Hey kid, you're meant to lather up using your brush with SHAVING CREAM or SHAVING SOAP and swirl the brush around on either in a bowl or your face, or even your hand. And ditch that shitty razor and get a good double-edge razor and shave using 2 to 3 passes. Although mantic59 knows the most about shaving, robbDV has the best videos!
Whilst I applaud the use of the brush, the canned crap he's using on it makes it fairly pointless. As a shaving instructional though, this is not a great example. Yaa boo sucks to modern multiblades and canned goop; let's bring back safety and open razors, good creams and soaps applied with badger brushes, and actually enjoy the experience- we spend months of our lives shaving, might as well be a pleasure! Vive la shaving revolucion!

Why would I not go against the grain when shaving? Its the only way I get a closer shave... If I with the grain's direction my Triple or Quadro blade razor doesn't cut clean and I can still see the small hair follicles the the razor didn't cut... Is there a better way for my messed up beard hair growth type?

The first time I used a badger brush and (real) shaving cream, my lather was better-looking... As KreamKat said, I wouldn't use this method each day, even with a cartridge razor (and even less with a DE razor).

Wow. So very wrong. I'd rename the video 'Adequate Shave,' if I were being generous. I won't get into the lathering, since you're using it out of a tube, but the brush application hurts me. If you were using it to raise the hairs and exfoliate, you'd be massaging more firmly, in a circular motion - this also gives a smoother lather. Second, dragging the razor down your face is fine, but generally an upward stroke on the neck is more appropriate. Oh, and get a decent razor.

I use a double-edge/safety razor now, but I used to use a similar razor to this guy. Even then, I'd shave my face and neck separately, following grain down on my cheeks and chin, then upward on my neck. I wouldn't press down on the blade, either. But hey, if this way works for him...

the brush is to exfoliate the skin so rubbing it up and down wont do it. CIRCULAR MOTIONS! You've not built a correct lather either, looks too dry. Some good tips though, like leaving chin til last and patting the face dry. Try a safety razor and you'll get much less irritation.
You should not be telling anyone how to shave. Every single step of yours was wrong. Circular motions with the brush. Shorter strokes with the razor. Hot water to start. cold to finish. Lordy you are a mess to watch.
yeah how bout that three minute lather up....ive been shaving since 16 and um never use a brush to lather....i start with hot water on a wash cloth press my face with it, lather with a dime size gel cream, and i also shave against the grain,with no burn or ingrown hairs,,,after the shave i once again dab my face with a hot towle and dry it off, then moisterize,,,,i only use shick slim twin razors.gillet shave gel,and nivia moiserizer for sensitive skin, great shave every time,
Don't use the brush. That takes too long, and you're supposed to put the cream in your hands in rub your face in a upward circular motion. Are you sure you didn't cut yourself? 3:48 and 3:49 look like a cut.
Cool thing about the internet--everyone's an expert, whether or not there's any consensus, science, or corroborative evidence to support opinion-based claims of fact. Granted, everyone's experience for the best shave is different and personal. However, there is a profession and entire industry surrounding men's shaving that has been around for hundreds of years. 8 years of trying to find the best method for hacking away at the face does not constitute authority on this subject.

The brush doesn't remove dead skin when you're using it like this. You have to massage the face firmly with a circular motion for the proper use. This guy is just dabbing it on like a paint brush.
Pretty good, however when lathering your skin, (spreading the cream over your face) it is more affective if you move your brush in a circular motion rather than up and down. xD
When i was in England there was one thing that really made me angry: two separate taps in the bathroom - one for hot water and one for cold one. It's very impractical. You can't mix cold water with hot one to get desired temperature. Hot tap outputs very hot water and i burned my hands several times. Cold tap usually gives water cold as ice.

The person on the video hasn't shaved for several days and he barely has any hair-growth in large areas of his face.

