Hi, I recall reading somewhere that the show bought a used Pantera, and put a Testarossa body on it to use as a stunt car. The sound your hearing in a Ford 351, which is can be repaired on a TV production budget.

@Jeroen4X Yeah it its a real one Ferrari saw the show thought it would be good publicity to give them one. Actually they gave them two, one for stunts I think and the other for show. That's why the Corvette replica was destroyed.
They sold this Testarossa in an auction a year ago in Finland. The police had brought it from Spain from some felon.I remember the bid was €75k. The police didn't know the condition of the car. It looked good, though. It was a -90 model.
The Testarossa used for stunts in Vice is actually a De Tomaso Pantera; the car used for close-up work is the real thing, supplied by Ferrari North America repainted white for the series.
The only problem I have with this clip is do they honestly expect people to believe a Dodge Diplomat would be any match at all for a Ferrari? The Testarossa would have given the Dodge a spanking like it's never seen

@DtRockstar1 I experienced a 512TR and I know it subtle difference between the original Testarossa but the revs when Crockett rev'ed the car it sounded more like an air cooled engine, a Porsche. Maybe im wrong but the sound of the exhaust has a drier sound on a Porsche Flat 6.
@ROCKSOLID19 Acutally, I just watched the chase scene between Crockett's Daytona (kit car) and the Countach. The revs heard in this clip sound EXACTLY like the Countach in that chase video. However, I don't think that's what a Countach sounds like either! I wonder if they overdubbed the chase scene too. :) I do agree that Porsches have a drier sound, for sure. I don't think I've heard a Porsche sound that loud though. What do you think?
@DtRockstar1 I got 2 air cooled Porsches, a 964 Turbo and a GT2. The GT2 does sound similar to the Testarossa when revved at 5 - 6000rpm. Mind you both cars have after market titanium exhaust systems and the originality is sort of slightly corrupted for the pursuit of modernising them.

Little known fact is that they used a Testarossa kit car for certain stunts when filming the show. For close ups and everything else it was the real deal Testarossa.
The problem with the daytona was that it was just a body... On top of a corvette body so Enzo didn't like that so that he set them up with the testarossa. He had them in white because he didn't like how the black Daytona blended in with the night.

I completely agree. The Testarossa was without a doubt Ferrari's most well balanced super car. I also loved the F-40, which is the fastest Ferrari ever produced.

Little known fact is that they used a Testarossa kit car for certain stunts when filming the show. For close ups and everything else it was the real deal Testarossa.

The problem with the daytona was that it was just a body... On top of a corvette body so Enzo didn't like that so that he set them up with the testarossa. He had them in white because he didn't like how the black Daytona blended in with the night.
