  • Also have a gmax helm too haha like it better than my shoei rf1000

  • Dude I get like 25mpg.. guess I ride too hard? I fill up every 120 miles :(

  • I'm 6,1 about 220 pounds and bought this bike, and i love it! I can fit on it great and with no problems. A perfect buy for anyone. Thanks craigslist

  • @Rey75050 Good to hear you were able to find one used! Have fun!

  • @alexgrz28 yes recommend it, I'm about 6'0 200 and I'm comfortable on this as my first bike

  • hello, im 6'1 180 pounds, would you recommend this bike to start off?? thank you

  • 3 months and you bought a new bike? Were you riding anything inbetween getting a license/taking a MSF course? I really would like this as my first bike, do you know any sort of cars.com for motorcycles?

  • @Yeungster23 I took my first MSF course immediately after buying the 250. I got my moto endorsement a week later. Yes, there was only a month's gap between the wreck and buying a new one, and I didn't ride at all in that time. Get the 250 but try hard to find it used. Don't waste money on dealership fees. cycletrader(dot)com is the site you're looking for, but also don't rule out craigslist.

  • @derdyserdy Thanks for replying! I'm definitely trying to get a used 08+ model (I really can't resist lol), but it seems like those are in hot demand right now. You bought it used too?

  • That looks like one of the worlds best road

  • @Gamer7511 It's really fun but pretty dangerous in some parts. Blind corners, huge cliffs...that sort of thing.

  • Where was this video made that looks like a cool place to ride.

  • @contagiouz989 Never mind should have listened to the whole vide before i posted but good luck and be careful, if you havent taken the rider safety course i would highly recommend it.. Ride Safe..

  • @contagiouz989 Yep, took all 3 that the Navy had to offer! They're really good classes!

  • well in israel you cant ride bikes with more then 35 horsepower until you are 21 years old so this bike is the best choice you've got LOL

  • I'm getting a bike in the next month and live in Oregon too. I was a little worried about the rain at first but I figure I have a truck so this can be my toy for when the weather is nice out.

  • @healingduck Once you see how much money you save on gas riding that thing, it might just turn into your daily driver (weather permitting). Hell, you could even get waterproof adventure gear and ride year-round!

  • am I tall enough for this bike? I'm 5'6".

  • @pashadadude Yes. I'm 5'5" and it was perfect.

  • @pashadadude thanks for asking that question im 5'7 . thumps up

  • Ouch bud! Hope you can fix your bike! Ride on!

  • Hey. I have a question. I'm 18, I live in Florida and I'm just now going to be getting into riding. I'm going to college and I'm looking for a cheap, affordable way of transportation, something that won't interfere with college money. Would you recommend this bike?

  • @theGuyYouHate01 Yes. Especially living in Florida with the weather you've got out there. IMO, the best route to go when starting out is to find a used one that's in good condition so you can dodge all the taxes and fees involved with buying new. These things get 60+ mpg, so you'll be saving a lot on gas.

  • @derdyserdy

Thank you for responding, I appreciate your help!

  • @theGuyYouHate01 No problem. Glad I could help.

  • @derdyserdy hey i am pretty much the same situation. i am 17 will be 18 soon. ganna be in college and really want to start riding a motorcycle. how is the insurance on it? and how much was the bike? would it be better to buy a used one or a new one? also i am 5'5" and 145 pounds. would you recommend this bike for me and would it fit me ok?

  • @KinghtHunter At 5'5" 145lbs, this bike will fit you perfectly. I'm 5'5" and was at ~155lbs when I had mine and it felt perfect. It's much better to buy used if you plan to keep the bike for a year or two and sell it. They hold their value almost as if they were new. But if you plan on owning for the life of the bike, I'd buy new so you have total control over how it's treated. Insurance at 18 is probably gonna be steep. You're probably looking at 150 a month, but you just need to shop around.

  • @derdyserdy oh ok thank you very much! that was very helpful. :) if i have any more questions would it be ok if i messaged you every now and then? lol

  • @KinghtHunter Yeah man, that'd be totally fine.

  • thank you for protecting our country bro.

  • @base7nrm You're most welcome.

  • @StrykerKnights Make sure and post up a video of you riding it after you get it. Don't forget the flip flops and shorts ;)

  • @StrykerKnights dude the maintenance on all ducati's are a pain in the god damned ass. Yeah they look cool but god...the maintenance. Get a Ninja 650r if you want a faster ninja. and when you are more advanced, a GSXR or a ZX-10

  • nice landscape

  • You ramble too fucking much

  • I'd just like to say the scenery where you live is absolutely stunning, you're very fortunate to be able to ride your bike on those roads.

