Hey what state do you live in. i've been doing research, but can't find for sure what states allow fennecs to be kept as pets. so i'm asking a bunch of people who own them. i really want to get one when i move out on my own.

@SillyLitleGirl im not sure the steps for WA but i live in CA which has the strictest laws regarding exotic animals due to the agriculture...but i plan on getting my license after learning from a fennec fox/ hedgehog breeder that you can acquire a permit if you are adopting a animal for educational, breeding, and or sheltering of an exotic pet. but they do a series of check ups on the animal, the living conditions and if you have experience with these types of species prior to adoption etc.

theres alot of info that i cant fit into the text box lol but you have to do your own research for your local laws and how to acquire a license through the FDA or Fish and game web sites- idk for WA but you might just have to fill out an application and have an inspector visit your home...but remember these are exotic animals and arent the best thing to buy on impulse due to cuteness haha because they are a lot of work and require alot of attention so do some research 1st(hope this helps you :)

@WhyNotME67 Ah, cool! I'm from CA, their rules are super strict because of the unique ecosystem that exists there. Same with WA I assume, since it has temperate rainforest, which is also a rare type of biome. I'd never buy on impulse - my mom had a pet skunk when I was a child, and I loved Petunia as much as I love my cats today. :) My boyfriend and I are trying to have one again.

@SillyLitleGirl Thats awesome!...but ya i think the laws are going to make it extremely hard for me to get a permit since i dont have experience with Foxes...but thats probably for the best because im going to college and there is no way i can give the animals the attention they deserve with my sched. so it would be selfish for me to get one now but i hopefully with get my license in the future and by then i should have some experience with exotic animals by helping out at the SFZ on summers(:

@andrewmccarney the savannah is, in fact, partialy wild/feral, due to its breeding. there are different degrees of how wild they are (as noted by the uploader's "F2 savannah" description, which means her savannah has a serval grandparent and an F1 female savannah mother) F1's are 75-50% wild, depending on the breeding, and an F2 is 25-37% wild.
