  • Verah niice methinks. Not a hendrix copy but obviously a Henddrix inspired style. It's way cool.

  • That was killer - you had your own things happening in there. (liked the geetar too)

  • Damn, how many great Fenders do you have? hahaha

  • awesome man, keep jamming. Excellent tone, Jimi would be proud.

  • The tone and sense of composition was phenomenal here. Truly inspiring as always!

  • it would be good without the FX

  • The sound is sooo psychedelic man, sick!

  • I just wanna say i think your tone is absolutely beautiful!

  • Thank you.

  • sounds good! minus the wifebeater and too much fx

  • Fuck all the keyboard warrior, wannabe guitar experts here at youtube.

You're fucking rocking it brother. Keep bring it my man!

  • I love your tone man. The guitar playing may be a bit choppy but yea it's a difficult song.. Why don't you re-record it? I'm sure you're better than 3 years ago :)

  • you should use that modulation pedal to cover star spangled banner or machine gun not this it just makes the song sound ugly other than that ur plying is pretty good

  • what a Mf nice job

  • get rid of that flanger, it sounds like you're underwater

  • haha agreed

  • If you turn off that thang it'll sound much better.

    Keep on playin bro.

  • swirlz around good widda hed fulla buddha

  • Ja Rule!

  • DAM ur really good

  • weird guy..:P

    Srry

  • great work! I really dig the effects and sound... nay-sayers are to close minded to appreciate a little variation on classics... to bad for them.

  • nice efect! sounds like old school uni vibe

  • Mixing "Red Hot Chili Peppers" / reggae? with Hendrix doesn't work for me. Its a ballad. Its R&B and Blues with a pychedelic drug inspired vibe. You interpretation (imho) is a detraction not an enhancement (if that is possible).

  • too choppy and too much Voodoovibe or rotovibe whatever it is, better suited to Hey baby land of the rising sun etc..

  • I keep getting flak about the sound of the Voodoo Vibe, but truth be told, I loved the sound, standing between my two Blues Junior amps, the notes swirling about my head, floating freely. Jimi hadn't access to this device while recording Axis, he may well have dug the sound, too. The guitar is clean from 3:07 on, maybe those of you who need *that* particular sound can simply listen to the end. I'm just saying, that's all....

  • how about you post a video of you doing it YOUR way, instead of criticizing. how bout that one? GOOD JOB sabtahi, i as well dig the swirling effect it gives off.

  • @LondonKumamoto you obviously have never done acid. much better feel to the music when your frying if it has a good amount of flanger. makes you feel incredible, and you can sit and listen to this song over and over for all 12 hours of the trip

  • @grantcanskate Actually I've done quite a bit of acid so dont make assumptions, have you even played a guitar?

  • @LondonKumamoto yeah i do play guitar. not really a fan of playing electric though just acoustic. idk why.

  • Oh yeah, and sing! lol

  • Wicked man, I like your style, very organic and I would remember if I hear you again.

    Nicely done buddy

  • heyy man loving the sound of that guitar its badass, what affect is that if you dont mind sharing

  • Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe.

    Thanks for the kind words!

  • I agree with the turn of the univibe, makes it sounds clunky and not funky. Nice and warm through a twin would be just what the doc ordered, but no... the fucking univibe keeps clunking away....what were you stoned...lol. Nice tune anyhow.

  • HEEEEEEEEEEY!!!

    Its WOLFMAN JACK!!!!

  • I love your vids. Thanks for that

  • Lovely, I can imagine jimi playing this live in a similar style later in his career 69' or 70' maybe when he started using the univibe.

dont think he played castles at the maui gig but if he did then maybe it would have sounded a little like this.

    I really enjoyed it. 5/5

  • Thanks, Mate!

  • sry but kimi is straight threw amp and smooth but edgey and you just dont have that kind of taste

  • hello, you are a great guitarist but the "hendrix method" is not easy to swalow.

you need a musical eare and that's not a thing you can buy. nice "finder"

  • JESUS

    turn the rotary off

  • nice job man..i hear teh hendrix soul coming out of the notes

  • try playing clean

  • Worthy cover my ass, you werent blind folded and handcuffed (joke, nice job)

  • Nice bro! Good ole Rotovibe!!!! Love your version.

