  • ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡YO LO QUIERO¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • 7:36 How can you skip Jaco Fretless Bass ?

  • 8:39 was a fucking SEXY harmonica sound. omg. And the choir at 6:36 was gorgeous

    What a win keyboard.

  • What a fantastic piano sounds demo from Sweetwater! I love this Kurzweil PC3X synth - just amazing isn't it? Gorgeous lovely sounds....put to shame many of the more expensive synths out there!

  • Why do these demons for so many workstations neglect or ignore the electric guitar samples or emulations?

  • To anyone thinking of purchasing this keyboard, it has been superceeded by the PC3K8. Same board, but capable of using legacy sound files. This machine is the finest of its kind. Contrary to other comments, Kurzweil has THE BEST piano sounds on any keyboard of any kind on the market. The organ, clavinet and the strings are perfection. And it has analog synth sounds available too. I own it, I compared it to all the rest, I feel the price is very low because of the capability. Buy nothing else!

  • The price of the Kronos is 2,5 x higher than this beast. When you dont want to spend al lot money, buy this one. Its great!!

  • It's a fantastic keyboard, but I think the Kronos is better and a better deal, both. The Kronos is more flexible, more capable, and has better acoustic grand and electric piano sounds. This keyboard has terrific analog bass, but so does Korg. Nord Stage EX might have the edge on both when it comes to organ sounds. I'll probably buy the Kronos, though--I am pretty impressed by it. Korg is a cool company, too--they look after their customers and honor their warrantees.

  • i didnt like the piano samples

  • i dont like this i prefer nord clavia stage ex

  • How many Quick Access-Banks may we store in the PC3 ???

  • thenoblequran (Ctrl+Enter)

  • I' m from brazil..is bealtiful keyboard!!! very good.

  • Just got mine yesterday and I have finally found my favorite board. I've owned Yamaha's Roland's Kawai, and Korg and NOTHING has ever come close to the quality of the sounds and features this board offers. I have to go to work and I can't wait to get home to dive into this tonight. FIVE STARS!

  • Really now when I'm on the market for a new workstation I consider the Fantom G, Yamaha XF, Korg Kronos and was about to add Kurzweil PC3 to the list with a super ribbon controller, but... With the screen size being almost the same as the screen on the K2600 rack it's just not relevant.

  • This is the weak point on the keyboard, a small mono color display as a monitor of a computer of 80 years.

Kurzweil engineers! Think carefully about what I'm talking about the keypad display.

  • the keyboard has sounds incredible and wonderful! The sad and estre minuscule display to a keyboard with as much added value! If today we have cell phones with large displays and colorful multe very low cost does not understand why the engineers did refurbishments technology these LCD screens is cheap for a keyboard as wonderful as this.

  • Is this a "stage piano" or a "synthesizer"?

  • @Angel94angel94 This is a "workstation". But it sure can do everything a stage piano and a synthesizer does - and much more =)

  • As a 2600 owner I can attest that reliability has been a continuing problem with ownership. Any data on the current model?

Tech told me all the guys playing Broadway have two in case one breaks.

    Like the old Jaguars...

  • Anyone knows if you can plug in a korg nanokeys or nano pad to trigger chords or control?

  • @TheDanielFisher How could a get the Nano Pads to control the PC3x? I Really need more controls. like start or stop arps or Trigger Chords.. any tips?

  • 6:37 The best voice sample i've hear. put yamaha and roland to shame.

  • hey i m confused

which company is better yamaha or kurzweil?

which keyboard-synth is better, motif, s90xs , tyros of yamaha or

     k2600xs of kurzweil?

    help dear

  • @birth1087

Depends on what your looking for, but for me its kurzweil, you could be learning this board for years thats how deep it is.

The motif is like your average board nothing really special but its arps, and guitar sounds thats about it.

Kurzweil is not a popular company but it is one of the most underrated, there's people still diving into their old k series boards, thats just shows you how deep their boards are.

  • @TheReasonableLogic could anyone give some opinion about the piano sounds on this board? Yamaha motif? or pc3x. which is better?

