Laser 558 was better. If only Caroline had had the guts to actually fight. Peter Chicago was the only one on the ship with some actual bottle. He actually fought rather than playing "peace" tunes. At the end of the day when your back is against the wall then you need to defend yourself. As they say, the netherlands are next door to a certain country ;) Having said that Caroline was broadcasting on maritime distress frequencies.

@c001breeze 6215 was stopped the day before the raid this was planned and I think the Landward tried to silence the transmissions the day before so no one would of known this was planned and as Neil Gates said to me the whole point of the raid was to end Dutch offshore radio! that is why when they returned they were left alone as Neil quoted to me they were told if you don't broadcast in Dutch we will not be interested that was said to him by the Dutch offical in charge! this raid was wrong

I remember this happening, I didn't realise what the guys aboard went through at the time. Our so called 'government' committed piracy because they could get away with it, aided by the bloody dutch. So glad Carolines still alive today. I call at Tilbury dock every day and its good to see the 'Ross' is well looked after these days. This is a great mix and video, brings all the memories back!

I read that the legality of the 1990 broadcasting act (the one that among other things keeps Caroline from going back to the high seas) may be challenged in the courts..... to what extent i'm not sure and its probably wishful thinking to hope it would make a difference to Caroline

I remember it the sad thing is the Broadcasting Act 1990 allows the Ross to be raided at sea! but a ship full of drugs can not be touched its sad!

I have "out of the blue" written by Chris Kennedy about the raid and when the Ross Revenge called the coast Guard they were told the British Goverment were fully aware of what was happening, also they broke every rule under the sun at that time as it was not until 1990 when the law was changed so at this point Caroline was not breaking any laws the Dutch and the DTI were pirates and should under International law been prosecuted!

Under international maritime law the captain of the Ross Revenge could....and perhaps should have shot dead all members of the boarding party in self defence as they became voilent

He could of done but Caroline promotes love peace and good music not violence and agression , I have out of the Blue written by Chris kennedy on that day and he is well educated the way he writes even i find it hard but it is very interesting