  • FUCK YEAH THIS VERSION OWNS

  • i like it, i like it.

  • feelin' the groove bro...nice touch with the wah/

  • awsome

  • wow..that was actually extremely inspiring. thanks man

  • Thank *you* for the kind words, my Brother!

  • this is awesome!

  • perfect!

  • this is a really worthy cover

  • very cool

  • i think your years of experience really pay off and show brightly in this video.

    Great Job man. Peace

  • Absolutely amazing. Jimi's gotta be proud looking down and seeing people do his music so much justice.

  • Thanks for the kind words, they mean more to me than you ever know...

    Peace!

  • No prob man.

  • loving the heavy flange man thats the shit right there

  • "with the power of soul anything is possible"

  • yes! great.

  • i dig it

  • what's wrong with people? Hendrix probably never played this song the same way twice. Would you talk shit to him? He's not making a damn cake, this is music...

  • Dude very sweet playing style - you have mad skill. I could feel it through the screen! Keep up the good work - I think the tone gave it your unique signature and it's one of my favorite renditions. Peace!

  • I played it the way I felt at the moment. If you can't feel my emotions, that says more about you than it does about me. Hendrix used a multitude of sounds to express himself. Listen to One Rainy Wish, and tell me which tone kills *that* song, for the two guitar sounds are completely opposite. Try and open up your Heart, my Friend, you are so bitter for one so young...

    Peace

  • Nice thanks, technical song and more so if you sing it and play, 'with the power of soul anything is possible' *JH* You play well, and that is a rotovibe you use there also I see.

  • haha! your butchering the shit! clean up the guitar so we can hear the mess your making!

  • groovy , to bad am not on acid :(

  • very niicee !!!

  • Didnt really like this versions - mostly due to quality and effects I suppose. I could never do better though, so kudos.

  • I have a cleaner version I just put up, playing through a Twin Reverb... Thanks for the constructive criticism!

  • love it man awesome stuff

  • you have a really nice bod ;)

  • And *you* have superbly good taste! 8)

  • playin sounds great, maybe chill out on the overdrive, but overall, very nice man

    props

  • sounds good man! it's when you hear a version like this without vocals u realise how cool Hendrix was - his rhythm parts work as instrumentals.

  • I like it!!

  • nice played but turn the bloody univibe down

  • i dont like the effect but i think he can play. it doesnt look like hes trying to show off too much, hes just relaxing.

  • That was great. I loved how you made it your own. I'm trying to learn this song myself. One day I hope to play it like you!

  • you know... you play good but....work on the scenography dude... haha :)

  • That's why I play with my eyes closed! ;)

  • nice playing man, im a huge hendrix fan and guitarist. this is like one of the only hendrix songs i never learned to play. And i doubt he's using tabs guys, thats so NOT HENDRIX to use tabs, all ears.

  • I have an original Univibe that I picked up in the early 70s and your effect unit is about the closest I have heard to an actual Univibe. Love that Jimi! What year is the Strat? I have a cream colored 1970, but like a dumbass, I traded in a blue 65 to get it.

  • That was a '91 American which I traded for a Daphne Blue '65!

  • you left hands to tiht and not loose enough. sounds metal like in places. crap tone. too much univibe i agree.

sorry mate good guitarist but you cant play the song at all.

  • Wow...waaaaaaaaaay too much univibe on that. Tone back the swirl and you might have something, right now it is a mess of noise.

  • thanks for the comments! I agree when you say a song is a story you should tell I try to do that but I don't have your experience ...,yet ;) anyway I like your vidz and thanks for pointing that out!

  • You are most welcome, my Brother! I liken music to a journey, and it is always pleasant to have a fellow-traveler... I look forward to hearing more from you!

  • sounds like a uni-vibe

  • Actually it is a VoodooVibe, a Roger Mayer invention which all the others, including Dunlop, try to emulate, to varying success, IMO.

