@clarionflyer Unfortunately I must disagree, most people don't want to think about their music. They just want a catchy tune. Which is really too bad, because it sidelines true baddasses like Rush!
@ZeppelinClassics i agree with your comment. i hate most rock and roll, but this song isn't just the damn 4 chords that are overused in modern rock today. it is actually a work of musicianship, and something very unique.
@ZeppelinClassics it doesn't matter how awesome the music is. a 17-12 year old's logic is that if people without social status don't listen to a certain music, then that music is dubbed by them as gay forevermore. because those fucking dipshits are the gods of cool.
i don't think Alex gets the credit he deserves, he is an amazing guitar player, but being in a band with Neil's amazing, almost god like drumming and Geddy Lee the man who can do everything its tough. Alex definitely deserves to be recognized more for the skill and the epicness he brings.
@TheTajinator9000 i don't really care what their listening to, but there needs to be alot more radio stations with this kind of music on it. rock or nothing.
Rush = most instumentally talented band on the planet, Alex lifeson is a great guitarist, Neil Peart is just insanely awesome and Geddy Lee is a bloody fantastic bassist and keyboardist... singing's not half bad either :)
My stage fright would do me in the moment I laid eyes on that audience. *Faints*
And Neil is...beyond description. No words in the English language are good enough to accurately convey his brilliance. Drumming and lyrical genius, to say the least. <3
You're correct in everything you said, but you left out one thing - song writing, and that's where Rush will always trump Wooten, IMO. Every time I hear him his tone turns me off. He has that nasal tone that I don't care for. I also hate pop & slap style bass so whenever I hear that I'm gone right from the start, and regardless of how technically difficult his double-thumb technique is, I can't stand the sound of that either. He's gifted, but I have zero interest in him.
@JeffRotull43 I'm sorry but he's not suffering from blind fandom, don't ever use that as a constructive arguement. Geddy Lee is an incredible bassist and rated usually within the top three of all time. I'm quite sure Geddy can play Victors stuff, my friend can for god sakes and he's nineteen, and if you think Alex Lifeson isn't incredible guitarist check out other stuff. This is far from any of his best. 2112, La Villa Strangiato. Also, Chris Squire is also twice as good as Victor......
@JeffRotull43 Besides, it's all a matter of opinion anyways. I have mine and you have yours. Neither is right or wrong. But don't ever say Geddy couldn't play his stuff because he can, I know he could. Also, please don't use this as a prime example of Alex's playing, he has far greater stuff as mentioned above, also Xanadu is another incredible one. Jus for humor's sake, it's physically impossible to play bass in your sleep.
those are the best instrumentalists of each of their respective instruments EVER!!!!!
I can accept that about Neil, but sorry, but both Geddy and Alex aren't even close. Type in Flecktones and check out Victor Wooten on bass; or Steve Morse of the Dregs on guitar I can name many more that totally outdo these two.
@kbretones thank you for adding your opinion, it gets so annoying when people try to pass opinion as fact. Although, to add my own opinion, Carl Palmer and Michael Giles.
