  • I bought this fantastic amp and a 1960AX cab. Plugged in my Angus Young signature SG and now I need new windows!!! :)

  • Hi what do you think about the marshall MG100FX

  • listen to ol fumble fingers give it a go then, Scared o the boost are Ye? E gads Ye whackers! Line up 4or 5 of me full stacks(make sure you get 2 heads on each top) and then youll hear some of that ol Spanish Caslte Magic Mate!!! Till then like we say in Sweden Svervaatlander!!!

  • Heloo I AM Yngwie J Malmsteen (bet youre wondrin what the J i stands for dont you) Listen whats WRONG WITH my TONE??? HAS SOMEONE PISSED IN YOUR TEA? bloody hell lads, the first tone sounds like youre havin a love-in round a campfire with the Blue birds! then sounds like SRV lost his Dumble in a school boys knickers doesnt it! Classic Rock? Youd better finish that bottle of the Old No. 7 and pop in The Song Remains The Same and have a

  • Hey Guys... do you remember the settings - EQ etc, you had this on? Sounds fantastic.

  • Utter Chalk and Cheese??

Cap'n Lee strikes again! I shall endeavor to use that phrase..

  • im thinking geting one of them. aweeeesooooome AMP

  • @sugarcock1 The Cap'n Lee special.

  • It's official I think. No guitar can or ever will sound as good as a Les Paul does. You can have your Fenders (aka. "only good as firewood"), your ESPs, your Ibanezes... Nothing will ever compare to a Les Paul. Nothing.

  • @ErebosNetherDarkness watch out dude. a Fender sounds different than a LP, and i like more the fender cuz i have one. if you like the LPs (and have thousands to spend), go buy one. i think that a les paul doesn't deserve it's money. to expensive. only some LPs deserve their money

  • @ErebosNetherDarkness also, i can find you a lot of other guitar brands that sounds close to a LP. but you can't find me a brand that sounds close to fender, strat especially

  • I got the amp yesterday !! amazing amp

but - Can you please make a video that you show the setting you play with ?

  • some nice plexi sounds in this wonder box

  • the captain is a right cock! chappers is ok though lol.

  • pala butuh la banyak cakap, cepat la main

  • This is probably my favorite review of yours which I've seen—and that's a great many. Not so much the gear itself, but how you explored the possibilities.

Also, I'm starting to think my 2x12 might not be enough. I figure I could treat a 4x12 like a piece of furniture: just pay someone to move it when I need to rearrange.

  • That Les Paul is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Lee, I will trade you my wife for that Les Paul......send me a message and we will swap information. I'll look into the cost of shipping my wife to the UK.

  • Love the lick at 13:43 :)

  • I just don't like the sound of a strat. Too spanky for my taste. :\

  • @RobChappers have you ever tried Kloppmann pick ups? they sound amazing

  • Man with that Strat and the scalloped fretboard this is dead fucking on early, mid 1980's Malmsteen. Especially when his boost is kicked in, the tone is nailed.

Hard to describe in words but it's extremely compressed with a shit ton of treble and mid range, a ton of pick attack and note clarity, almost shrill to an extent, but it's awesome !

  • You LUCKY BASTARD!

  • Gotta say out of all of them I liked the 1958 les paul most and the yngwie strat the least.

  • You two make great mini shows, could i make a request that some or all of the snippets of tunes you play be rolled across the screen. Keep the good work up

  • Rob, the Captain & their Andertons' videos... What else? ;o)

  • @ChrisW: I totally agree. It's not cool. Not crazy. Not even ironic. He might just as well wear a chicken on his head. Sorry Chappers, you looked better during the "Tiny Terror Metal period". You still rock though! :-)

  • I bet Rob would sound a lot more better if he loses that gay 1970's sweater headband and just wore a normal hairtie. Really man you may as well wear pink ribbons.

  • Great demo...really great amp much more variety built into this amp than imagined...

I hear Eddy Van Halen tones in this amp for sure...

  • You guys do the very best reviews. You should get your own show on BBC. Cheers.

  • All reviews should be done this well. THANKS!!!

