Hi! Do you have shoot onlye the light projection of the 8mm projector, with no film, or it was projecting a clear leader? I lke the result. Very close to 8mm look. (sorry, I don't speak English very well =)
I see a lot of times some directors try to do good tinks in film cameras but the films are crabs but anothers make great thinks in digital....we rent before film cameras but now we have hvx 200 and sony ex1 and lenses convertion and its the great deal.
The pulsing is actually completely real from the 8mm projector I used. I only used a computer to edit together the shots and combine the real 8mm film grain/scratches with the DV footage.
Pretty nice technique. I have plenty of stuff shot on film, though I never had anything close to a good transfer. The film stock in this clip - though kind of hard to tell, looks good enough to be 16mm. Do you use 8mm negative? Here in the states, I think only reversal is available.
I didn't use any plug-in. I got some Super 8mm film footage that was just a white projection with film dust and scratches, then I overlayed that footage on top of my digital footage using Sony Vegas 6.0 (does most things Final Cut can do).
This is great! Can you explain a little bit more about how the overlay process worked? How did you manage to keep the white light from the Super 8 footage from washing out your digital footage in the composite?
I'm pretty sure I used either the "overlay" or "multiply" composite mode on the Super 8mm footage. I used Sony Vegas 6.0 to edit and do all the effects. I played around with the brightness/contrast until the scratches showed up how I wanted them to.
Ah, very smart. I'd love to get a copy of that footage. I could see it being useful at some point. Though I'm not sure my version of FCP handles HDV footage... :-/
Nice work.

looks good except for the pulsing - which looks too computer generated

Kodachrome 8mm Colour Reversal. Out of stock these days but you can still find it if you look hard enough.

You mean the 72mm wide lens adapter?

Hello:
Where can you buy the Panasonic AG HVX200 35mm SLR camera lens adapter from? This is great quality. Let me know, thanks.

I wouldn't have any idea. We didn't use a 35mm lens for this. Just the regular wide-angle.

Where did you get the super 8mm footage?

I shot it myself with my Super 8 camera and projected it and then shot the projection with a Sony HDV camera.
