People talking about the movie going to commercial is just plain ridiclous.....they make these movies to MAKE MONEY. Every movie is released with hopes that it will turn a profit. Once the media machine and the word of mouth got out they knew they had something big, so they captlized on it. Nothing wrong with that, cause if you were part of the filmmaking youd be laughing to the bank too.

i hate how much i wanted to not enjoy this film, i do love it, but, through no fault of Danny Boyle, it became so commercial. I think there's something unnatural about how it became a huge blockbuster, Americans remaking the beautiful Indian songs to make them appeal to people who couldn't cope with a song that wasn't about sex (aka: Jai Ho). sadly though, it was an exceptional film.

I worked for the Prem Dan project in Mumbai, Kharghar and Reay Road slum school before this film came out and it changed my life. The film is just a snippet of life there and I am bitterly disappointed that the children in the film were underpaid despite everything the film is supposed to stand for. If you want to make a difference check out the Prem Dan Project and The Aquinas College India Project. These efforts are what make the difference, not a film that has not used its profits wisely.
