  • Now you can make a new video with The Hobbit movies when they come out =D

  • @BellethielDaugon 1 This is just a cover vwersion of a 20-something year old song from a British Christmas special called *The Snowman.*

  • I always think of fantasy when I hear Nightwish. :3 I love thier music, they don't sing about partying, drinking, drugs, or sex.... it's refreshing. They create stories, and gosh.... the music is so beautiful. Oh, and I freaking love The Lord of the Rings.

  • Let's not forget the original version from The Snowman. Covers are cool and all, but credit should always be given where due.

  • By the time of recording this song Nighwish had Tarja Turunen as their vocalist. Harmfully enough the leader - songwriter of the band Tuomas Holopainen decided to let Tarja go as a result to his childish and jealous reaction towards Tarja's boyfriend. The band has never since been true Nightwish - they haven't been able to find proper replacement for Tarja. Jealousy is a curious thing, mr Holopainen! You must be sad!

  • im glad to see that im not the only one who thinks of fantasy stuff when i listen to this song

  • I always get shivers when i watch and listen to this, especially starting from 3:30...music and video in perfect sync!

  • My ears just came, this song is that good.

  • Just letting you know... Some loser stole this video and claimed it as their own...

  • Let me just float on off into dreamland!!!

  • Definitely one of the best LOTR videos I have ever seen!!!!

    xXx

  • @Emmerlii Thanx for your comment, glad you liked it!!!!!

  • @botoxdookie what this coming from someone who cant spell original correctly

  • @1592ultimaweapon Meh, I digress. I'm not going to be like so many other Youtubers that like to play games and act macho. soooo I spelled a word wrong. Sue me. At least I still have a better taste in music than you do :)....goodnight youtube :)

  • @botoxdookie im sorry but im not going to get into an argument with someone who doesnt like nightwish i have better things to do

  • @1592ultimaweapon -comes back-....I'm sorry.....I don't recall saying I disliked nightwish...*looks at comments*...nope....nope I didnt say that....

  • @1592ultimaweapon so your saying that you have a better tqaste in muic than me but we both like nightwish. im confused how is your taste better. it is the same

  • My compliments to You Eraisuithiel..

this is one of the best matched videos I have ever seen here in Youtube.

Excellent timing, pertinence of the images, speed is always in tune with the sound, intensity and perfectly synchronized.

    Excellent..

Keep on with this good work..

  • whats the name of the song played at the end for like 2 seconds?

  • This is probably the most perfectly timed, positioned and visually apealing piece I've seen on here so far. Magnificent, Bravo!

  • awesome! just amazing! The song rocks! the vid rocks! i wish I had your skill!

  • best song&best movie

  • This is very beautiful... Tears in my eyes... Thank you!

  • hyvin oot saanut mätsättyä koko paketin - sopii mainiosti musan kanssa

  • 3:48 <3

  • I think I'm gonna watch LOTR again

  • @WarpRulez

There's more Finnish influence on LOTR than just the elven language. Most notably the Finnish epic "Kalevala" inspired Tolkien. There are tons of similarities. For example, Turin Turambar's story (in Silmarillion) was taken pretty much straight from Kalevala. If you read Kalevala, you'll understand.

  • @taffard I really wish I had a copy of the Kalevala.

  • WOOOW!:D

  • The song is from the movie Snowman date 1982.

  • "Tell me what you think"

Ok, let me tell you what I think!

This is one of the best music videos I have ever seen on youtube damit. I'm not gonna mention the movie, because it's a treasure like non other, but the music is something new for me, so epic! And by mixing those two, you made this totally awesome man.

You did a fine job on this, I really ejoyed watching this. Thank you.

    Long live LotR !

  • its not from nightwish. its from "the snowman" a xmas cartoon i watched when i was little.

  • @ryan555666777

    صحيت

  • @ryan555666777 This is a cover of the song by Nightwish, the original is actually by Celtic Woman.

  • @SoloDomoProductions the original was from the film "The Snowman", which it was written for.

  • @SoloDomoProductions Celtic Woman, did not sing the original. The original air of the song was 1982.

  • amazing :)

  • Lord of the Rings --> EPIC <-- Nightwish

  • wundervoll dieses Lied ist so toll egal ob ich voller glück bin oder traurig es passt zu jeder lage ich lieb das lied in voller lautstärke mit vollem Tempo auf der Autobahn! geiles feeling!

  • Great !!! Thanks !!! XD

  • LOTR has great scenery in it! Im moving to the shire and listening to night wish! lol

  • Beautiful!

    Tarja is the BEST !!!!!:-)))

  • outstanding.....hell of a job my friend!!!

