yes porterbrook would have had this scrapped idiots, thank god someone saved it im sure its in the hands of beaver sports now with royal scots grey, god save beaver and martin walker , well done martin, hope the 2010 royal; scot retro railtour goes well may 31st, cmon everbody get supportin this all funds go to the upkeep of these fantastic deltic machines, ohh and porterbrook , UP YOURS
@wattass7 There is no way in the world Porterbrook would have scrapped this loco. Porterbrook has done more for railway preservation than you will ever know, and since this loco was painted for publicity what do you think would be the effect of letting any harm come to it?
@ianwalmsley2 yes i think your right, it wasnt porterbrook ( my appologies ) i think it was either h n r or the ones after that , i know now after porterbrook it went to 2 more owners and there was a lot of spec that it would be scrapped if no buyer found so again thanks to beaver sports for the purchase, i love deltics we have only 6 left and would love to see them all on the mainline again, must admit though i loved this livery , thanks for putting me right
Porterbrook is a company who own around a third of the rolling stock on the railways. They in turn lease the stock to the rail companies, predominately Freightliner.
Sing for Daddy!!!! what a great sound these make. Now I ask what's the story about 9016 with rumour's that she could be about to get scrapped!!?? I hope not as she deserves to live, I mean it's a piece of our rail history etc.Nice video by the way 5*****.Cheers
I may be the odd one out here, but I think it looks very smart! Nice that a "modern" company is interested in heritage. I just wish First would adopt tha same policy.
Two Tone livery was always better in my opinion no matter what the colour scheme is. Just Rail Blue all over made them look slab sided but I guess its a question of personal taste and opinion.
Aah the purple on eh? I only ever saw D9016 in that livery at Doncaster, shortly before it's repaint into BR green. Nevertheless, there's nothing like the sweet sound of two napier deltic engines is there? Nice clips!
Many people didn't like the Porterbrook livery - I think it doesn't look bad at all. I remember when the Deltics were taken out of service 'Gordon Highlander' was reckoned to have been in dreadful condition in comparison with some of the others. They've done a great restoration job.
You just can't beat the sound of a Deltic - amazing.

fantastic machines in looks and sound.. for me they look most handsome in BR blue with blue cab roofs & headcodes.

This is the luckiest Deltic surviver, and it's wonderful to hear that sound. Pure music to the ears!!

painting gordan in that scheme is sacrilege,
it should be either two tone green or BR blue.

no need to be touchy about it. he's just saying it was restored well

It was a very big advert. It was also a lot more fun, but one thing it would never be was profitable.