  • @TheReasonableLogic From What i know, pc3x is more advance than the K series. except for the sampling function. any opinion why kurzweil still wanna use the 10 year old pixel display?

  • @cvl85

I guess with kurzweil it's more about the sounds then the interface. I'd like to see a better display also but it doesn't really bother me, everything is neat and organized which is how a display should be. Yea kurzweil got great presets but if you use the board just as a rompler your not really using it to its potential. This board works on a technical level which how sound designers work. I think of the display as using a terminal or command promt to design sound.

  • @TheReasonableLogic Right.. i find it rather hard to use. especially in live situation. it's there any quick way to layer a piano, pad and voice. and have their individual volume control at the sliders.. FAST...without getting in to all those editing thingy. bcoz what my band plays is always spontaneous.

  • "is there a quick way to layer a piano, pad, and voice, and have individual volume control at the sliders? FAST...without getting into all those editing thingies?"

    Hi cvl85,

You can *one time* make a Setup with three Zones, each having a Slider dedicated to Volume (CC#7). Then Save it.

Now you can simply dial in different Programs into each Zone and you'll still have all the functions that you made the very first time.

You could be spontaneous all night using the same Setup and never Save.

  • @TheDanielFisher Nice. Never thought of that. Thnks for the Tips.

  • @TheReasonableLogic I doubt that Kurzweil instruments will ever feature a good interface. They have a small design team without the resources to develop a powerful user interface. Another decade has gone by and the company still is releasing instruments that make it feel like one is editing on an old 1980's DOS computer.

  • i want this baby so bad!!!!

  • Killer machine! Love it

  • See You Guys tomorrow Morning, after a trip to the Bank.

  • Yes! Great demo. Finally someone actually covers the Organ sounds. I've been skeptical since discovering Kurzweil doesn't seem to have organ audio samples on their site.

I'm definitely on board now. Thanks.

  • hi.... i need.. to know how do i do to send midis from pc to he keyboard..... do i need some software???......

more over i wanna know if this xD card ... is a simple type of card xD, or is it special???..... i have one of 1 gb of memory, can i use it????

  • no quarter is perfect!

  • is this your new fav synth danielfisher?

  • Hi Keyboardforum,

Yeah, back then I wasn't part of recording or posting the videos. Now that they're getting lots of responses I've been able to be more active in the process.

Search "fisher" & "sweetwater" in YouTube to see lots of newer, stereo demos.

  • @TheDanielFisher If we put pc3x vs roland fantom g vs motif xs what would you suggest?

  • Again... MONO MONO MONO.... Sigh....

Sweetwater... Please.. Learn how to make 720p HD Youtube movies with STEREO sound when you want to demonstrate a musical instrument...

Save as 1920 HD MP4 file and upload it. That's all you need to do.

  • @ stevenblum

Not me, thought the same thing as you ..

  • At 8:30 when he plunks some notes and then turns on the effects section. Apparently the effects section made him totally shred? Is anyone actually fooled by this?

  • Hi steveblum,

I guess I've fooled you into thinking that I faked it :-)

I created that patch for Kurzweil's PC3 factory presets along with 'Fisher's VAST B-3" and a few others in there.

The best way to prove it is to play the Demo sequence for that program, called Blues Harmonica". (I created the demo seq. for Kurzweil also.) If you play them side-by-side you'll see that they're similar but different enough to see that I am playing it live.

Write me and I'll play a song of your choice :-)

  • I am not accusing you of faking the demo - it is obvious you are playing it. But if you want to demo the difference in sound when you activate the effect, you should play the same thing before and after you activate it. I am saying you are making the effect sound more appealing by playing something way cooler after you activate it.

  • Hi steveblum,

Now I get what you mean. If you get a chance to try a PC3, go to "Blues Harmonica" then press EDIT and then EFFECT.

Now, when you hit the PLAY button you'll hear me jam without the KDFX effects. It really is dramatically different.