  • AMAZING! I'm wordless! :D

  • Tarja ist einfach die BESTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love LOTR and i love this song, but i dont like this version of it at ALL. i like the one by chloe agnew. but thats just me. LOTR ROCKS!!!

  • @fr3ewritergurl but that version would be to light for LOTR

  • @fr3ewritergurl that version is ...airier... but much to light for LOTR

  • @rophon well I dont think this song is good for LOTR anyways. maybe the song memories by within temptation? idk. but definantly not this song. this song is more about love and stuff. LOTR wasn't, and even when it did have love in it, it wasn't the centerpiece of the whole movie, you know? but this is just me :P good song though xD

  • @fr3ewritergurl Well technically it isn't about love...it's about a boy and his snowman flying to the North Pole.

  • I'm old... but that was pretty cool... rock on...

  • it feels like i have heard this song somewhere but i have no idea.

  • I love The Snowman!

  • genial!

  • Un pokito de rollo epico con la gran musa TARJA.

Y es que los orkos hicieron mucho mal.

  • wahrlich meisterhaft!!!

  • the hardstyle version rox ur sox!

  • I love this song! it`s so high and divine

  • absolutely stunning. i was moved almost to tears, and that ain't no easy thing to do. perfect. epic.

... words fail me xD you're awesome.

  • omg i love that part from 1:33

    Children gaze,

    open-mouthed

    taken byyyyyy

    Surpriseee :}}

    EPIC VOICE

  • Agree with you... just the perfect combination.

    Congratz.

  • Awesome combination; beautiful song, watching it makes just make me want to rewatch LOTR again (which I may later =))

  • @Vyzard I'd want to reread the books too.

  • afierwmeno sth swthria pou zw mazi ths mageutikes stigmes kai ta3ideuw stis pio omorfes ais8hseis, eikones, empeiries!!!

  • Wonderful song! These clips match this so well too! :3 Great job!

  • simply amazing!

    LOTR<3

  • This version must be off the CD cuz I don't detect any vox irregularities as I've caught on many of the other versions that I've heard. This version is absolutely INCREDIBLE! Nothing against Tarja, but studio versions, over live performances, are hard to beat. Rock on....

  • This is the first video with a Nightwish song in it that I have seen and it made me love Nightwish. Tnanks for this video!

  • Thank you for the amazing video :)

  • Excellent!

  • Anybody besides me notice that Pete Jackson's visualization of The Watcher in the Water looks a bit like Cthulhu?

  • I like the Celtic Women version, but I also like this version. I don't see anything wrong with diversity.

Try to respect the work. It's ok you don't like but do you have to be rude.....****rolls eyes***

  • Its pretty cool, but i still prefer the snowman one! ^_^

  • I love this =) I like watch this in my Christmas holidays :')

  • in my opinion the video is good but there are too much changes of the scene. It's a bit flickering! :(

  • LOTR is based largely on finnish mythology and nightwish is a finnish band so they already suit.

  • @xxxrrrxxxrrr I thought Tolkien was working with a mix of English, German and Welsh mythology.

  • Probably there was a lot from these as well.

  • OK.

  • what i know is that for creating the elven language, tolkien found his inspiration in finnish.

  • However, the composer, tuomas, is a fan of lord of the rings. both the band and lotr shall suit each other.

  • @ciracris tumoas Did NOT create this song it¨s older than nightwish.

WAs used in early 80's in ashort movie called the snow man created by david bowie(i think or atleast narredted by him)think its older than that too..

  • i do know. i don;'t understand how you reached the conclusion that i didn't know this fact.

i was talking in general. the official song writter in nightwish is tuomas, as you know.

    thank you.

  • I'm not familiar with Finnish mythology. Is it comparable to Norse and Scandinavian mythology? I remember that Tolkien was a professor of Anglo-Saxon literature and that he dedicated his works as a gift to England. The Kingdom of Rohan is said to have been based on the Anglo Saxons, but I'm curious as to the Finnish element. Not that I doubt it, of course. I'm simply curious.

  • @Wibblywoo12345 I donlt know but that's entirely possible.

  • @Wibblywoo12345 From what I've researched and remember (it's late) Elvish was based on the Finnish language. And I'm pretty sure that the runes were based on either Norse or one of the Scandinavian languages. Also Ganalf means Wand Elf

  • @xxxrrrxxxrrr Finnish as well as Norse.

  • @xxxrrrxxxrrr Please elaborate, LoTR is based on Finnish mythology? How?

  • @xxxrrrxxxrrr Well, Nordic mythology in general. Plus he was very fluent in Finnish and knew Finnish mythology fairly well.

  • @xxxrrrxxxrrr I think you are confusing the fact that Tolkien based the Elvish language Quenya partially on Finnish. The mythology is not related to anything Finnish in particular.