  • very nice sound if you dont mind me asking what amp were you using? keep the music alive man your doing a great job

  • I use two Fender Blues Junior amps, 18 watts of power, as stereo outs from my VoodooVibe... Very tasty when you stand between them, my Friend! Thanks for the kind words!

  • Good work brother man really dig that pedal effect!

  • Two words, friggin awesome!

    Such a beautiful song.

    I envy your playing skills.

  • What effect is that you're using?

  • The Voodoo Vibe, the latest generation of the original Leslie-sounding Univibe. Roger Mayer designs the best pedals in the industry, and I use them exclusively.

    Thanks for Listening!

    Grasshopper

  • crap sound & tone.. playing needs more feelings..

  • Hey Zoomer, While it's always lovely to hear other opinions, in this case I'd prefer to hear *you* play this piece, so that I may be enlightened by your Sensitivity and Skills on the electric guitar! While I'm waiting... Grasshopper

  • Fucking Ace man , i seriously jealous!!!!!!

  • Hey Grasshopper!

Can I request Room Full Of Mirrors please? Maybe the Feb 24 1969 version from the Albert Hall? [um the new rehearsal tape from the same date is great and played straight!]

    tia

    Mark j

  • Sure thing, Mark! Give us a couple weeks to get this up and running! 'Hopper

  • oh fantastic thanks

the rythum of it is so free and liberating

    Mj

  • hey man,,,whats the chances of you doing the attic thing with spanish casltle magic,,,,,i want to steal a look at your hand placement please,,,,,,,,,cya

  • Hey Bro! Thanks for the kind words! What I plan to do in the very near future is have close-up videos of *all* the Hendrix basics I have learned in the last 35 years... You can ask for a lesson, and I will provide it! No tabs, no notes, I have learned all the soundzzzz by ear. Not bragging, just the truth. Stay tuned, this is my dream, to bring his technique to future generations!

Please call me Grasshopper, all my friends do.

  • Hey Grasshopper,,thanks for the reply..im looking forward to that bru!! cheers

  • Well, I just stumbled onto this.... thinking hey, I wonder if my personal fav. Hendrix song is here. It looks like your ear does good things for you! Sadly, all my Strat's are fairly dismantled for now... I am missing my wah quite badly these days. LOL. I dispise 95% of tabs out there, so I appreciate what you are doing... although I'm missing plenty of key parts right now. I'll see what I can do to finish learning this song :)

    -Isaac

  • I'd start by piecing a Strat back together!!! ;)

Tabs will tell you the notes, Isaac, but feelings come from a deeper place. When I listen to Jimi I hear emotions, and that is what I try to portray when I play. Also, not to knock tabs or anything, but tonality is key when trying to play Jimi's music, and first you need to listen, listen, listen...

Thanks for listening, and Keep The Faith! Grasshopper

  • I couldn't agree with you more, Grasshopper :)

My primary guitar wont go back together until it has been refreted. I don't want to do it myself with a scalloped neck; and I'd hate to have all that costom work die in my hands... I can fix the electronics; but I can't stand playing with all the low spots in the frets. I think I finally found a place that is comfortable to get her back together... but its some distance away.

    cheers

    -Isaac

  • hey sabtahi,,now worries pal i found your cherokee gypsy posting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nice man nice...are you learning all that from tab or what??

  • hey sabtahi,,,you got any other hendrix covers,,,im new to this site so still checking it out

  • nice one man,,,,,nice

  • the effects sound great, man..

  • I appreciate both Mark's and your response... It's a hard call to know when to kick off the effects, but all they are good for is adding to the sonic palette of the music.

The more varied the palette, the greater the possibilities! Hopefully, the Spirit of Jimi's music still shines through! Thanks for the kind words, both of you!

  • this is really good! freaky effects while still respecting the notes. I dig it and I'm a tuff sell ;-)

    Mark j

  • You should cut off the effects.

Selecting the "out-of-phase" pickups is the way go for this song.

Great rendition, other than those minor gripes.

  • Thanks for the kind words... I *do* kick off the Voodoo Vibe at the last coda, as you can hear, with the Strat in the between-pickup position for the last few notes. I am a slave to the Tone! Grasshopper Play and Pray!