  • I'm planning on selling my Ford Ranger and buying one of these!

Going back to school full-time and need to save on gas and avoid traffic.

I live in Southern California so this will be a great investment!

  • @jesseyeahdude Especially living in California! You won't believe how awesome it is getting around traffic with one of these. Lane splitting is wonderful when traffic is backed up!

  • @igottahoodie I live in vegas and in my ninja 250r just for liability coverage its $50 a mouth..if I wanted the full coverage it would be $150

  • How much does someone think the insurance would be for a 17 year old male? Unfortunately, they base my age group with immaturity so I know it will be pretty excessive.

  • would u recommend the 2011 kawasaki ninja 250r for a complete beginner?? i can't afford a car, so this seems like a good, cheap, mpg-wise alternative form of transportation... is it practical for commuting, while bringing a backpack, skateboard, etc.??

  • @xflame275 It all depends on where you live. If you live in a place where it's uncommon to see extreme weather, or it's not snowing half the year, then yes I would definitely recommend it. There's simply no way to get this good of gas mileage and have this much fun for this cheap. You could go out and find some hybrid that gets close to the same MPG, but it will cost you 5 times more and won't be any fun. All in all, like I said in the video, it's easy to learn on this bike, and I recommend it!

  • @xflame275 i would try to pick up a GS500 over one of these. From personal experience i believe it is the best beginner bike available. Its cheaper, just as, if not more fuel efficient, and has a tick more power

  • @snapnrool problem is that u dont want more power on a beginner bike....

  • its for 12 months,and im 20 yrs old

i couldnt get an online quote from state farm, the cheapest i got for full coverage is 1500 from progressive(keep in mind i chose the lowest Bodily injury and property damage) and the most expensive is geico......which unbelievably went up to 2300.....lol

  • @jahnxena Wow...yeah the quotes I was getting when I was shopping around were up there with what you're finding, but for some reason State Farm was way cheaper. It's weird. Just find the closest agent to where you live and call them up for a quote. If you don't like that one, you should try a different agent. I've noticed their quotes vary..

  • how much did u pay for insurance? i took quotes and compared, its 350-400$ if its only liability, its 1500+ if full coverage with 500 deductible on both, its expensive but then again i have never ridden a motorbike before

  • @jahnxena Is that for 6 months or 1 month? You must be relatively young to be getting quotes that high. I payed literally $18 a month for full coverage (I had to switch my car insurance over too, but even that was cheaper). I'm 25, though. Look at State Farm if you haven't already.

  • I hav it i hav rmtaken it at 183 Kmph its pretty fast & smooth bike .. U will love it

  • which frame sliders did you buy for 2011 and how much? i was searching but its always frame sliders for 2008.

  • @jahnxena I never got frame sliders for the 250 and I regretted it. any sliders you find for the 2008 should fit the 2011, since they're essentially the exact same bike (minus a couple of minor cosmetic changes).

  • whats difference between this model and 2008?

  • @danorambo Really the only difference I could find was the instrument cluster on the 2011 is white and a bit more modern looking, the exhaust is black, and I guess it has a different kind of digital ignition. So basically no important difference =)

  • @derdyserdy oh alright sweet, in the market for one these things at the moment, thanks for replay man

  • there IS a temp gauge at the bike o_o at least mine has it, and it is a 2011 250 ninja as well

  • @DihLSR Are you in the US? My bike most definitely did not have a temp gauge and I bought it in California.

  • @derdyserdy nope, I'm Brazilian, bought the bike here in my hometown Santos/SP

  • Comment removed

  • do you know how fast it goes?

  • @zachary5456 The speedo tops out at 120mph, but the fastest I could get it going was around 105. I'm also at 2400 feet elevation.

  • I'm 5'9 250lbs and its an awesome bike for me. In 16 an it's my first bike tho. Cant beat it for a first bike. Until some rich kid rolls up on his 600 and is like what a little bike and I say who payed for that dickhead.

  • whats your top speed on this bike??

  • dam where is this road at? i wanna ride on this road before i die

  • @Jinoobie 9 Mile Canyon Road in the high desert in Southern California. Watch part 1 of this video for a map view.

  • @derdyserdy He said he is in Oregon ....

  • awww that sucks...i wanna get this bike within the next 3months...are u gonna get another bike or even faster or did the wreck ruin ur thoughts and now ur done with motorcycles?

  • @FallenEliteOptic I added the explanation to the description.

  • All I could do when watching this video is look at the scenary

  • 61 MPG, 'nuff said.

  • I cracked up with "Ninja bikes" hahaha. Great review buddy, keep it up.

