i completely adore Pelican. <3

  • I love Pelican. <3

  • this isnt even the actual video for this song

  • no it's not but this one is much better

  • its Funny this band!!...easy to scream lyrics under it !!

  • Can someone please tell me what kinda bass he plays? the one with the double cutaway and oval pick guard. i thought it was a fender but can't find one like it.

  • Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingray I believe.

  • Yep that's it, a Music Man Stingray. You have to know it's quite an expensive bass. Also exists in 5-strings.

  • check out Dosius "Nuclear American Rain Dance" if you like instrumental music.

  • just opened this band. amazing

  • wicked awesome tree there at the end,the ride looked fun on a dry day with a sporty little car with stick shift..too rough for a bike though...eitherway,great riding tuneage, especially if you have the road to yourself!

  • A lot of people seem to really hate this album. I don't know why. It sounds good to me. I haven't really listened to it that much though.

Their drummer isn't as bad as everyone says.

  • this is way better then the official video...

    5/5

  • i know! the real video doesnt even match with the song

  • There are a ton of great songs. The album Australasia is chock full of em.

  • are there any other bad-ass pelican songs?

  • Duuuh, yes? :>

This entire album is fantastic imo

  • The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw is an amazing album front to back. If you're looking for some of their heavier shit. Check out their self titled EP, or the song "Drought".

  • Glad I came across this on MTV2.

  • JUST AWESOME

  • that was a comment?

  • Well, since its actual instruments instead of recycled beats and the same song over and over again, i would say its great music.

  • Look at his favorites, "scuba diving cat and dog" ROFL! What were you expecting dude?

  • nicerichards that is

  • I think its atmospheric sludge, bt I'm not sure lol

  • The genre for Pelican should be "AWESOME"

that is the best way to describe it.

  • you're totally right :)

  • buena... que banda loco, tiene fuerza!!!

    Aguante PELICAN, VIEJO!!!!!

  • does anyone know where tabs for this are?

  • post, for sure

  • genre this, genre that. Generalize all you want, this is rock.

  • Amen!

  • if you could put this into a genre what would you put this as

  • sex

  • Post-Rock. Learn it. Live it. Love it.

  • seconded!

    :D

  • Post-Metal, I reckon. Like ISIS. But genre definition doesn't really matter, just plain wicked music!! :)

  • Isis rules, bro!

  • Post-Rock=Jakob, This Will Destroy You, Gregor Samsa, etc.

This is post-metal with atmospheric sludge, and Doom influences....in other words not easily definable.

  • Comment removed

  • its Post-Rock man.

  • it's just music, man. 'post-rock' doesn't really mean anything.

  • It mwans it's in the genre of post rock...

  • post-metal.

even though these guys probably don't like the label.

  • Well I mean, if you had to describe the shit, I think Post-Rock or Post-Metal would be the best words to describe it.

  • Atmospheric hardcore with Doom and Sludge influence.

    Sound like a mouthful?

  • fuck it, i think it's sludge metal (and it is XD) but who cares, it's just great music :D

  • damn...i love those vids

  • looks like centralia

  • i would like to theorize that this genre of post-rock will be one of the genre's that generations later on will identify this generation with.

60s and 70s had classic rock, 80s had shitty electronic pop, 90s had grunge, metal and alternative, and now that has spawned post-rock, 00s genre

  • that or techno metalcore

  • Seriously? Out of all the genres that are actually popular and well-known, this generation will be associated with a narrow avenue of metal?

    Theorize my dick.

  • i thought this was through the perspective of the pelican vocalist, kinda wierd, but hey, its a good song though

  • anybody wonder where all the other cars are on this road?

  • this song is fuckin bad ass.

  • @matt41083 Added to playlists STONER METAL, and also METAL CARNAGE OWNAGE AND BRUTALITY 2

  • Hey take me with you ! Out of this shit whole they call life ...

  • Were the Hell are they going ? !

  • yea !!!!!!!!!! 2 High??????????????!!

  • ese es el video oficial???

    hay otro??

    saludos

    pelican lo mejor!!

  • kick ass !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song!!!!

  • they have an actual music video now for this shit

  • Wow just checked out the video on Pelicans website. I'm glad you finally got into this band, Australasia and The Fire in our throats will beckon the thaw, along with the self titled ep are the muddafukkin shit.

I guess I'll take this down when someone posts there new video on here.

  • the funny thing is the other night i was forced to watch headbanger's ball as a joke to see how bad it has become. 2 and a half hours of the usual teen bop screamo, ultra toned down black metal videos that looked as if they were filmed in 93, and some boring as hell hardcore. i was about to blow my face off then this song came on and as i spent my whole saturday night/sunday morning in agony i found that i had soiled myself in joy of discovering this band.

  • i was watching it too because i was fliping channels and this came on, thats how i found it

  • fate can work in strange ways some times dude. thats how i discovered morbid angel

  • I discovered Kreator and Kamelot the same way.

And are you sure you heard BM on MTV? I've never even seen a real black metal band with a music video.

  • This was early 90s they would have old school death all the time on headbanger's ball dude. They played the video for immortal rites and I was hooked

  • Wow, exactly the same here!!

  • Props, I digged the video too.

  • Love this stuff, i saw them live with Thrice, it was amazing. Definitly want to see them again.

  • This video actually takes away from the song.

  • post music and rain should go hand in hand. its perfect

  • like PF said ...

    "Careful with that axe, Eugene"

  • awesome as hell track..vid couldn't be more boring though

  • Thanks for posting a magnificent Pelican song with great sound quality.

  • this new album is my favorite so far. it differs from other pelican some, but who wants to hear the same stuff all the time?

  • great video

  • I like what the drummer is doing for this album. They seem to be adding more levels to the song than some of their past albums.

  • do you know what drums are?

  • I think ventingmachine is talking about the style of drumming... maybe thats why Pelican is well-liked by people. The drummer has quite an unique style of drumming which actually keeps very good time with the song itself although it may sound really irregular with the guitars sometimes. I use 0:29-0:38 as an example. Cheers!

  • I like Pelican. But the drumming is at best poor. And I really don't see arguing against that unless you know nothing at all about music. Really, does the drummer EVER add anything to their sound? It sounds as if they have a drum track playing every time. The guy wouldn't know what a fill was if it slapped him in the face.

  • Nice song!!!! the video sucks VERY boring!!!!!

  • the video adds to the depth of the song, jesus your a loser.

  • sounds great, reminds me of australasia

  • music is great as always, video is boring as can be

  • can't wait for this new album

  • pelican is great soundtrack music

  • YEAH FUCKING TITS new stuff very good reminds me of the first EP and this is the best of the new album

  • Wow, that's a very different direction from their last album. If that's really them, this should be an interesting album.