  • @thebibleisalltrue Thanks mate I really appreciate that ;-)

  • What kind of pickups are in that lp, they're really sweet.

  • On the pickups, you said they're fairly underpowered. Yngwie said once that his pickups arent high output and are actually very low output because he wanted the preamp overdrive he uses to do most of the work.

  • Sounds AMAZINGLY similar to the DSL50 and 100 models which can be found much easier and had for a lot less money.

  • @LedWhisky69 Well, before he had this signature head, Malmsteen would use the DSL heads when playing abroad as he didn't want to risk damaging his vintage plexi heads. I'd certainly say that for how similar they are, it would be be difficult to justify the signature price tag of the YJM. Ironic really, given Marshalls' claims.

  • @shredicon86 Both the DSL and YJM amps were modeled right after the vintage Super Lead Plexis with higher gain on tap, so that makes complete sense, actually. The DSL was actually a damn fine amp. I had one for awhile and really enjoyed it. The only two things that really makes the YJM stand out are the vintage Plexi cosmetics and the power scaling/voltage regulation. Aside from those, you're right. It's tough to justify that price tag.

  • @LedWhisky69 Oh, I didn't know that about the Super Lead Plexis, thanks. Though whats with the past tense in reference to the DSL? Haha! Mine is still very much alive and kicking. As for the power scaling/voltage regulation I can see the use on the uber loud YJM, but on the more practical DSL range theres only 3db difference in volume between the 50 and 100 watt heads. To be honest, only malmsteen would get to push the powertube section of the YJM. Most other people have band mates/an artist....

  • @shredicon86 Past tense because Marshall doesn't make the DSL anymore. LOL! That's all. I still see tons of them out there, of course. The DSL also has a pretty decent master volume, but I also believe that the best attenuators out there surpass the power scaling technology. Therefore, you spend much less than a grand on a DSL head, a few hundred bucks on a killer attenuator for all the power tube distortion you want at any volume, and you have yourself one hell of a setup.

  • awesome video!. but am i the only one who hears the strat slightly out of tune?

  • HAHAHA !!!

    Loudness Chart:

    1. Bedroom

    2. Loud Bedroom

    3. Rehersal

    4. Gig

    5. Malmsteen

    Thumbs up for that

  • @MsKhendra 6. spinal tap ( u know their amps go to 11)

  • and this is why les pauls are the best!!

  • Awesome Vid guys as usual at 10:21- 10:34 did I hear Chappers playing Brian May's legendary Tie your Mother Down Riff?

  • why do marshall haveto do limited runs!!!!!!!!

  • I'm new to making demo videos. What software is cheap and easy to use to make demos like this? I see the cabinet is mic'd, are their voices just picked up by the camera mic or are they mic'd as well? I need software for syncing mic recorded amp to video. Any help would be great. Keep in mind: I am newb.

  • I love the way the body is carved, not to mention the hot Humbuckers. Very solid resonating tone with this setup. I like the whole Guthrie Govan Les Paul vibe the ML2 gives off, if that makes sense.

  • Do blues on afd100

  • OK. Pre order time in the US. I need to hear more first WITH THE LES PAUL at house & gig volumes. Can you guys do more?!! I'm really interested in hearing more LP Bridge pick up, higher saturation with less harsh high end. The EQ settings here seem to be Les Paul/ Strat compromise settings ( a little more favorable to strats) , but I'd like to hear how John Sykes or Joe Bonamassa would set this. Those types of sounds with a Les Paul are what I need to hear.

  • is that a scalloped yngwie strat?

  • @MrLaserprint they only make scalloped Yngwie strats.

  • @kingv911 i know they do i was just asking if it was an yngwie strat

  • I think ,the amp is made for a stratocaster ,definitly

    and for chappers !!!

  • Why, oh Why, do you English musicians always suck your teeth after every other sentence???? driving me crazy. Even Chris George.

  • just curious, have you tried to get any Randy Rhoads tones out of it?

