is this one of those.. I think it was called 'grey imports'.. they couldn't technically sell them as VW's (hence no badging that I could see, outside or in), and were legally registered as an older VW due to being a new(er) body on an older chassis?.. seems to me they tried that for awhile here in Canada but I guess they had to charge too much for the cars for it to be popular :-(.
Interesting that it has the same 4-button steering wheel as other VW models in '86. Also odd that there are two exhaust pipes instead of one, and no vents on the engine cover. Good looking car.
