  • It was just... hypnotizing!

  • damn who knew tom hanks mucked the drums like a fucking savage

  • This has ruinned every other drum solo for me!

  • Gotta love that sound of the crowd going crazy after every bass fill. :D

  • whoa... Tom hanks?! haha :)

  • this was when music actually involved instruments not computer generated sounds or djing equipment

  • yyz and stairway to heaven... for me the best songs of all time

  • so far 114791 pers. have seen this video and 11 disliked it. That's 0,0096% that dislikes this = SO F****** WHAT !!! ;-)

    It's a masterpiece PERIOD

  • A band that sounds better live than the recording :O

  • 1:27 - 1:34 = DEM HARMONICS.

  • amazing drum artist.....

  • i'm a sperm cell and i listen to rush

  • where can i see the whole thing the band are just unreal.....squeak!

  • eleven person on the earth are stupid to not like this master piece

  • Geddy looks best with the ponytail.

  • whoa whoa rush is a bad made of gods and little kids should definitly listen to them but katy perry is a babe

  • This is just sooo f*'n great. In my eyes Rush is one of the greatest bands ever. I hear they still play i Canada, but I live in Europe.

One of my great regrets is that I did not get to see Jethro Tull before '78, but I was born in '65 so ...

I would so love to see Rush.

  • is it just me or does alex lifeson look like kiefer sutherland?

  • @jfriesen39 Not as much as Neil Peart looks like Tom Hanks xD

  • o00o si!!! musika maravillosa... demasiado orgasmeante... XD

  • i think they're so much better than the beatles!!! I <3 RUSH!!!

  • The 11 people that disliked this video are jealous of Rush's skill

  • lets face it. one of the reasons we like this song so much is because we could ALL do without whats her faces singing for a while x)

  • History proves dark ages! We've definitely been in a musical dark age for a while now.

    It'll come back.

Unfortunately, most of the new music plays what they "THINK" everyone wants.

Blah, blah. What everyone wants is SKILL.

These guys have it. That's why I'm here.

  • @clarionflyer Unfortunately I must disagree, most people don't want to think about their music. They just want a catchy tune. Which is really too bad, because it sidelines true baddasses like Rush!

  • A SHOW OF HANDS....FODA ESSE SHOW....SÓ MUSICÃO.

  • dude this song automatically makes you move one body part to the tempo cause it jams that fucking hard!

  • how could this get ANY dislikes like really wtfffffffffff man

&wow just saw Rush in concert last night and it was amazing..mind melting

  • niel fucking pert is a genious

  • ... my mind just blew

  • MAgic

  • they all make it look easy. ahhhhhh i wanna be that good one day!

  • THERE IS NO FUCKING DRUMMER BETTER THAN NEIL PERT!!!!

  • most. awesome. drum. solo. EV@R!!!!

  • @DeloreanFanatic i like the exit stage left one better

  • I am SO learning this on drums!

  • 11 people apparently have horrible taste in music

  • WHO CAN DISLIKE THTIS HONESTLY!!!!

  • Hey look there is a synth player all of the sudden...oh wait where's the bassist? oh snap...same guy...

  • rush rules

  • lol they could make a person that doesnt play there instrument sound good in there band

  • words cannot describe the talent and skill of that percussionist.Between Mr Lee and Mr Peart, it is like setting up an Oscar winner for best actor.

  • god said let there be rock..... Rush said say please

  • Geddy had some pretty insane hair

  • Rush Rules because it's 3 dudes "Making Modern Music" without 1 backup singer.

  • That's 3 dudes making this music and not 1 Backup singer.

    Rush Rules!

  • Whether you like rock music or not, there's just absolutely no way you could NOT like this.

  • @ZeppelinClassics correct you are

  • @ZeppelinClassics i agree with your comment. i hate most rock and roll, but this song isn't just the damn 4 chords that are overused in modern rock today. it is actually a work of musicianship, and something very unique.

