  • Evo not matching european cars on highway speed stability because it's been made in japan with a speed limit of only 100kph?? How the fuck did they make the GTR so damn quick then.

  • @ckwan28 when the computer inside the gtr senses that you're on a racetrack it takes off the electronic speed limiter

  • shouldt the steering wheel on the left side ?

  • @Longboardmaestro ......no its a jdm/euro spec car they drive on the right side

  • that foot work is INSANE

  • ABS and TC on ?

  • Someone tell me why im listening a japanese person giving me information about germany?

  • at 9.29 i ejaculated O_O

  • what is he doing to the gas pedal while braking???

    SOME1 PLZ REPLY!!

  • @surajskings When braking he uses the engine to help the brakes. For that purpose he should get into lower gear from 3rd to 2nd for example. He press brakes and the clutch simultaneously then set to neutral rev the engine by pressing the gas pedal get into a lower gear and releases the clutch. In that way he is preventing the car from blocking the tires when going into a lower gear . And the car slows down smoothly . Its even better for the gearbox when double clutching but not as fast.

  • it's weird he said it feels unstable going through turns at speed I loved high speed turns in my 03 evo even if I thought the rear would break loose you just keep going cuz u still feel a secure control but I live is nj in sthe states so it's probably the elevation differences cars at the tracks here run better times cuz the perfect race conditions it's great when we have the pr vs usa battles cuz they got fast cars that get even faster when they get here

  • this is a BONE stock showroom evo w rubber clutch/brake lines, 'decent' rr swaybar, stock squishy bilsteins, 290hp. I'd love him to flog my RS on 275/35/18 NT05s big rr sway 360hp 7:49?

  • holy crap that's a fast time for a evo IX?!! SO PRO

  • if he hadnt messed up on the start

if the track condition wasnt wet n slippery

if he didnt mess up at a few braking zones

he couldve easily shaved 6 seconds off at the minimum

  • @cagednm69 I'm sure you could've done better... have you even ever been to the Nurburgring? Yea, didn't think so, so shut it and watch the vid.

  • @darkko7 FAIL!!!!!!!! I have had two runs at the Nurburgring on two seperate visits to Germany. So since you didnt know that i think you should shut it!

  • watch?v=0Zr5hy3iQlc

  • I skipped to 11.11 and i thought it was the car's dump valve noise. lol.

  • Awesome video, awesome track, awesome driver, awesome car...

  • The driver sounded like he was giving birth during the cornering.

  • As an Evo owner, I think this is the best evo video I have found on the web. Very interesting to hear the criticisms. Wow - still a great great car.

  • damn what a pro driver

  • 8:11,16 ???

ainda tem coragem de dizer k e mais rapido k um subaru???

em 2004 o tempo de um sti ja foi de 7:59...

  • what is the lap time!!!! it just stopped at 13:36 somebody gotta help me i can't go to bed til i know what the time was!!! GT CHANNEL/B M I ya'll still rock!

  • This is my future car!

  • crappy tires ftl

  • look at da foot work dammm

  • dame i think in the dry its faster than the sti spec c. i would steel go for the sti.

the evo has a harsh ride and the inside is so cheap and crapy. for a few turns he dame neer shit him self ha ha

  • WHOA 1:27-1:28 in the back ground there is another evo parked on the sidewalk lollll its a grey evo 8

  • @MyEvoWins - wow. you're better watcher than Chuck Norris!! seriously. man..

  • @MyEvoWins you have very good eyes! lol.

  • EVO 9; best damn generation of the EVO, fuck the 10!!!

  • OMG you can hear the adrenaline kicking in his voice dude.

  • That's not fair the track was wet.

  • Why does Takayuki have to tap the brake a bit before he enters the next conering braking point? Is it to do with the pressure or something? please explain.....also he breathes so loudly, too cold there? or too nevous hahaha

  • @thepreme123 I believe he does that to shift the load to the front wheels on turn in. I would also be breathing heavily if concentrating on driving an E9 at Vmax in the wet, whilst still providing a commentary! :)

  • @h1017412 Oh, does it have to do something with the braking pressure? or cleaning the brakes? or cooling them? How about the Le-mans technique in synchronicing the breath you take when you hit the clipping point or the apex. i don't understand that...it looks as if takayuki is using it here? hehe please explain...thank you! ;D

  • @thepreme123 He taps the brakes because of a simple reason - he's making sure he actually has brakes.

