The later models of SU 25 can use TV-guided munition And Vikhr ATGM is being replaced by the Hermes fire and forget ATGM. Su-25TM/Su-39 overall has a more impressive weapons suite.

Certainly the A-10C is a tremendously superior aircraft, but the superiority of the A-10C is in the deep job of the aircraft electronics, is slow, difficult to retrieve and unreliable in maneuvers that require minimal 4G. On the other hand, need not go too fast, it is not expected that the pilot constantly face situations where excessive demands on the plane and within the limits of the 4G, the aircraft performs very well.

Aside from being much more stable in slow flight (which is necessary for super accurate targetting) the 30mm Avenger Cannon on the A-10 is far superior to the cannon on the Frogfoot. The only clear advantage the Frogfoot has over the A-10 is it's get-away capability. The Frogfoot is capable of flying at over Mach-1 wheras the A-10 is subsonic.

Su-25SM It is modernization of plane Su-25 which already arrive in armies, in 2008 in South Ossetia they already hollowed the Georgian.
In some years on arms in Russia there will be only Su-25SM, just as in USA A-10C. I compared just А-10С to Su-25SM and Su-25T - after set of fighting possibilities and flight characteristics Su-25 it is better.
The A-10 can also take a beating and keep on going. In fact, it can lose a wing and still fly. Also, the A-10 does have titanium armor around the pilot in addition to self-sealing fuel tanks. The SU-25 CANNOT go supersonic either and does not have a 30mm Gatling gun on it's nose.

@kris1991 you're an Idiot! The Su-25 doesn't have a 30mm Gatling gun on it's nose, but it has a dual barreled 30mm auto cannon. It doesn't fire as fast, but it fires more accurate rounds, thus conserving ammunition. The Avenger i a beast, but let's face it the A-10 was built around the gun. The Su-25's cannon serves it's purpose excellently, It has 80mm rockets that penetrate 400mm of RHA and ERA, so why would they need a 7 barreled cannon?
There is a report of an A-10 flying back wo base with ony 1 engine, or it could be wing or both an engine and wing being taken out. That seems pretty good to me. Not syaing the SU-25 is not a good aircraft, the Russians can make good planes. Just saying the A-10 sucks is kind of dumb. Plus the thing that matters most is the pilots. Which are not in the video. I don't think supersonic capability is very practical for low-level CAS. I'm sure you're also aware that the A-10 is also nearly impossible to shoot down; it was designed to absorb ridiculous amounts of damage and still fly home. Also, I happen to be in the USAF as a weapons loader on fighter aircraft. My father was career Air Force, and his father, and his father's uncle. I'm sure they'd agree when I say you'd be HARD PRESSED to find any US fighter pilot who doesn't think his plane is the best.
It is not supersonic but faster than A-10. As for being shot they are both vulnerable to ground fire due to their mission profiles. Not to mention both a sitting ducks to any fighter. Anyway, Sukhoi is tougher. A-10 is proved good in SNC against rebels. I don't think it will be any better than turkey in any real NSW there the enemy still owns some firepower.

When it comes to payloads and speed, Su-25 has an advantage, but it's far more difficult to fly, its technology is inferior, and the durability with both planes is pretty much the same. A plane like this is no good if you can't find the targets in the first place, and the A-10 is superior technologically. The Su-25 is the A-10 equivalent and vise-versa. Nothing more, nothing less.

There are countless stories of A-10's being damaged in combat and being able to get back to base with a missing wing, engine, vertical stabilizer or other major damage. The A-10 is just as rugged at the SU-25 if not more. The A-10 was designed with ruggedness in mind.
For all history there was no case of destruction of the pilot in Su-25.
To the reservation the capsule knows the business, in Afghanistan and in the Chechen Republic there were cases when Su-25 came back after hit of three "Stinger", in 2008 have brought down 3 Su-25 - all pilots are live. 4 more Su-25 have been damaged from rockets and have returned on base with the various damages, one has arrived with two damaged engines

Grach will actually go supersonic if left alone long enough (Jeff Ethel) and this is important when doing cross-FLOT BAI and OBAS as is the real regime of most 'CAS' jets. The Su-25 having more in common with the A-7 than A-9/10 in this respect.
Additionally, the A-10 has massive problems with engines & wing stall issues at altitude where it is nominally MANPADS safe.
Even using flat-rate TF34 core upgrade, it reaches a point where it cannot go faster because of an airfoil stall margin issue & it's armed drag is greater than the ability of engine cruise performance to overcome.
This makes it very easy to get behind the power curve & effects tactics with long climbouts from firing passes & difficult transits/refueling in the 20-22,00ft regime.
The A-10 is a hurryup solution to keeping the (Key West) USAF in the CAS business while disenfranchising the AH-56.
The Su-25 is faster, but the A-10 is more agile. And the fat back variants of the 25 are real flying bricks.
The A-10 canopy has better all-around and downwards visibility.