...plus niel peart is an incredible musician

  • @ZeppelinClassics it doesn't matter how awesome the music is. a 17-12 year old's logic is that if people without social status don't listen to a certain music, then that music is dubbed by them as gay forevermore. because those fucking dipshits are the gods of cool.

  • I... Just.... Came

  • i don't think Alex gets the credit he deserves, he is an amazing guitar player, but being in a band with Neil's amazing, almost god like drumming and Geddy Lee the man who can do everything its tough. Alex definitely deserves to be recognized more for the skill and the epicness he brings.

  • @DylanP311 Alex proves that in 2112 =)

  • Whoa...

  • is he freestyling or is this actually how the song goes?

  • @italianstalion04 he is freesyling for the solo, but not the res of the song..

  • what year is this from?

  • this just makes me want april to come sooner...thats when theyre coming to Cleveland, and im going :D :D :D

  • @ostritchman101 so am i!

  • @ostritchman101 lucky!

  • Lars Ulrich pressed 10 times the dislike button

  • The audience should not even attempt to clap along with Neil's drum solo, no one can do it. They must instead watch and be amazed!

  • this is what little kids should be listening to instead of that katty perry crap

  • @TheTajinator9000 dag rith

  • @TheTajinator9000 i don't really care what their listening to, but there needs to be alot more radio stations with this kind of music on it. rock or nothing.

  • @TheTajinator9000 you got that right

  • @TheTajinator9000 her music videos are great... on mute

  • @TheTajinator9000 there's one thing with katy perry that's not crap.. her tits.

  • @TheTajinator9000 This is real music and i'm 15 :)

  • the drum solo bores me, honestly. very cool song nonetheless.

  • every time i see this vid i am more impressed with these guys and neil on the drums amazzing!!!

  • @jas0nv00r33s and he uses every bit of it

  • flawless band

  • i dont like this....

    I LOVE IT=D=D=D

  • Gary Sinise is a closer match than Tom Hanks

  • It's too good for my brain or my ears to comprehend. WAY too good.

  • i love when peart does those crossovers at the 4:14 mark! that looks so damn cool!

  • 10 guys are idiot

  • when was this?

  • y ahora Rush en Chile!!!

    k genial!!!

    eso estara de seguro buenisimo!!!!!!

    al igual k este video!

  • NEIL PEART!

  • 1:00 one of the best riffs of all time

  • how many drummers would it take to screw in a lightbulb? 100. 1 to change the lightbulb and 99 to say neil peart could do better

  • Just completely took my breath away all 3 are gods in thier own right neil Peart made something leak from my penis

  • that was......amazing

  • Rush = most instumentally talented band on the planet, Alex lifeson is a great guitarist, Neil Peart is just insanely awesome and Geddy Lee is a bloody fantastic bassist and keyboardist... singing's not half bad either :)

  • And by the way, Geddy looks so good here, mullet included. *Giggle*

But then again, that's true for any video of any Rush era. He was gorgeous thirty plus years ago and is gorgeous now. <3

  • 1:50...Holy Rush, that's a lot of people. O_O

My stage fright would do me in the moment I laid eyes on that audience. *Faints*

And Neil is...beyond description. No words in the English language are good enough to accurately convey his brilliance. Drumming and lyrical genius, to say the least. <3

  • my fave video on youtube

this video rocks my fuckin face off every time

  • that bass solo part from 1:45 - 2:16 sounds so much better without the effect on his bass!!

  • This deserves 100,000,000,000 views!!!!!!

  • When is this from? I just saw them last night and Neil looks so different.

  • @xxxSTAxxx the early 80's my friend

  • this is the fiftieth time ive watched this vid, and i JUST now see the giant timpani next to him haha

  • i like how at 6:16 he pretty much stops his solo just to hit that cymbal lol

    LEGEND!!!!

  • 3:40 Moar cowbell? Here you go.

  • HARDEST FUCKN BASS LINE TO COVER!!! LOVE IT THOUGH!!!!!

  • @Leheno It takes 3 gifted musicians to cover this song well. Very few can pull it off.

