  • Buddhism teaches us to be fully engaged in the moment... very similar effect.

  • Many thanks, professor. Aside from watching your new videos I frequently delve into your archive and I find a lot of it very beautiful and deeply inspiring. One remark about Krishnamurti: he also recommended “inaction” when there’s no clarity of mind (which I personally find a very useful guideline. :-) ) Kind regards from Belgium.

  • I Loooooooved that!

  • rigt on man

  • Finally, one of your talks that I fully understand ;) Thanks

  • I suffered as a smoker. I constantly applied time (thought) to it. It wasnt until there was immediate insight that the problem dissolved, no more cigs! How is this possible? Smoke for 15, never able to quit, then in a moment of insight, never smoking again? Is it because the seeing is the doing? The insight is the action! Observation takes care, love, attention. I never had that in 15 years; I condemned, I justified, I escaped. When I am interested in the problem enough to observe, it is solved.

  • "Stop thinking about it and just start acting" is a movement in time, right? You have an idea, which acts. You said "problems only exist in time." Is this true? I mean the snake was in fact a problem, it did exist. It is attempts at a solution, based on thought (time) that obscures the problem. So insight, via attention, that dishes need to be clean IS action. It is suffering that only exists in time, not problems. Problems, life challenges, always exist. Escape from them causes suffering.

  • Commentaries on living: first series, from the notebooks of J. Krishnamurti

the section / chapter entitled: time (toward the end of the book)

Is this what you were looking for?

    good stuff

  • Don't procrastinate. Got it.

  • Hi i was so touch by Krishnamurti but at the same time i feel weir with all what was aaround him, all this new age, nonduality movements.... and im not also sure if K. is well consider in academia, by scienctifis, or as a philoshopher...

  • @jruizdemena It is unfair and unjust to involve him with such movements.

  • First and Last freedom:

    section Time-Sorrow-Death

  • Nice video. Very good intro to "spirituality". If only people implemented what you are saying, the world will be a better place.

  • @annisha1975 so why don't YOU do something about it?

    LOL

    X D

  • Procrastination is one of hells we've created. Its like a fucked up that keeps repeating a tune over and over again.

  • (cont.) I am also painting myself as the victim of my decision or of supposedly overpowering desires. I tell myself and others that I "have the problem" like I might "have a cold" so I'm absolved of responsibility for inaction or I disown/disassociate myself from the choice I'm presently making. Given that I've alreadydecided not to do the dishes, I can only have the problem as a consequence of implementing that decision, which problems do I want is the question.

  • When we tell ourselves, "I really should do this work" and yet do no act, I feel there is a hidden "but" in that statement left. "I really should do my work, BUT..." and why would I tell myself I "really" need should do something? It's because in some sense I'm already deciding or have decided to do otherwise than the thing I'm telling myself I "really" should do. I'm not actually deliberating here, I'm just seeking confirmation of the decision I'm leaning towards or have already made.

  • Heidegger: "To dwell is to garden"

  • Without thoughts, no time for problems, I like that!

However, thoughts are never instantaneous. They are reflections and as such, impede our ability to be in the moment and to act with the flow of extant energy.

Thoughts are related to time subjectively. We appreciate by reflection and that totally destroys our ability to act.

If you wait to think before acting, to use your example, you are snake-bit. ;-)

Man is subjected to and subjugated by his observance of time and it's flow.

    Timeout!

  • good vid, short simple and obvious. so what if you define problem and thought?

  • some problems you cant

  • Should we think/talk about these?

  • yes if they exist. you cant help it

  • Krishnamurti's concept of Freedom from the Known, really means Freedom from the Left Brain; The Left Brain World is The Matrix; check out Jill bolte Taylor's My Stroke of Insight

  • @CammieSpectrum yes, good comment. why the hell aren't these fuckers replying to your comment?

not even a thumbs up lol

bbtw, to prof anton: good vid, moral, if u accelerate you Make (a) Good Time.

    Telling the Time!

  • @natmanprime sadly, I don't think most anyone has realised how society is heavily biased to left brain stereotypes, even IQ Tests. but how could they. I think

the promoters of this sick society based on pride in having more than others & pride in being of higher rank than others, don't realize what they are destroying.. pride in being able is the type of pride that has seemed to vanish. for it is easier to get the symbols of accomplishment, than accomplishing. academia is the worst at this. :)

  • @CammieSpectrum yes, especially if all we actually need to do is find space and u can gain al the secrets of the universe!! yes thats right i said everything!

just, as alan watts said, don't be attached, too much, don't be detached at ALL, take the middle way, accept everything mindfully, including guilt+hurt, stay the course hey presto!

no more theories u start knowing things

owning is a substitute for knowing.

    that is my retort

    : )

  • Good stuff.very good channel

  • thnks

  • yup - somewhat reluctantly I wholeheartedly agree,, unfortunately this means I have numerous problems to fix that have nothing to do with putting it off by wasting time on the net,,oh well! This seems very relevant to stoic theory to, thanks man :)
