Ok! 0.33 Can you not laugh! Geek moment with those giant glasses..thats the only thing about glasses i like..you can be geeky in the real way. Sorry..i'm ok now. lol
star trek isnt the number one show any more doctor who is now according to SFX magazine it is also been called the most successfull sci fi show in history by the magazine and is in the guiness world book of records for the longest running and the most successfull sci fi programme in the world. doctor who has outlived all other sci fi shows and will continue to do so becuase the series comprises of all kinds of generes sci fi,horror, fantasy, comedy, romance, and adventure.
I read the reason why the show declined was bad scheduling, And Michael Grade had it in for members of the cast and crew.
My opinion the stories were good. But there weren't enough good ones per year.
I think taking a show off the successful track it's on isb very dangerous. Esp when the changes are extreme. Just long enough for old audience to forget about the show.
The makers of this programme seem to show Doctor Who more of a parody of a Sci-Fi then anything else :/ such as suggesting the Doctor has sex with his companions in some sorta "Austin Powers" room in the TARDIS...and also was there much of a point mentioning the TV movie just to call it "not great"? pretty worthless really
I can't believe Dr. Who isn't number 1. There are plenty of other SciFi shows I love but none of them have the amount of depth, creativity and escapism that Dr. Who provides. Being able to go ANYWHERE in time and space and become ANYONE is pretty hard to beat.
Look at statistics... Dr Who has been running since the 60's, Star Trek had 79 episodes of the original series. I love both but for me Dr who is more entertaining
He said we didn't know he was from Gallifrey for three years. Actually, we didn't know he was a Time Lord for six years (The War Games, 1969) and we didn't know his home planet was called Gallifrey for ten years (The Time Warrior, 1973). I think JNT got a bit mixed up there.
"We didn't know for three years that he came from a planet called Gallifrey" is what he said. All I'm saying is that he was mistaken. We didn't know for ten years that he came from a planet called Gallifrey.
@HypnoToad72 boggles the mind... i bet the insipid Star Trek went to number one. utterly impossible to understand... the only important scifi show is Doctor Who. The only show that has the scope and variety that this does.
star trek is terrible. doctor who is brilliant in every way. though i don't think there is a best sci-fi,cos it's all a matter of opinion. but personally i think doctor who is the best
Star trek is not terrible it's just a different show from what doctor who is. I don't get why people have to comparsions between the two. Doctor who is about monsters and adventures and star trek is about the human condition and exploring new possibilities.
I wasn't saying my opinion (I equally love Doctor Who) I was just saying what was on the poll. I love both Doctor Who AND Star Trek, but they both lack different things. Doctor Who lacked the budget it required and the stories in the 80s, and Star Trek lacked monsters and it failed to capture my imagination (I got into Doctor Who first so thats ONE (I have many) of the reasons why I love Doctor Who), also Star Trek; Enterprise was crap.

"The Happiness Patrol" was brilliant! It was an intentionally camp allegory of Thatcher-era Britain set in a 2000 A.D. style setting. The new series did this right in the episode "Gridlock", but you have to give "Patrol" a few points for trying. The McCoy years were really good, even if the ideas and stories sometimes overshot the budget.
I hate it when everytime they symbolise the down fall of Doctor Who they always pick on the Happiness Patrol. WHY?! They were just trying to be diffrent (What's the crime in that). I actually liked the Kandy Man. If Doctor Who was purfect all the time then it would be boring.
Is it just me, or do they always show a clip of "The Happiness Patrol" when adressing the downfall of Dr Who in documentaries. Having seen that story, I can see there is a very good reason for that...
Well you are not going to get people to agree DW vs ST.
But I will point out that Star Trek did deal with more social and political issues.
And ST gets the nod because of the terrible work done by JNT and Russell Davies
MagicKirin 3 weeks ago
@MagicKirin Bollocks. The JNT years are only bad through reputation, not by the actual merits of his era - which were fantastic.
Same goes for the RTD era.
zufgh 2 weeks ago
@zufgh
First I saw the JNT era when it happened so before there was web fandom i made my evaluation.
Inferior Doctors, terrible companions except for Adric, Nyssa and Ace and far to much relliance on popular villians
Davies even weaker companions including Donna the Cow a loser who should have never been put on the TARDIS
MagicKirin 2 weeks ago
@MagicKirin Well I don't agree but I respect your opinion.