  • me and my friends played this for a talent show... its crazy hard

  • Seems people are forgetting the drum king of them all - John Bonham. Also JPJ is hugely underrated.

  • Comment removed

  • shit that bass is amazing

  • the best rock band in the world ever

  • wooten, morse are like kids compared to geddy and alex!

  • You're suffering from blind fandom, man.

This is my method of comparison:

Could Victor cover Geddy's licks? In his sleep!

Could Geddy play what Victor plays? Trust me - Geddy would tell you himself that he couldn't!

  • @JeffRotull43

You're correct in everything you said, but you left out one thing - song writing, and that's where Rush will always trump Wooten, IMO. Every time I hear him his tone turns me off. He has that nasal tone that I don't care for. I also hate pop & slap style bass so whenever I hear that I'm gone right from the start, and regardless of how technically difficult his double-thumb technique is, I can't stand the sound of that either. He's gifted, but I have zero interest in him.

  • @JeffRotull43 I'm sorry but he's not suffering from blind fandom, don't ever use that as a constructive arguement. Geddy Lee is an incredible bassist and rated usually within the top three of all time. I'm quite sure Geddy can play Victors stuff, my friend can for god sakes and he's nineteen, and if you think Alex Lifeson isn't incredible guitarist check out other stuff. This is far from any of his best. 2112, La Villa Strangiato. Also, Chris Squire is also twice as good as Victor......

  • @JeffRotull43 Besides, it's all a matter of opinion anyways. I have mine and you have yours. Neither is right or wrong. But don't ever say Geddy couldn't play his stuff because he can, I know he could. Also, please don't use this as a prime example of Alex's playing, he has far greater stuff as mentioned above, also Xanadu is another incredible one. Jus for humor's sake, it's physically impossible to play bass in your sleep.

  • those are the best instrumentalists of each of their respective instruments EVER!!!!!

I can accept that about Neil, but sorry, but both Geddy and Alex aren't even close. Type in Flecktones and check out Victor Wooten on bass; or Steve Morse of the Dregs on guitar I can name many more that totally outdo these two.

  • @JeffRotull43 Don´t forget John Petrucci or John Myung.

  • The best version of this song!!!

  • whenever im having a shit day this totally fixes it

  • i do believe my head exploded as those are the best instrumentalists of each of their respective instruments EVER!!!!!

  • This is the best freakn' jam ever!!!

  • U mean Tom hanks looks like Neil Peart

  • Every time Neil Pert touches a cymbal the Devil pisses himself

  • neil peart really looks like tom hanks : o

  • MAN! That must of took some time to make it sound this tight!

  • i can watch this over and over again

  • There is a god.

  • Church of Peart.

  • the holy trinity

  • FUCKIN EPIC

  • Neil Peart = DRUM GOD no one can touch him, my opinion

  • @kbretones your opinion? thats not opinion, thats a law of physics

  • @kbretones thank you for adding your opinion, it gets so annoying when people try to pass opinion as fact. Although, to add my own opinion, Carl Palmer and Michael Giles.

  • @kbretones Keith Moon was better. As was Mitch Mitchell (Hendrix) and Ginger Baker (Cream)

  • @BestMusicExpert gtfo pussy

  • @SCUDGEj0ckey Gee, sorry, I do like Neil Peart, but the 3 I posted are better, natural fact, sorry...

  • @BestMusicExpert lol thats why he was ranked #1 almost anywhere you idiot?

  • @SCUDGEj0ckey maybe in canada, certainly not in england and slight possibility in the USA. I'm sure it depends on where it was taken, but then again Canada doesn't have many other contenders....thanks for being poolite BTW!

  • @BestMusicExpert whatever you certainly are not the "bestmusicexpert" though, i'll let you know right now.

  • @SCUDGEj0ckey Oh I quite am the BestMusicExpert out there. just because I KNOW that Keith Moon, Ginger Baker & Mitch Mitchell could drum CIRCLES around Peart, doesn't make me not....