Even with the Evo's Brembo equipped braking system, he would be seeing a good deal of brake fade around the Nurburgring. When many professional racers race street built vehicles, you will notice they frequently perform this straight line (notice it's not actually in the braking zone where he's doing this) brake check to make sure there's actually brake pressure in the system.

  • @dsmspyder ohh, for the safety reason right? but by doing this, many of these small test brakings......it will make the car a tenth of a second slower than not doing? thanks

  • i love evo 9!!!

  • Is it just me or can you hear him breating like he's running?

  • at 4:27 is a speed limit :D

    and he drive 210kmph

  • By reference times here in the vdo @ 6mins Sti spec C did it in 8'6"01 unless you have other list/time somewhere else I curious to see.

  • wanna see the record of lance evo x ralllyart version... why are you guys keep on comparing spec c to evo?... which is sti are no match to evo's.....

  • when i watch that guy driving since like he is the first time coming to Nurburgring but not sure why the driver of the evo its Kinoshita not Kurosawa

  • good, but spec c did it in 7.59 :D

  • Kinoshita knows the Nordschleife very well because he is one of the drivers of the Falken Skyline GT-R

  • Nice driving!

  • I love this japanese show 5 stars

  • best lookin evo out there

  • @aznboi892 loool

  • Evo IX FTW !!

  • Googled it, first thing it showed up is Edmund

"The racer's answer is the heel-and-toe downshift. The technique combines braking and downshifting at the same time. Using our example again, if Frank used a heel-and-toe downshift, he would have downshifted while he was braking for the corner. This way, he would have had power while he was going around the corner and he could have quickly applied more throttle once he exited the corner."

  • Pretty much the same thing to what I said, " It's to help braking through corner entry for most track use, and you're in the right gear for corner exit." It's obvious you have no idea what heel and toe is and you got the wrong idea of it. You thought, "You can do that easily by depressing the clutch and braking like everybody does." was the same thing as downshifting and braking at the same time. I think it's pathetic I have to explain what Heel and Toe is to you, I'm not going to waste my time

  • But i saw the evo 9 keep moving away from the inside in all of the cornering, is that because he never use that 3 option or he breaking too late?

  • I don't really get what you're trying to say, I think you're talking about the driving line? Like, you go out as far as you can, so you can turn in sharper? 'Cause when you try to stick close to the turning corner instead of going outside in, you need to lower your speed and you tend to get more understeer. And he does use Heel and toe, but you don't need to use it for every corners.

  • I mean when coming to the corner, the evo 9 keep on understeer all around the cornering but for spec C, no problem at all.

  • Oh, lol. Spec C's a lighter car isn't it? We'll see about this gen's Evo and STi. The new Evo GSR has .99g regardless of its heavier weight than the Evo IX and VIII. What's your thought on the new Evo X? Most people don't like it 'cause of its new body style, but it has higher g rates, engine's made of aluminum (lighter than the iron block), power gains are easier, BUT it is slightly heavier making it a bit slower.. but with the engine running rich w/ stock tune.. it's easy to make up for it.

  • Who will care about the weight, poeple only care about which car is the best one between Subaru and Mitsubishi and those suby fan boy said so what if EVO faster than Subaru in the drag, but n rally Subaru is the king. The EVO X it is danm slowers than the evo 9 alot but in the corner it is best improving but they has been compare it with the GTR35 by FQ400 EVO X

  • We'll see.. Tanner Foust + Ken Block switched from Subie to Ford. And Evolution used to be king of the WRC 'cause of Tommi Makinen. Subie's gotten a lot of WRC and X-Play credibility 'cause of Tanner Foust + Ken Block imo.

