  • Once upon a time when I was 20 years younger, Middle Tennesee State performed "First Circle" for a "Day of Percussion" in Georgia sponsored by the percussive arts' society. Their director asked the audience to tap their toes to the beginning (which is what I believe your first few measure fell into (and how cool was that?) that it almost fit. Not easy to do even with the editing, and again, you show that technology can be your friend OR can allow some things to slide. Keep going...

  • put an annotation over the video because people don't read the descriptions.

  • fake and gay

  • I think it's interesting to change the sequence. For my students I created a puredata patch that does the phase shifting but you put the claps in as a binary array.

  • This is WAY better than the original. You could use a little more bass though.

  • @L0VECHILDD Maybe a bit OTT. No-one can be better than the original, but he does a good job of his own interpretation :)

  • It's easy. I can do it from memory :P

  • beautiful jingle

  • yea, it's not the right pattern in steve's piece. his pattern is: 3 2 1 2 (..._.._._..), and yours is: 1 2 1 1 2 (._.._._._..). so you're not really performing steve reich, but something else. and the cheating part you probably mean is the 'video-editing-made' instead of... 'hand-made' delay.

  • @octavianmihailescu I know all about the correct pattern (which I have now updated the information box to explain this, so people don't have to explain it to me again). I confused it with an African drumming rhythm.

(I should probably record the correct rhythm so people will stop making that comment!)

  • is it even the same music?

it sounds different in the beginning...

  • No it's different. That's why I wrote "It's not note for note the same."

  • just think when you play it:

I like you (rest) I rea-(rest)lly (rest) like you (rest)

just repeat that for the real thing. The majority or Reich's pieces have that rhythm in it; it has been dubbed the "reich rhythm"

  • I'm going to try to literally do this, except make it a vocal piece with these lyrics.

  • Come on - we want the REAL thing!!! It's not that hard with two different people.

  • actually i learned this all by myself, so it's harder for me to play this with someone else lol....but it just feels natural now, i can play almost any foot pattern over it too(i have videos of it on my profile)

  • really frickin hard, have to do it at school for msuic

  • That's why I cheated!

  • dude you look alot like me. I am starting to get creeped out looking at you. It's like a mirror. Cool vids though.

  • wrong basic rhythm, I think - but cool idea anyway

  • Yes, I realized this shortly after I posted it (hence the mention in the information box ;-) ).

  • interesting....mmmm....well... yes I see....
