Well, since the replay was cut off before you find out why they were arguing, you can only guess. Wouldn't be surprised if Hillin was mad at Petty for hitting him. Heck, not like he couldn't see him coming onto the track. Just looks like he had plenty of time to turn, rather than locking the brakes up.

Unsers main car was wrecked in the 125's so in this race he was in a Kenny Schrader back up car

When cars are moving that fast and they hit something or get hit, things break....brake lines, steering boxes, tie rods.....he had ZERO control!! Whadda ya think he's thinkin'?.."Oh man...if I can time this just right I can smack into Kyle.....I'd love to take him out of the race...and I might even hurt myself in the process!".....My bet is, he's thinkin'.."Holy shit!...This might hurt!"

Jeff was a rookie at some point, he's way better now than he was then, especially with pushing it when it needs to be pushed. He was pretty bad in those races after Daytona and crashed out and tore up a lot of stuff. At one point, Darrell Waltrip told Rick he'd never make it. Once Gordon figured out how to push the car when he needed to, results started coming, and did they ever.

Kyle was so angry because of two reasons. 1. he sat on the pole that day and was in position to win a cool 1,000,000 dollars if he won the race, don't forget this is 1993 that was a LOT of money then. 2. Hillen didn't keep his car down in the grass after spinning out, a very foolish mistake at Daytona.

Essentially though, Kyle just wanted to walk away and Hillen wouldn't stop trying to apoligize! He shoulda just let Kyle steam it off and wait till later!

Yea, i remember him saying that in the post race interview. The problem I had with this incident when it happened is I drove a Busch series car at Pocono in the stock car experience back in 2001 and one of the first things they teach you and stress to you is anytime you spin out, lock it down and turn left into the grass. Hillen with or without brakes was trying to get control of his car instead of locking it down. Sucks, but that's racing ultimately.

OK Amazinfanatic31, tell us how it is Hillin fault. 1) when Unser hit him in the right front it either knock out the steering or the brakes and 2) when you go that fast in the infield grass it is hard to steer and stop.

Kyle was mad and I don't blame him because Hillin should have kept his car on the grass and not come back onto the track in traffic. A lot of young guys don't understand that concept. If you can keep the car up or down it makes it a hell of a lot easier to get by. Kyle had a point here!