  • @BestMusicExpert still doesn't change the fact that fucking suck shit faggot

  • @SCUDGEj0ckey Do you have tourettes? Or are you just an asshole? Aside from the fact that what you posted made ZERO sense, try having an intelligent conversa... oops, sorry, gotta have intelligence first.

  • @BestMusicExpert By the way, if you were an expert, you would know that drumming is basically timekeeping, which Neil Peart does extremely well.

  • @HAN56HAN I never EVER said Neil Peart was not good. I said that Moon, Mitchell and Baker were better. I'd put Peart in the top 10 all time. Also in it would be Bonham, Steve Gadd, Roger Taylor (Queen) and Hal Blaine among others....

  • @BestMusicExpert

But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Peart is no better, but no worse than either.

Basically who that specific person thinks is the best, is who the best is to them.

  • @kbretones there's only a couple that come near him, the first ones that come to mind are, gene krupa, ginger baker, and John Bohnam, the only difference between John Bohnam and Niel Pert is Niel Pert doesnt sound as booming, but it is basically the same drum fills. Bonzo does the same shit just it's even more booming, not powerful cause they're both equal in my opinion.

  • @kbretones oh btw anyway you're right no one can touch him cause everybody else is dead other then ginger baker, and his styles more flowery anyway and not as big.

  • @kbretones no one except chuck norris :D

  • harald 136. i guess you have never seen Rush in concert - I saw them about 20 years ago, Peart used a drum kit at least as big as the one in the video, and used every part of it in the concert! The guy is the absolute fucking bee's bollocks.....

  • so eighties but guitar sound and the whole song kick's ass well i think that neil peart doesn't need so big set well at least this size is normal compared to terry bozzio who suck's so bad

  • lol I love the bass and drum solos starting at 1:40. Geddy looks like hes having so much fun.

  • the bass is pretty good to

  • @tannerchase19 its actually harder then the guitar part

  • and to think Rush hasn't been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

  • You mean the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame :-)

  • well there is a LOT of talent in there... but they should be ashamed of themselves for not inducting Rush.

If it's not done in the next 5 years.. I'll eat my own shoe.

  • Considering the Hall of Shame (and I stick to this name) is a private exercise of a few people we should not care to much. It took them until the mid 90's to introduce Led Zeppelin but they introduced Madonna and Michael Jackson and Grandmaster Flash for sure great artists but Rock and Roll?... this should us tell something

  • Metallica said after beeing inducted that they want to open the door the other bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Rush, Motorhead to name a few.

  • Double bass? That's for pussies! Niel Pearl actually has two bass drums; and twelve symbols, and a marimba!

  • For me, there are no better drummers than Joey Jordison, Neil Peart and Chris Adler.

  • @wart24 Keith Moon....

  • @Midnite1nuyasha No. He´s too overrated for my liking.

  • @wart24 Overrated?

    How so?

  • @Midnite1nuyasha & wart24 John Bonham...

  • UNBELIEVABLE!!!

  • i think with how good the rhythm section is on this band (pert and lee are both top 2 or 3 at their respective instruments) alex lifeson gets overlooked... he is REALLY good. one of the best of his era.

  • I think Alex Lifeson inspired Kirk Hammett alot, I see a lot of Lifeson in Kirk's playing, its crazy cause like you said Lifeson I find is overlooked and is much better than those overated guys like Halen or Steve Vai.

  • @jetsguy74 DAMN RIGHT.

  • EPIC

  • Airhumping ftw

  • What a Percussionist. When I think of heaven made matches these 3 are damn near tops !!!

  • F***ing brliiant

  • o.....m....g..... these guys are EPICLY HARDCORE

  • i ment bass srry typing too fast

  • those short base solos are just incredible

  • I think as far as technical skill it's pretty hard to touch claypool, but you have to remember that Geddy Lee is perhaps his biggest influence on bass. So really, you gotta give them both credit.

  • Les is good. He will open for GEDDY.

  • ahaha 2:48 neils epic drumstick throw XD

  • SICK DRUMMER:D

  • yeah, neal peart is great.

  • yay

  • Geddy=Best Bassit in the world

  • i have to disagree, les claypool is better