  • I have NO experience with shifting whether it's a car or motorcycle. Do you guys think it's a sharp learning curve or would I pick it up easy?

  • @TheDavid2222 I would almost say that it's easier than shifting in a car. You don't need experience, this is where you get the experience!

  • @derdyserdy yes easier than a car. but both are easy.

  • I'm 5'2''...110lbs....female rider...just bought this bike, passed the MSF BRC on it...and love it. I've lowered it about 3 inches too, so I feel VERY comfortable on it, and have complete stability and control. If you're 6'0'' or over and close to 200lbs you're going to throw this around like a toy...and it's not going to be very comfortable ride. I suggest a 500, or 650.

  • hey man good review...by the way im 6'3", do you think i am too big for a 250? i have no experience on a bike, but im going to go through the course and im almost positive that i want to get a 250...so tell me what you think!!

  • @janman2010 I've seen people comment on how they're over 6' and they like it just fine. Personally I can't say for sure how it'd be for you, since I've got no experience being tall... The only real way for you to know for sure is to go sit on one. If it feels cramped, you should probably look at the Ninja 650R.

  • @derdyserdy yeah thats what i've heard....never get a bike that your not comfortable on. i wanted to get a 250 because of the affordable price, and the fact that i want to be able to control the bike not the other way around!!! so hopefully it'll all work out. well i appreciate you replying man...you should make some more vids, they are really well made.

  • @derdyserdy How tall are you derdyserdy cause im 5'7". I'm not sure if im gonna be to short. I Love this bike it will be my first one.

  • @sidmann420 I'm 5'5" and it fit me perfectly.

  • Hey good job on this review. This is the best one on the 2011 that I've seen so far! I'm about to take the MSF basic course and definitely leaning toward the ninja 250r

  • @TechEpoch11 Thanks! That means a lot! If you get the 250R, you're pretty much guaranteed to love it =) (unless you are of a larger body type)

  • @derdyserdy hey i waigh about 210 am i ganna slow down the bike ?

  • @SERVER1992 It's not like the bike's not gonna work for you, but it'll probably be slower. If you need more speed, I'd look at the 650R.

  • @derdyserdy ya man but isnt that a lil to fast for a bigginer plus im looking for something cheap .

  • @TechEpoch11 me to im taking the msf course next month and this is the motorcycle i want

  • Hey good job on this review. This is the best one on the 2011 that I've seen so far! I'm about to take the MSF basic course and definitely leaning toward the ninja 250r

  • Hey thank you for posting this! I enjoyed watching the ride on the picturesque highway and the video is really great quality. Also I appreciate your input about the bike. I'm planning to get one of these as my first bike! And it IS a ninja bike, don't let anybody tell you different haha :) Thanks!

  • @brett2700 Hey, thanks a lot! I'm really glad I got this camera!

  • hey how did you mount the cammera on to the bike and what cammera did you use ?

  • @SERVER1992 The camera is a Drift Innovation HD170 and it's mounted with a suction cup mount that I found on eBay. The first part of this video (which apparently isn't getting nearly as many views) has a different mounting and angle while I ride up the mountain.

  • @derdyserdy do you recommend any other camera and any other mounts ?

  • @SERVER1992 It comes with a couple of other mounts. So far, this camera is all I have experience with, but I would recommend it. A lot of people get the GoPro HD, but it has its downsides. Both of the cameras do. The GoPro doesn't have an LCD screen like the HD170 does, so I chose the HD170. It also has a rotating lens. The only real bad thing on this camera is its mic, which isn't very good. I'm probably getting the optional external one for it.

  • @derdyserdy wow thanks that helped alot i was thinking about getting the gopro but i jsut wanted to see if they where other choices you know . and ya i herd the go pro has a pertty bad mic also so i think ima get your camera . thanks for the recommendations lol : )

  • @SERVER1992 No problem! Glad I could help!

  • And can it maintain a high speed

  • @factoryhonda347 The fastest I've ever gone on it was about 105mph, and cruising at 70-80mph was not a problem.

  • How much did it cost?

  • @factoryhonda347 MSRP in the US is $3999. I bought it here in California and ended up paying about $5k after taxes, fees, and extra Kawasaki warranty.

  • i have never rode a motorcycle in my life, but i would really like to buy one, i was just wondering is it difficult to learn how to ride? I would like a 250 ninja because i heard they are a great beginner bike, do you have any tips for me? thx

  • @coasterfreak456 its easy to learn to ride a bike. i got my license after a 2 day course (10 hours total) here in australia. having said that, i have been driving manual cars for like 4 years which helped with grapsing the concept of gear changing, plus i have awesome balance cause i surf and skate and have ridden pushbikes all my life.