  • @xxxrrrxxxrrr

  • This is far too fast, and no matter how epic they have tried to do this one, its nothing compared to the original.

  • @Irhvin93 Pardon me. But I think you completely missed the point of the song. A cover song is not tech. supposed to be compared to the original nor is it suppose to upstage it either. The idea is to reinvent the song in a new and different direction. And isn't that what Nightwish did?

  • i really enjoyed this....and tarja's voice was amazing ib this song...what a powerful remake of the original.

  • Originally, this song was from "the Snowman". XD just so you know.

  • @sparky577 The quote is actually "All you have to decide is what to do with the time that's given to you". I just listened to if a few times and worked it out.

  • That was so Awesome!

  • a great combination!!!!

  • My family watches "The Snowman" every winter and this is one of the songs. It's a perfect song in almost every way and this video goes really well with the song. Very nice.

  • Legolas is awesome. He is so cute! My favorite character

  • Can anyone make out the entire quote at 3:20? I can't understand the first half... Only "its what you do with the time thats given to you."...

Very moving video, thanks again to the creators of this.

  • @sparky577 it´s "all that matters is what you do with the time that´s given to you"

  • you're right, aled jones is genius, but nightwish made a wonderful piece of music either! if you don't like metal just don't listen to it, I actually prefer nightwish for it's supreme instrumental versions. THIS IS NOT TRIPE. if you wanna know what tripe is just listen to Madonna, Shakira or LadyGaga if you're still not dead then.

  • I don't really like his voice either but the vidoe is good. :D

  • Absolutely pure genius, talk about image to music, this takes top marks

  • i got goosebumps when the elctric guitar started i was like what!? AWSOME!!!!!!! 5/5 :P

Very good job, I love it!

  • WOW... Its amazing!!!!

  • great vid!

  • oi en mä ees muistanu miten hyvältä tarjan ääni kuulostaa ku niil on se uus laulaja... :)

  • my fave song + my fave movie = AWESOME!

    thnx for the vid :)

  • yay.. me too <3333

  • Nightwish doesn't belong to my most favorite bands, but this video is excellent... brilliant combination of music and snapshots from the LOTR (Tolkien was one of the best writers in the history). Good work :-)

  • O M G - this is one of the BEST videos i've ever seen!!!

unbelieveable, i cannot find the right words for this.

    it was simply perfect<3

  • (sorry for my broken english) :S

  • love the first seconds, when frodo is running. the beginning of the music is good with it.

  • FFFFFFFF- I have to watch LOTR now NOW!

Awesome video. Awesome song. AWESOME! O__O

  • Love how the solo at 2:46 starts right as gandalf falls into the pit. Great imagery at that point - for some reason, very touching.

  • wow this is good, i usually cant be bothered to watch the videos on these, i just enjoy music. this is beautiful though! nicely paced :) good job!

  • Too bad there aren't any snowmen in LOTR.

  • wow i hate lord of the rings but this is fantastic the musci suits it so well ^_^ well done *titanic huggles*

  • this is so good! love the song!

  • Wonderful! A really excellent LotR-song.

    Everyone remember: Love Galadriel <3

And by the way, as I gave you all several points, you could surely give me a few?

  • makes for a very good montage...timing with the music is almost perfect

  • Crap, I meant to give this 5 stars, but my mouse had a mind of its own for a second and gave it 4. Sorry bout that...anyway, this vid gave me chills! Great editing, and the song does fit really well with LOTR. Awesome job! Keep up the great work!

  • nightwish sings this song amazingly

i used to sing it all the time when i was little *thinks of the movie "the snowman"*

    and this vid is STUNNING!

  • I love this video

    <3

  • OH MY GOD ! Had this been the trailer for LOTR there would have been riots for tickets. Is Epic-gasmic a word yet? It is now! Oh just imagine if old Nightwish had done a soundtrack for a movie. EPICGASMIC!!

  • Deserves nothing but SEVEN stars, Love it and add it to my favorites!

  • MichaelBat,,Chloe Agnew with all due respect is not even close to this. This was performed by Tarja Tururnen while she was with Nightwish. An awesome Finnish rock band. Tarja Turunen is a classical trained singer who performs metal..rock. While with Nightwish they were awesome. She still is.

  • Great video.

I always get goose bumps in that solo.

  • so unreal...

  • Finally a rock version of this song >:)

  • Oh. my. god. I'm blown away...the song gave me chills and the video was fabulous! I've still got goosebumps!

  • great cover. good video

  • maravilhoso!!!!!! incrível!! ;)

  • 1:12 is just incredible when the drums start that is just the start of the greatness for me.

  • Extraordinary Video

but I like Chloë Agnew;s version of the song better

  • I totally agree!

  • amazing vid!