  • I love the demos that you guys do, you're awesome in that classic rockin kinda way. The demos show me the tones I am interested in from the equipment and have great sound quality for youtube. Because of your demos I purchased one of each, the YJM and slash. I am usually not a Marshall person but I like the sound of the old style hotroded amps and the attenuator so you don't have to level the building to sound good. My slash will be in my hands in about a week finally!

  • Marshall plexi with a strat or lespaul =best rock crunch sound ever made on the planet so far !!!!!

This one come in with the perfect mods reverb, noise gate, built in overdrive

    but very limited and expensive.

I guess the alternative will be to get a Marshall plexi reissue with a good overdrive in the front end a boss noise gate and some digital delay reverb in the loop !

will you try to do a review comparaison on this sometime it could be interresting to compare it !

  • lovin thhat les paul

  • So is the noise gate similar to the Boss NS2? I think the NS2 reacts very well to guitar volume changes, but is the amp the same way? Thanks for the demo Chappers and Anderton's!

  • What is the front volume set at?

I'd like to hear the front volume near max and the attenuator used as the volume. I think that the Les Paul would sound even better that way.

Do more with this amp! It's not like we can go try one out. We only have the option of online evaluation and possibly; online purchase.

Chris George does some nice demos too, but his guitar is uncommon, so it's hard to get a true sense of the amp. That's why I appreciate what you guys do with the Strat & Les Paul..

  • this is one sweet amp

  • Turn down the treble and presence when the Strat is plugged in for God sake, sounds SO thin and spiky. The Les Paul sounds great btw. Lastly, less talking, more playing, pretty please.

  • soundz dull with HB-PU's.....amp is made for thickening up SC-PU's

    typically for YM.

  • do you guys need to hire someone, like, say myself to do what you do? I'm willing to move and start next week...

  • they told me in musicmesse that there is going to be only 1500 of yjm marshalls and they re sold out!do u know anything on that?

  • Hi Rob, what ohm-age does Yngwie use for the cabs? (maybe Santiago told you) Thanks

  • I'd like to hear it with the volume around 7 or 8 and the attenuation down to around around 20% with the Bass, Mid & treble set specifically for the Les Paul. I can't even find a JVM within an hour of here so I'm using vids to get a sense of things. I guess it'll be pretty hard to get one of these, but I may try. When is the release date?

  • who disliked this? awesome tone especially with the les paul

  • who disliked this?

  • who disliked this?also to the people who go around complaining about the price of marshall amps )a if you dont like them stop watching videos of them )b if you think there "way to expensive" you dont care about your tone

  • What a beautiful les Paul it's so fucking perfect in colour and everything ! Oh I wish it were mine !

  • LOL "So are we Rollin' rollin' rollin'??"

  • Chappers!!!! hi!!! what's the tone with power scaling all down???? Quite enough to play in bedroom???? good work!!!

  • @geckron Call PETA... I mean PETG !

  • Comment removed

  • Decent Video =/

  • Oh, the sound with the Les Paul is soo goood. Really a sound of one generation of music.

  • Hey Mate you still endorsed by ESP?

  • Could this S*** get ANY more entertaining? I think not :)

  • That Les Paul sounded awesome

  • I love the way Lee moves back slightly when ever you start playing fast, like something is going to fly off and hit him in the face.

  • @Darfuria i have a friend who shreds like chappers and even when i'm playing rhythm i can't help but be taken aback by the way he plays and i end up doing the same thing lee does almost every time

  • That guitar...my god.

Chappers mate, you were born to play Les Pauls.

  • i say no boost let the power tubes do the talking

  • @akaboo69 you can never beat the sound of pure valve overdrive

  • Try getting a Van Halen tone

  • That amp sounds sweet if you keep the boost backed off.

  • loved the limp bizkit rolling part. The pickups on that strat are Awesome! What they called? I need a set on one of my strats. Great vid as always! :)

  • I have the same mug as you Mr Chappers. Tesco win!!

  • Damn... wish the vid never stopped !!!

  • Such a GORGEOUS and VERSATILE amp! I like how you stressed the fact that just because it says "YJM" on it, doesn't mean this thing is a one-trick pony. Indeed, this is a souped up '59 Marshall, and a MUST for just about any rock guitarist!!!