  • @mrheyhowareyou Haha you pretty much just summed me up as well.

  • Cant wait till im 15 1/2 (:

  • How's the bike now? Rebuilt and still have it? Added any new parts to it? Sold it?

  • @EverythingisFire Oh no, it wasn't worth repairing (the cost was way more than the bike's worth). I just decided to go for the ZX-6R after that, since it was the ultimate goal, anyway.

  • @derdyserdy

Ah, dang dude haha I was expecting less in damage. Well, glad you made your goal there!

  • I got one yesterday, took my temps today....and took it to the roads after an hour or so of practice earlier this morning. Never took the training course before but had no problems riding it. I need to pick up my skills with signaling and right turns...which are 2 flaws i've really noticed.

  • Pretty awesome that these get 61 miles to the gallon o_0

That sounds like a dream considering what I'm paying to fill up my Mazda

  • great video i have been faithfully after this bike and u really gave me some good info. beautiful scenery and drive safe bro all that ice and snow. but thanks again. i can't wait to get my 250r. ride safe.

  • @o3KoolAidMan3o Thanks a lot! The snow and ice is gone now that summer's creeping up =D

Hopefully you grab this bike soon...it's a lot of fun!

  • @derdyserdy Yea i live in the mountains of California and the snow is finally gone. I heard you say u are on leave what branch are u in?

  • @o3KoolAidMan3o I'm in the Navy. Stationed at China Lake.

  • @derdyserdy very nice i plan to go into the U.S. Marine Corp in a year or so

  • @o3KoolAidMan3o Sweet! I've got friends in the Marines. If you get stationed out at Camp Pendleton (SoCal), you'll have plenty of places to ride.

  • @derdyserdy hahah thats exactly where i live up in the mountains by SD about a hour or so away from Camp Pendleton

  • yoshimura sells a great fender for the 2011 ninja 250r

    but yeah great video

that road is perfect except for it being a little dodgy with the corners

  • your review is informative, but i'm sorry, i couldn't focus on anything except how fucking BEAUTIFUL that road is.. no cars, tons of mellow turns, just amazing

  • @itsmanid It is a wonderful ride. Now that all the snow's gone, I'll be putting up a video of the road deeper into the mountain. It gets really fun out there!

  • @derdyserdy where do you ride? i would love to come out there and go for a drive?

  • @Zaczann I live out in Ridgecrest, CA. I'm always down to ride.

  • @derdyserdy bah! i was just in cali like a month ago to watch the 2011 nba alstar games got to drive a f430 down the cost line it was nice bro ! i wish we had places like this to ride in canada !

  • @Zaczann I'm sure Canada has better places than this, even. At least from BC to AB.

  • @derdyserdy truee. i just called places no one insures me because im to young for a motorcycle fuckin dumb people eh how old are yea?

  • @Zaczann I'm 25. That sucks that you can't get insurance! Just hold out for it, man. It's definitely worth waiting for.

  • @derdyserdy aha, yea my lowest quote was 5800 for a 12 month but its like 2600 if i do it now so i might do that but ive had to fill out all these applications nd shit. hopefully ill get it before july and then ill make some videos :p duel commentary

  • Great review man

  • @richjay01 Thanks! I try to be thorough with the time I have.

  • jealous...

  • So its your first bike? how did you learn to drive a bike? you bought one then try to learn? or used friends bike first?

  • @NoxNoctisUmbra I watched videos on YouTube, then went and bought this bike. I tried riding it a couple of times on my own, but I really learned how to ride at the MSF Basic Rider Course.

  • @derdyserdy That's great! I'm pretty much doing the exact same thing! I've watched LOADS of videos here about this bike, and when I go home for leave I'm going to take the course and buy my back when I go back to Italy. I CANNOT WAIT!

  • @Robin360 Italy, eh? I hear you can get BMW bikes out there for cheap...

  • @derdyserdy Hmm, I haven't heard that buy I'll look into it. Although I'm sure nothing is going to change my mind about getting this bike! LOL!

  • What is the gas milage? i really wanna learn how to ride a bike, i hear this is best to do so?

  • "cleans it up in the rear" ahaha

I blurted "that's what she said" when I heard that.

  • I am really looking into one of these. Few questions:

Any idea what the insurance would be like for an 18 year old male? (probably going to be ridiculous)

How long can you ride the bike (in the city and roughly 15 miles per day) before you will have to start making major repairs?

How much will the accessories (Sport jacket, gloves, helmet, etc) run you if you buy decent stuff?

    Thanks!

