One is actually not allowed to touch a monk, especially not to start digging in his robes. Thats why he gave the ignorant westerner a gentle tap and laughed.
he probably knows the trick being modest like dumb kid LOL I know it was in your other hand...I think the other guy got a kick out of it more than the monk like look I can trick this guy like hes 5 because hes old, dark skinned and from another country! Ignorance amazes me. Im not trying to be rude or anything but thats just the way I saw it but most people would probably see it as being funny so I will leave it at that.
It is out of respect to a Buddhist Monk that the Farang or the foreigner was trying to make a mockery out of the monk. Besides, laymen do not touch the saffaron robe of a monk to perform magic. Thai people are normally very friendly and the monks are innocent and they will condone this type of behavior.
@lumalive as the monks may know -with all their amazing wisdom- and something you don't is that accepting other cultures is key to having a strong consciousness... or something smart-sounding like that. The impulsiveness to check if I spelt "impulsivness" wrong the first time, even though It was actually the second time. and besides i don't give a half-ass grain of rice what a "saffaron robe" is. This buddhism looney-bin philosophy sounds more like squinty-eyed capitalism to me.
@quidnick - The impulsiveness is the behaviour marked by sudden action that is done without careful thought. that what exactly the magician did on the monk. But, I respect him worshipping the monk as a mark of respect at the end his trick. I do not care two flipping hamburgers about your other incomprehensible harangue.
lol monk cant believe it im srry but i kno dat trickand u hav a plastic thumb and u stik the cloth in it and put near ur mouth so u can put the fake thumb on the real on and then u put ur hand by the monks take the thumb off and hide ur fake to pull out the cloth
i'm not sure that constitutes irony. in any case, what better, more useful 'magic' is there to be had? i've been to thailand to visit a friend and we traveled to many monasteries and i never saw any magic. i've seen guys dry sheets with their body heat with incredible speed, but no magic.

A possibility... the irony is that Thai guru monks have much better and more useful magic.