Btw, slap on a bigger trim sized turbo and lose weight and it'll be faster than most cars. But the FQ-400 has some bad turbo lag, if it was a rolling start at 30MPH in 2nd gear w/o brake boosting. The GT-R would wreck it.

But Subie and Mitsubishi has a big rivalry btween them.

  • Oh you mean that X games rally, i don't see evo down there anymore only Subaru Ken Block and it always win, you mean that they has tune it and lose the weight?

The GTR top speed is 340km for evo x Its 300km but HP it is danm low for evo x thats the reason why so slow for GTr it is heavyer than evo x and more faster than both AWD Suby and EVO.

  • LOL! I got X-Play and X-Games mixed up, fail. But the GT-R also has a better response w/ no turbo lag 'cause it's a twin turbo, along with the added displacement. But for the price you pay on a GT-R, it better be fast! And Nissan's always been heavy. All of their GT-R, Zs, and Gs weighs in over 3,100-3,300+lbs. Yeah, I think Subie's out of action for WRC for a long time. That's why Ken Block switched from Subaru to Ford, same with Tanner Foust.

  • Subaru is the best one in WRC why no longer drive it, GTR no question, it is faster monster in japan both cars can't race against the monster LOL

  • Luckily, I was able to test drive a GT-R in a G35 meet long back when the GT-R first came out. I've never test drove the Evo X FQ-300 yet.. but I plan on selling my G35 for a Evo X GSR.

  • Why don't you buy GTR?

  • 'Cause I'm 20 years old barely making $300/month payments, LOL! I just sold most of my G35 aftermarkets and saved up enough money for a good downpayment on the Evo X. Full time student, so I don't have a lot of time to work. And the parts for a GT-R costs A LOT, I can't afford $5-10,000 exhaust kits vs like $900 GReddy SE Exhaust for an Evo.

I know people who owns a GT-R, they spend $10k/yr on maintenance on it. I'd get no where in my studies if I had to work that much to pay off the car. LOL

  • But I'm still not a big fan of Dual Clutch Transmissions, no matter how fast they shift. And I don't know if the $20,000 Transmission Problem is still going on with the GT-R

  • Yeah, especially in winter when you do nasty powerslides you need the clutch to disengage the drive to better control your car´s behaviour...

Old fashion H pattern shift gearboxes will never die!!! :)

  • you are too yong, for you if you wanted to buy GTR, there are still many chancers to earn money, i think you should save first don't buy evo buy GTR better, evo its a little car.

  • I never said I wanted to buy a GT-R, I don't know where you got that idea. And I'm buying the Evo X as a car I can have fun with. Lighter weight, AWD, FI'd; I'd rather drive a Evo X over the G35 w/ its sluggish automatic transmission + heavy weight.

  • Who says evo x its lighter, if you want lighter buy Subrau Spec C or typr RA-R, i'm just suggesting you to buy GTR never say you wanted to buy ok.

  • Evo X is lighter than both the GT-R and G35 though. The Subaru Spec C was never in this conversation, lol. If I wanted to go light weight, I'd get a Lotus. GT-R has a $20,000 Tranny Problem, doesn't come in manual, and it costs $10,000/yr to maintain it unless they drive it once a month, it's also very expensive to mod the GT-R yet alone tune it.

  • GTR it is faster no need to have manual for Subaru and EVO needs, but you can't brain on that car because of expensive because the money are set by the company, everything good sure must be expensive.

  • I think you're just having trouble admitting that you're wrong by pulling out these arrogant comments. Lol, once again.. you're pulling out small segments and trying to make them sound like it's something else. I said for most track use, not as a daily driving situation, although I do downshift and brake just for the heck of it. And yes, I do own a manual transmission; apparently you don't. Maybe you should read back on what I said more carefully and you'll understand.

  • Point of heel and toe is generally used for corner entry, or just to brake faster. Foot positioning is usually with your left foot on the clutch, tip of the right foot on the brakes, and the heel of the right foot on the accelerator to help with rev matching, by that time you're ready to accelerate out of the corner. Not just to, "heel and toe is to match the engine revs when your downshifting, with the speed of the car."

