  • Great video!

  • Thanks for sharing :)

  • If they're were so amazing, how come no one has ever heard of them?

  • The name of the building was Riverplace.

  • To be fair, not everyone had acces to the Internet like we do now. So many were ignorant on the jargon. Hell, having an email made you a nerd.

  • WXYC was the first.

  • omg.... Performa 575's!!!! THOSE were the original iMacs!!!

  • I was a few months old.

  • Lol @ 1:30

"streaming is the ability to send live audio through phone lines into computers..."

WOW! Using telephones to broadcast... sound?? THAT'S CRAZY I TELL YOU! CRAZY!!

I love how some people actually used to think that sending audio down a freakin' phone line wouldn't work. DUH! That's what phones have always been for, retards!

We've come a long way since then!

  • NetRadio is no longer "On the air" :(

  • "Some have compared what happened here to the Wrights brothers first flight" LOL

They should have mention theory of relativity and invention of the wheel :-D

  • It's amazing how far technology has progressed in such a short space of time. Compare what we have now, to what we had back then, just little over 10 years ago. Imagine where we'll be in another 10 years time.

The possiblities my friends, are endless.

  • but internet is older than that!! internet was made 100 yrs ago by nikola tesla , his tower/router was called the wardenclyffe tower it would give wireless internet and cellphones through the earth plus wireless energy! he said it would send voice, words, images, and moving images(video) . i put up information of teslas first internet 100 yrs ago if your interested

  • actualy faster than you might exptect the power of computer technowlogy doubles every 5 years.

  • A SGI merely for that? Wow.

  • That pause after the guy signs off is another characteristic of the early days of streaming media.

"over 40 million people... already have access to the internet." lol

  • Where was NetRadio offices in the video? The outside looks kinda like Designer's Guild commons.

  • It was in downtown Minneapolis near the river but we can't remember the name of the building.

  • Thanks for your reply. That's understandable, what was inside the offices was definitely the focus. Creative Internet Solutions were the largest tenants of Designer's Guild back then, where Allaire started by renting two desks in one of their back offices.

  • That is great. I love the comment about the huge number of web sites out there...110,000. Hmm, I think I have seen that many just today.

    Good stuff.

  • Fantastic, Scott... I love flashback stuff like this.

  • A great look at a technology that we use every day. Imaging YouTube on 14.4k modems!

  • The word "Imaging" should read "Imagine" in the second sentence above. My bad. Now back to the program...