  • @ForeverLethal 1. Insurance prices will depend on where you live. From what I understand, living in more densely populated areas will bring up insurance premiums (since you have more of a chance of being in some type of accident). All I can really tell you is how much I payed for insurance on mine while I had it, which was $18 a month through State Farm. I AM 25, though...plus I get a discount for insuring my car with them as well. I would be surprised if you had to pay more than $100/month.

  • @ForeverLethal 2. As long as you take care of it and don't thrash it, this bike is pretty bulletproof. That's one of the reasons so many people love it. It's super dependable. Just make sure to be on time with your maintenance (especially oil changes), and definitely break it in right. I'm a huge advocate for the Motoman Hard Break-in Method. I used a slightly modified version of that method to break in my 250R and now my ZX-6R, and I can tell you that it works awesome if you do it right.

  • @ForeverLethal 3. It depends on what your definition of 'decent' is. If you're talking strictly about functional, then you can get away with spending less. If you're talking about being functional AND looking cool...then you can expect to pay more. The price of the gear I have on in this video is about $460 (helmet, jacket, gloves, boots), but I have friends that spent less on theirs. PLEASE NOTE that you can make sacrifices on some stuff, but never make any on the quality of your helmet!

  • @Sesshyrin28 u can tell when it's warmed up by the tac. When it's cold and play with throttle it goes up to about 5k and bogs down. When it's warm it'll go all the way easily. And depending on outside temp will determine how long it takes.

  • so being a beginner...if there is no temperature gage...how do you kno when its warmed up?

  • @Sesshyrin28 In the manual it says to adjust the choke so that the engine doesn't exceed 3000 rpm while it's warming up. This means you gotta start the bike with the choke all the way or mostly on (depending on how cold it is outside) and then adjust it so that the tach reads just under 3k rpm. You just keep lowering the choke when the engine gets to 3k rpm until eventually you have the choke all the way off. In cold weather, it used to take me up to 15 minutes to warm it up =\

  • Def love this vid. The first person perspective really adds to the desire i have for a starter bike. GREAT JOB :D I thought all bikes were ninjas aswell when I was a kid :P

  • Def love this vid. The first person perspective really adds to the desire i have for a starter bike. GREAT JOB :D

  • Parents just bought me this for graduation! Can't wait to get riding!

  • @sn1p3r3600 Sounds like you've got some pretty awesome parents!

  • @derdyserdy my parents didnt buy me shit.

  • @AtLeastIHaveChikn That's good though. Neither did mine. It builds character.

  • @sn1p3r3600 my parents might get me one for highschool is it good for someone whos never drivin clutch? But I basicly knows how it all works.

  • @SargentAngel Absolutly!

I was in the same boat, new to clutch but had a knowledge of it. I picked it fairly fast, maybe 3 days and it seems fairly natural. Controls are smooth, and you can really feel the bike under you.

  • @sn1p3r3600 my dads even more sure hes getting me one now, thanks to you! He even requested a quote and said we could, maybe, pick it up next month!

  • @SargentAngel Awesome! Glad I could help! Be safe.

  • Nice vid dude...I just got mine a week ago and Id have to agree with pretty much everything you said. I havent pushed it to hard yet cause its my first bike and I wanna take it slow but im lovin so far. And yeah...I used to think all sportsbikes were ninjas 2

  • Near Ridgecrest, CA?! I used to go there for vacation, my grandma lived there. Didn't know a place like this was around there.

  • @elitesmg Yep, it's called 9 Mile Canyon Road and it's north of Inyokern on the 395. This road actually goes past Kennedy Meadows and eventually ends up near Kernville.

  • i love this bike.....ninja 250R!

  • This is my favourite bike vid ever

  • @starksy17 Wow, that's awesome. Thank you!

  • Wow, wish I had roads like that around, thats gorgeous.

  • Where are you riding?

  • @viper1180 9 Mile Canyon Road at the edge of the Sequoia Mountains in southern California. Part one of this video shows the exact location on a map.

  • Where are you riding at? It looks like a awesome ride.

  • thanks for the video! im one month away and counting from getting mine :)

  • can u put wider tires on this?

  • @spargus18 From what I understand, yes, but only a little bit wider.

  • really good video highly informative. good job

  • @fallenmonkeytieryu Thanks a lot!

  • This road is amazing ! where is this

  • @Jefri91 9 Mile Canyon Road at the edge of the Sequoia Mountains in southern California. Part one of this video shows the exact location on a map.

  • Ur too big @trustcmp. Im 180 and this seems to be enough for the 250r. Plus freeway riding is not its forte. I suggest you get the 600. Even a 400 should be enough for u. Plus the torque of the ninja 250 is the lowest compared to the honda CBR or the Hyosung GT250
