In regards to vocal range. Yes, jay can definately hit a higher note without using falsetto's but he's lower notes are much weaker when compared with eason's. Eason's good range tends to be within the low-mid range whereas jay's is mid-high. Btw, from what I've heard so far from his live performances, eason can hit up to A# cleanly. Jay can go much higher.Both have their good's/bad's. Personally, I admire eason's vocal's much much more than jay's however.