  • was i the only one who picked up the naughty sex joke at 12:56

  • The biggest diffrence between USA and the UK is,...The UK is a free country and the USA is not. And the Brittish aren't even half as ignorant as the Americans are. Perhaps even more intelligent and funnier? 'sumopub' must be a American 'nuff said.

  • @bennyvx08 dude this is a guitar vid, leave that crap nonsense out of it, just enjoy the vid and leave nationalism out of it

  • @bennyvx08 doesn't mean y'all aren't ignorant. you can't say that we're all ignorant pigs. yes, there's a fair amount. but i don't think you should say we all are.

every country has its douchebags. and every country (especially one as big as America, you'd think) has its smart, functional people though.

i see where you're coming from. just please don't take us ALL for assholes. i'm pretty sure a good amount of Chappers' fans are Americans too who would agree with me.

  • Nice! I love it when you can hear the wood!

  • I was hoping you'd play some Van Halen when you were foolin around with that chipmunk lol, you got a nice brown sound groove on the go there for a minute haha, keep'em comin Chappers!

  • Strats, Les Pauls, all that kind of thing!

  • its sad that i stopped watching your channel mainly because the clips are too long and take ages to load. i just click randomly on the bar to see if anything catches my eye and ear and go back to staring mindlessly at the screen ~~

  • I love the song at the very end of the video? chappers what tunings it in?...I must hurry off and learn it

  • Rob. That was epic.

That was all I had to say.

  • Damn strat + marshall is the best blues-rock combination ever!

  • Do the new Fender Yngwie starts have the Seymour Duncan pickups or do the still have the Dimarzios because Fender webpage says they have the SD's but haven't yet seen any with the SD's.

  • capt lee seems like such a nice guy

  • hey Rob, Whats that hsh strat back there? It looks a lot like a mick mars strat.

  • @TheBigRed2010 Thats my own Strat - its just an old 80's Strat that I've customised over the years - I love it - if you want to hear it, it features in a few of the Andertons videos on YouTube. Cheers, Lee

  • @TheBigRed2010 That's Capt Lee's own Strat :)

  • not including your own MLs, what's your favourite guitar and why? you don't strike me as a stratty sort....

  • I have a paper due tomorrow at 11am, it's 1:13am, I haven't started writing it and I'm watching this *sigh* I bloody hate uni!!

  • Got to sell one of the children. This kills small animals, with great tone.

  • OMG, got to sell one of the children. This kills small animals, with great tone.

  • Some great tones right there! Although, I believe the 1960AV cabinet has Vintage 30 speakers and not Greenbacks.

  • @iBrows1 You're right - did I say Greenbacks - d'oh!! I meant V30's. Cheers, Lee

  • I love to see Lee's instant reactions :D

  • because your a marshall artist, are you allowed to have/be loaned one of these amps for yourself chappers?

  • @gnr9316 Yes of course! ;-)

  • @RobChappers do you get to keep amps from marshall ??

  • @theguitarhero1000000 Some of them, I am get to keep my JCM800 ;-)

  • @RobChappers what kind of jcm800???

  • @RobChappers i just fucking hate you for that!!! :(

  • @RobChappers didnt think marshall gave any amps away ,everyone has to pay ,according to jim marshall himself ,in his book

  • @theguitarhero1000000 when is the YJM getting released?

  • @gnr9316 He's an absolutely brilliant guitar player but why does he always shred. It just sounds like alot of noise! What about playing with feeling and dragging out some notes occaisionly?

  • Thanks for reminding me I suck.

  • Class :}

If I could afford it, I'd take an ML2 to go with the my beloved ML1!

I'd ake the ML2 over the Gibson any day ;) haha.

  • I absolutely love the les paul/ marshall sound traveling through my ear holes. What a great sound.