  • Well, apparently it seems that I've explained it better for the viewers. Depressing the clutch and braking is different from Downshifting and braking at the same time. I think you need to re-read what I've said.

It seems that you're just trying to pull out random sentences and trying to make it sound like something else.

"heel and toe is to match the engine revs when your downshifting, with the speed of the car." That's just an explanation on how to downshift, not heel+toe.

  • JSIS answer was much better than yours. You don't have to heel toe to rev match.

  • I can read what you said.

All you're describing is what happens when you downshift without rev matching. Way to go!

You heel-toe in order to brake and rev match at the same time, reducing the time it would take to shift and turn conventionally.

  • I guess you posted that while I was typing. I didn't see it, but it's pretty much what I said. It's to help braking through corner entry for most track use, and you're in the right gear for corner exit. And I wasn't typing to you if you thought I was. I was responding to Nyege2

  • That just seems like an explination on how to downshift properly than why people heel and toe. Of course rev matching is essential to downshifting, but the point of heel and toe is to save time in down shifting and brake later in the turns.

  • I love watching Nurburgring lap.

  • thanks gtchannel for giving me something to watch during work

  • nice vid, thanks for uploading

  • Why does he step on the brake and gas at the same time right before he makes a turn?

  • when you step on the brake the weight of the car shifts to the front giving you more grip on the front tires to make a turn with less understeer

  • It's called a heel + toe, once you hit the clutch you're not in gear. So it's fine to push the accelerator and the brakes. It's mainly used for downshifting. It's to save time as well, you can brake later instead of having to shift down early then brake 'cause you're braking and shifting down at the same time.

  • I wonder why he breathes so heavily when he brakes and turns, is it becuase he is more mentally enganged or is it becuase he is feeling the g's?

  • probably the g's, or it could be just a way of preparing for the turn

  • it's a specific race driving technique to breath in a certain way.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm no professional driver, but I think it was fine. I guess he wanted to avoid using the brakes, so he downshifted and used the lower gear to power out. He would've lost too much revs in 5th gear.

  • Nevermind ur right I got my corners confused

  • Wow, getting from one of the most beautiful cities to the most beautiful track in the world. Great

  • that's my car woot!

  • when approaching a corner he taps the break very lightly with his left foot, then begins his heel toe. why?

he testing road feel before breaking for the corner?

  • Tapping the brake pedal ensures that the pad is in contact with the rotor.

If you do not do this rotors will spin and push the pads away. Hence there will be a small delay when you press the brake. This small delay may translate to the off shooting of a couple meters and a too fast of a corner entry; speed where the drive cannot make the corner.

  • no, doesn't he do this to test the brakes as a precautionary method to make sure he hasnt lost hydraulic fluid and that there is still braking feel?

  • Nope, this is called 'dusting' the brake pads. This cleans off any excess loose carbon from the last heavy braking point and can re-seat the brake pads as they can move the odd millimeter.

  • @Senninha1960 I think that sounds reasonable. It is similar to what some last generation ESP systems do automatically, even in the wet to keep the pad and disc contact surface dry and ready to give their best peformance on rainy conditions. And the track surface was wet on that time attack...

  • @alamos8 It used to have me intrigued so I found out a while back :D

  • I love the 9. Its totally the best.

  • Yay, best evo so far. Atleast it looks better than x and lighter.

  • looks like a lot of understeer :S

  • Great video.. I live near Trier heh..

  • you lucky...... :P

  • I think it's time for 2008, 2009 and 2010 BMI. Right GTchannel?

  • 2SS6's got my vote.

  • love evos

  • his breathing pattern is rather interesting...

  • because he's fighting with the car

  • well yeah i figured that much out lol.

It sounds like he is forcing himself to breath though.

  • it's a specific technique.

  • It's normal under heavy braking.

  • @203132 some race drivers use breathing techniques to remain calm during certain conditions

    google it up.

  • @Innoxp not now, yo have to wait for the video to fully upload
