The solo saved the day for NSU, the notes before and after were hit and miss. especially the 1st. I call it even. NO clear winner.

NSU, 2nds and thirds were very bad in the intonation and tone departments. IMO, 03 and 04 were probably their weakest years for trumpet.

The Dizziacs tempos are too fast on pretty much every fanfare... The conductor mustve been a lil too excited to have that opportunity that most sections never get... Dizzies sound ok but would've sounded better with more moderate tempos...

@VagueTheory what he was saying had nothing to do with bands as much as what he heard, if that makes any sense at all. true there's culture in battles like that; the blowing, the screaming, etc but it aint no such thing as blowing, or screaming in tune. you can sit up there and let them section leaders and band directors lie to you, but it aint. tuning slides don't fix a nigga tryin to be louder than an air carrier. NSU is good but let's be realistic here. i mean there ARE physics behind this.

Both get an L on this one. HU...bad tone quality and a lot missed screams. Pretty good material.

NSU same problem. Bad tone quality and control issues. If you close your eyes and really listen you will a lot of "junk" and "trash" coming out of the horn. Not NSU's best by any means. However, aside from the warm-up tune their material was slightly better. A lot of missed screams as well.