  • excuse me guys whilst i go change cuz that sound is the best eargasium ive ever had

  • @strayd0gg Ha ha ha I love that!! ;-)

  • @strayd0gg Haha I'm cooking a pizza right now too! lmao

  • Love the way Chappers was talking about Gibson, blatantly suggesting his ML2's better :L I want an ML2, b-b-b-baddd

  • Lee's a damn good drummer

  • i likes realy gipson guitar sound:)

  • @maxxyporky i to has like it 4swell, sounds it really beefy as just a lep paul sound should like.

  • You could do the same for the AFD100!

  • And that's why Gibson and Marshall are so good :L ear sex!

  • BTW, I think the 1960av have vintage 30s, not greenback... any way, please do the same for the AFD!

  • As soon as you put the ML2 in at the end there the pickups and the tone was just wall of win in comparison to the classic sounding LP and the bratty stratty.

  • Leeets fiind ooout. Please could you play some dream theater on ur next one? Nice one duuudes. ;) \m/

  • Rob, was that "three wishes"?, the first thing you played with the les pauls?

  • @7Kirtash7 Yes mate, good spot!! Thank for listening to my stuff ;-)

  • @RobChappers Youre more than welcome! but i must say my favourite tune is "Brothers" from Red Dream

  • What pickups are in the in the Les Paul?

  • Hey Guys - I don't know who sumopub is or what his beef is about me (I don't care either!!), but thanks for sticking up for me & all the positive comments.

  • @AndertonsMusic WE LOVE YOU LEEEEEEEE!!!!

  • Wow, I couldn't even concentrate on the video for trying to read what this "sumopub" wrote that pissed everyone off. Now I get it and I'm from the US and love these demo's. I wouldn't worry about it everyone with a name like "sum ole pub" I think that sums it up.

  • like if u get the limp bizkit referance lol

  • Hey guys will you be doing the same with the Slash amp?

  • @sumopub. You're a sad sad being...you look like one too.

  • I love Lee!

  • @senojnomis I love Lee too! Just the sorta guy you'd want to buy guitar goodies from :^ )

  • Shall we try a regular Les Paul? Okay this is a 58 RI Les Paul (costs about double the standard)

  • can you please make a review on the epiphone wilshire?

  • Lee's awesome! You're awesome! This Channel is awesome! :D

  • I prefere the sound of an unchamberd les paul :( plus it could kill someone if you hit them with it :P

  • give the poor captain a drumkit already

  • GREAT !

  • You can totally tell Yngwie was influenced by Hendrix- CBS Strat+Plexi head.

  • is someone slaggin capt lee off!! grow up, he is a top dude the chappers an lee are 2nd only to the awesome phil sex

  • good stuff :)

  • £1,515???Well Marshall just priced themselves out of the market im afraid. This is the problem with any gear from most manufacturers. Its far too expensive for what it offers. add several pedals, a decent guitar, some decent quality cables and cases for transporting all your gear around and youre looking at an average outlay of over £3000 . I sure as hell cant afford that. I doubt 80% of people who play guitar can either!

I'm disappointed. I love marshalls, but not at that price

  • that YJM head is probaly one of the best sounding marshalls out now.

  • My house and wallet just aren't big enough for all that WIN

  • would you say the AFD is chunkier?

  • i have to say i prefer the AFD100 more, could you guys post another video please?

  • That Les Paul with YJM is so eargasmic o.o

  • Don't want to offend anyone here, but this has to be said. Chappers, your demos are SOOOOO much better than the ones Chris George did of this amp.

  • OK, Chappers, umm....the ad that preceded this video was for Britney Spears new album...WTF Youtube!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Chappers, how comfortable would you say it is to play a scalloped fretboard?

  • Mr. Chapman. First off I have to say that I love your videos. The Monkeylord ones and the Anderton ones. I´ve seen alomost all of them. Damn I want your job! Looks like you guys have too much fun.

I have always been a fender guy ( Bassman, deluxe), but I want a Marshall. I mainly (try to) play classic rock. I´m looking for that 70´s rock sound, not the modern gainy stuff (if that makes sense).

Question: Apart from the YJM you tested here, which Marshall amp would you recommend?

  • I'm guessing you prefer the YJM over the AFD?