The perfect shave? You cut yourself while shaving your chin and you have no idea how to apply the lather. Whoever was your teacher didn't do a very good job or didn't know much himself. You have to brush your face quite hard so that you actually remove the dead skin and lift the hair and you have to shave using short strokes not full face-to-neck strokes. I'm surprised you even posted this... (This is constructive criticism I'm not "hating").

I always understood keeping your beard trimmed down. But I never understood why men shave. It's nature. Men, we have facial hair. I see it like this. I'm a grown man, why would I want to walk around with a bare face looking like an overgrown 11 year old boy.

Why look like an 11 year old boy when you can grow a nice beard and look like a transient, homeless, unemployed loser... Why cut any of your hair? Just trim it, and run around looking like a roadie for Metallica. It's not necessary to wear clothes either. Just go around naked. Eventually you're just going to have to realize that people have certain customs - and have had them for thousands of years. Shaving and clothes have been around for a long time.

Wow. So very wrong. I'd rename the video 'Adequate Shave,' if I were being generous. I won't get into the lathering, since you're using it out of a tube, but the brush application hurts me. If you were using it to raise the hairs and exfoliate, you'd be massaging more firmly, in a circular motion - this also gives a smoother lather. Second, dragging the razor down your face is fine, but generally an upward stroke on the neck is more appropriate. Oh, and get a decent razor.

I use a double-edge/safety razor now, but I used to use a similar razor to this guy. Even then, I'd shave my face and neck separately, following grain down on my cheeks and chin, then upward on my neck. I wouldn't press down on the blade, either. But hey, if this way works for him...

It works for him because he's got a face like a baby's arse to begin with. With a Mach3 there is no way I can shave against the grain on the neck, once a week maybe, but NEVER 2 days in a row. More to the point, what is he doing wearing a turtleneck on a 1st date??? He must get plenty...NOT. He says not to go against the grain the very second before he DOES.lol

The brush technique used in this video is shocking. Just awful. The lather should be built up in a separate bowl and applied in a circular motion.
Also FAR FAR FAR too much pressure is being applied with the razor. This is a sure fire way to get cuts and burn.
Please ignore this vid. Shaving like this is a shire fire way to get skin rash, cuts and burn.

the brush is to exfoliate the skin so rubbing it up and down wont do it. CIRCULAR MOTIONS! You've not built a correct lather either, looks too dry. Some good tips though, like leaving chin til last and patting the face dry. Try a safety razor and you'll get much less irritation.

yeah how bout that three minute lather up....ive been shaving since 16 and um never use a brush to lather....i start with hot water on a wash cloth press my face with it, lather with a dime size gel cream, and i also shave against the grain,with no burn or ingrown hairs,,,after the shave i once again dab my face with a hot towle and dry it off, then moisterize,,,,i only use shick slim twin razors.gillet shave gel,and nivia moiserizer for sensitive skin, great shave every time,

Don't use the brush. That takes too long, and you're supposed to put the cream in your hands in rub your face in a upward circular motion. Are you sure you didn't cut yourself? 3:48 and 3:49 look like a cut.

Cool thing about the internet--everyone's an expert, whether or not there's any consensus, science, or corroborative evidence to support opinion-based claims of fact. Granted, everyone's experience for the best shave is different and personal. However, there is a profession and entire industry surrounding men's shaving that has been around for hundreds of years. 8 years of trying to find the best method for hacking away at the face does not constitute authority on this subject.

The brush doesn't remove dead skin when you're using it like this. You have to massage the face firmly with a circular motion for the proper use. This guy is just dabbing it on like a paint brush.

Pretty good, however when lathering your skin, (spreading the cream over your face) it is more affective if you move your brush in a circular motion rather than up and down. xD

When i was in England there was one thing that really made me angry: two separate taps in the bathroom - one for hot water and one for cold one. It's very impractical. You can't mix cold water with hot one to get desired temperature. Hot tap outputs very hot water and i burned my hands several times. Cold tap usually gives water cold as ice.