  • One of the best demos I've seen- with attention to song selections to show off the patches in their best representation.

    Thanks Dan!!

  • So the PC3 61 is same as this, only with 61 keys instead of the 88 in this? Sounds awesome!

  • I don't how about with this one but usually, all 88 key instruments are weighted keys, anything below that is non-weighted keys. One small detail that makes all the difference in how the keyboard sounds in the end. Just a note.

  • except some maudio/fatar 88 lightweight boards, and also Roland RS-8

  • For me appreciators and sequencers/drams are easy enough to get on a lap top, and for cheap too. I don't really need that stuff in my keyboard.

  • the problem is I HATE looking at people playing with a keyboard connected to a laptop...

but on the other side, looking at someone playing only the keyboard, and playing some amazing music with all kinds of effects and everything, is just amazing!

  • Although these are extremely good samples

  • I hate searching through tons of samples. I prefer something that is geared toward synthesis. This dosen't seem like it is.

  • Listening to this thing, it sounds perfect for Prog Rock. I mean, it's obviously useful for everything, but it sounds particularly perfect for prog.

  • Chumleh, I agree. The Hammond/Leslie sound is total killer. The entire sound engine is phenomenal. Still, it is not used as much as Korg or Yamaha. Don't know why. I love Kurzweil sounds so much better!

  • you say it has 16 arps at once? can you give me an example of that?

  • Motif, Oasys and Fantom sound good BUT they have too honied sound with many psychoacoustic FX. Kurz have NEUTRAL sound, which never tired :) Motifs come and go, and Kurz is always the case.

  • looks like a very good machine but i prefer using the motif xs. it has everything i need , and i barely use cheese synth sounds. so i don't need synth sounds , i use mostly acoustics, Xs does it very well.

  • Does this keyboard has arpegiators?

  • i mean, rythm box, or something like that, sry hate my english... :(

I am planning on buying PC3X, or a Motif XS, and i want to know if this is not only a machine without rythms...

  • yes

  • it has 16 simultaneous arpeggiators!

  • Look at 0:30

  • I use a PC1X. as my main controller. I agree on the sounds being dated, but that's exactly why I like it. No trendy crap with built in beats. Just solid classic sounds all very usable for me. Superb orchestral sound and EPs. Killer drum kits

Nice guitars and bass. The pianos are a bit compressed. This was done to keep the cost down, A little EQ and they're fine. Don't know if it's worth the extra 2k to upgrade.

  • Korg Oasys, Motif XS, Fantom Vsynth GT and Fantom G is better than any Kurzweil Keyboard. No offence. It's just my point of view because I've played all these synths.

  • yeah well wat kind of music do you make?

  • Kurzweil products are targeted primarily at career professionals with dynamic needs. In that context the complex features make a lot of sense. For example, the PC3 has a clock sync jack. Only people who routinely record on state of the art equipment would ever need that. V.A.S.T. programming may seem difficult but reveals itself to be utterly necessary in an environment where time, money and scheduling are critical and the track was due yesterday and you already spent the advance.

  • ps: the only thing that can be true (and the fantom can be superior on that) is that the presets are not intended for modern music and are "dated" like techno trance, but it is intended for rock, proggressive music, 80's, 70-s music, film music, etc., and it does one of the best job on what it is intended, and on the other hand and as I said, you can create and design your own personalized patches with VAST.

  • "fantom g has better sound character than the kurzweil"

What???, I tried both synths the same day in a store and the Fantom is a toy compared with the PC3, both presets and synthesis. I believe most of the people who say other famous board like korg or roland is superior is because they have not play a Kurzweil before. Of course this can be only a matter of taste, but it is my opinion.

  • I'm a performer, not a programmer, and the complexity of the PC3 scares me. But I'd consider it if the piano sounds are dramatically superior to those of the SP2. Are they? Are they noticeably better than the PC2? (I've had 3 SP76s and PC2 but never an SP2. Can you split internal sounds with an SP2? And for us jazz people, can you layer a ride cymbal to walking bass with an SP2?)

