  • When I was learning bass, this was the gold standard for me to practice. Of course I never even approached their quality.

  • mm ;) beautiful

  • This is Bill's tune. He wrote it. Nice block chords. Scott works it very tightly with Bill. Scott breaks up the rhythm very well. They are slick as snot on a door knob.

  • 何時聴いても良い曲です。。

  • larry bunker looks SO badass from 00:18-00:21

  • Miles knew what he saw in Bill.

  • this is music at its purest & finest IMHO

  • Out of this world. . . . So tight. . . listening and playing of the highest order. Very rare to hear this level of artistry. . . Thanks whoever posted this.

  • I've heard this so many times and yet it still gives me goose-bumps.

  • i was born the day this was taped

  • love this tune

  • Scott LaFaro on bass?

  • @Mr1212dade no, scott died july 6, 1961 this was recorded in 1965

  • @Obelisk2290

You are right. The bassist is actually Chuck Israels.

Very nice recording, I did not know it thank you kenjames64 !

  • full 1 hour 10 minute BBC Show of this now on youTube

  • bit of trivia for you.....at the very start of the clip is it John LeMesurier from the british comedy Dads Army, sitting at the centre-front of the audience? Or just a look alike?

  • @monlevibe Yes! I thought exactly the same, the one playing Arthur Wilson! How funny

  • @hollygy

cd universe dot com has this on DVD for $12. Surprisingly, the video quality is inferior to this youtube upload! but the audio is the same. I'm guessing kenjames64 has an out of print DVD that was released using a higher quality master.

  • @Artstar I do.

  • Timeless! I am working on this tune now.

  • beautiful, beautiful drum set

  • sick

  • @Obelisk2290 look at him bopping!

  • Bill Evans trio: the best of the sixties

  • great tune by the master & played like one too

  • HOLY SHIT, THATS JOHN LE MESURIER IN THE AUDIENCE AT START!!! he's Wilson from dad's army in case you don't know

  • @drumsofdoomify John Le Mesurier was a big Bill Evans fan and picked Spring Is Here as one of his songs on Desert Island Discs in 1973

  • @lowebeck wow, that's a great factoid. hats off to you sir

  • @drumsofdoomify His other picks were Take The "A" Train - Duke Ellington and his Famous Orchestra. Setting Fire To A Policeman - Peter Sellers. Come Rain Or Come Shine - (From St.Loius Woman) Judy Garland. Easy Living - (Rob Burns clarinet) Alan Clare Trio. What`s New? - Annie Ross. After You, Who? - (from The Gay Divorce) Fred Astaire

  • Everything a piano trio should be, but few manage.

  • @jules0659 I might say "none."

  • @kenjames64 I might agree :-)

  • @kenjames64 Fair enough, but I think Oscar Peterson did a fantastic job with it.
