I think there is a bit of history between Joe and Joan - he clearly knows how to get under her skin! In fairness to her, she was the only Dail politician who raised the question about the Unicredit Bank risk manager who resigned over dodgy practices the bank was undertaking. (Google for whistleblowerirl )
No other politician in the Dail raised this huge issue (Brian Lenihan of course dodged the question as usual) - you have to give her credit for that.

Christ almighty and to think she will be elected td as part of a coalition with fg, and have a say over where my money goes, that scares me. And At this rate, presuming the bailout does not cause Ireland to default, which it almost certainly will, and that the interest rate is kept at around 5.8 percent, which it wont, each citizen will be indebted with over 20,000 euro (on top of mortgage, fees, taxes, bills, the kids etc). 80+ billion euro and 4 million citizens, do the math yourselves.

And I think its a low blow today for her to try and justify her behaviour by waving the sexist card at Vincent Browne. Joan Burton could not hide a base dislike of Joe Higgins. Never liked her. But she knows her stuff, and here she's taking on two of the biggest windbags on the Irish political scene -- Browne and Higgins, both of whom are in love with the sounds of their own voices. Yes, she probably had a glass or two of wine, TV lights make someone drunker in such circumstances. She was rude to the others, but not quite as rude as some, even a majority of the commenters here. A lot of hateful, violent anti-woman rhetoric that should have no place in politics.