  • How about this:

The Kurzweil PC3 with the screen and sequencer of Fantom G as well as a sampler.

That would have been an amazing workstation!

  • fantom g has better sound character than the kurzweil: fantom g sounds very lush and dynamic.

kurzweil sounds very realistic but sounds very static...i.e. not fresh and the timbres for synthesizer music just doesn't appeal.

if you are a dream theater type guy or pianist/organist or orchestra composer, i would say the kurzweil...but for any kind of electronic music, fantom-g will kick butt of the kurzweil!

  • i can't even dare to say that kurzweil doesn't have incredible sounds, but looks so old. i mean they should have uprgraded that small screen to smth a little bigger. apart from that an incredible synth :D

  • I agree with you...Kurzweil has amazing sounds, especially for orchestral and synth stuff.

However, I just wished it had at least an audio input (even if not a full-blown sampler).

K2661 is great workstation, but it doesn't have VA synthesis...

  • Kurzweil sounds= amazing

    Screen interface= Terrible

  • truly. I have the k2661 never found the interface workable particularly since one has to go into the layers to program instead of tweaking knobs. This has more power and kdfx potential but I'm staying with the k2 for the sampling option and the adat out. But the pc3 has a software editor.. now if only they would make one for the k2 series I'd be grateful.

  • Kurzweil makes some nice gear.. but I agree that Kurz's sounds are starting to become a bit dated. VAST opens up a lot of doors for patch creation though. Still.., Kurz needs to update some sound sections. What I don't get is why in 2009 is Kurz still using that age old type display? Come on Kurz., for the price you sell your gear at you can at least give a better screen. There's a new 61 key version of this that sells for 2 grand at Sweetwater.

  • nord is shit.

  • I have PC2X, and the 3X has a lot more variation and stuff, but it seems better for studio use where as the 2X is great for live preformance. Kurzweil sounds are great, and the orchestra section is killer; however, the horns need to be upgraded..I think they sound crappy especially the reeds. I heard a soprano sax sound on a cheap $500 Yamaha keyboard at Best Buys that blew away the one on the Kurz.

  • "Didn't know that George Lucas played the keys? "

    LOL

  • "I agree, their sounds are super high quality but many are dated - especially the synth leads, which always should contain some

avant-garde sounds, or at least some modern ones. "

I have used VAST in my current k2661 and the thing is so great that you can create every avant garde lead or sound you have in mind, believe me. I believe the presets are just an start, and if they sound great, imagine what u can achieve with the entire machine.

  • Didn't know that George Lucas played the keys?

  • LOL! It looks like he picked up some weight as well.

  • this is a really great keyboard. Please kurzweil wait me untill 2010 to pay my debts!!

  • 5:40 - the lamb lies down on broadway!

  • 8:48 - Silent Sorrow in Empty Boats!!

  • @danilsquigger I flipped out too

  • is there a COMBI or PERFORMANCE MODE? i didnt hear too many 'stacks'.... i like big beefy multipatches...

  • there is a setup mode...

  • He's jammin on that thing lol

  • This keyboard sounds absolutely superb but the KB3 is an Epic Fail. This is the 2nd person I've seen play organ on the PC3 besides FalgorOne and it still sounds bad. It's so shrilly and messy, and the Leslie Emu or more like Vibrato is just rubbish. Go to google and search "KB3 sounds weird" and click on the first page result, it should say "Sonikmatter quick review of V1.2 KB3 and PC3" . Roll-or-Kari nails the KB3 dead on and I totally agree with him 100%.

  • pc3 rulez

  • This really brings out the best of the PC3x sounds, and I own it.

  • This is an AMAZING performance keyboard. Love it!!!

  • incredible instrument.

  • Kurzweil needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with some new/better sounds! Otherwise, this is an excellent product.

  • I agree, their sounds are super high quality but many are dated - especially the synth leads, which always should contain some avant-garde sounds, or at least some modern ones.

  • this kind of beast is not meant to be played with presets only :) this is a programmers dream and is meant to tweak your own sounds.