Therefore, I would have to say just from a practice standpoint that the A-10 squadrons would do a better job. It may be an entirely different story with equivalent training and funding.

The SU-25 has the same armor and 30mm canon, is faster and more manouvreable, and has a longer flight range.

The su 25 has enough tests in real battle, (afghaistan) where the lack of hard targets (tanks) would make the unguided rocket the most effective, i.e. taking out a large area at a relativly cheap cost. they have missiles for tanks as effective as ours and probably more reliable, most of their equipment seems built with that and cost in mind.

A-10, but they are similar! A-10 has fire and forget missiles like the ATGM-65 Maverick. It mostly depends on it devastating 30mm using Uranium Depleted rounds, at a super high rate in between 60-100 per second! SU-25 depends on its unguided rockets! I watched it in action and it did not fire a single Vihkr missile! They both have capabilities that the other plane does not have, so I am not sure. A-10 has had much more experience in real battle!

That;s not to detract from the qualities of the A10 in anyway which is a superb aircraft, in the environments of rough runways (fields) , mixed or poor quality fuel acceptance, and titanium cockpit and armour plating the SU25 is at least a match, and is more versatile and open to wider range of operations.

you are wrong. There are confirmed situation (in Georgia) when Su-25 returned back home after 2 Kub's missles hits. Also many confirmed cases (mostly in Afghanistan) Su-25 returned home with several stinger hits into engines. Also hit of one 30 mm shell not critical mostly to all modern warplanes.

The 80mm rockets that have been upgrade with the KOR designation are now laser guided and 1 rocket can completely kill a M1A1 or M1A2. the Avenger cannon is effective against infantry and soft skinned vehicles, but the Frogfoot has larser guided rockets,bombs,and missles that can out range the 30mm avenger.

The A-10 can also take a beating and keep on going. In fact, it can lose a wing and still fly. Also, the A-10 does have titanium armor around the pilot in addition to self-sealing fuel tanks. The SU-25 CANNOT go supersonic either and does not have a 30mm Gatling gun on it's nose.

dude mach one is 340ms*-1 in 25 degrees, this thing has MIG 21 engines in it.... the airframe limits it from going mach 2, but it can go mach 1, no need to be jealous/bias, i support the A - 10, in fact i like the A - 10 better as its slower therefore easier to control and aim its weapons.

@kris1991 you're an Idiot! The Su-25 doesn't have a 30mm Gatling gun on it's nose, but it has a dual barreled 30mm auto cannon. It doesn't fire as fast, but it fires more accurate rounds, thus conserving ammunition. The Avenger i a beast, but let's face it the A-10 was built around the gun. The Su-25's cannon serves it's purpose excellently, It has 80mm rockets that penetrate 400mm of RHA and ERA, so why would they need a 7 barreled cannon?

There is a report of an A-10 flying back wo base with ony 1 engine, or it could be wing or both an engine and wing being taken out. That seems pretty good to me. Not syaing the SU-25 is not a good aircraft, the Russians can make good planes. Just saying the A-10 sucks is kind of dumb. Plus the thing that matters most is the pilots. Which are not in the video. Sure it might be fast, but with out the pilots both planes can't do shit. They can't even take off.

The A-10 is the better aircraft. Simple as that. Sure, the Frogfoot has more speed, but the A-10 is far more capable of taking battle damage. The A-10 has confirmed gun kills out past 4 kilometers and its cockpit armor is capable of withstanding upto 57mm cannon rounds. Flight controls are triple redundant.
Its loiter time is greater and can carry some incredibly lethal weapons.

I don't think supersonic capability is very practical for low-level CAS. I'm sure you're also aware that the A-10 is also nearly impossible to shoot down; it was designed to absorb ridiculous amounts of damage and still fly home. Also, I happen to be in the USAF as a weapons loader on fighter aircraft. My father was career Air Force, and his father, and his father's uncle. I'm sure they'd agree when I say you'd be HARD PRESSED to find any US fighter pilot who doesn't think his plane is the best.

It is not supersonic but faster than A-10. As for being shot they are both vulnerable to ground fire due to their mission profiles. Not to mention both a sitting ducks to any fighter. Anyway, Sukhoi is tougher. A-10 is proved good in SNC against rebels. I don't think it will be any better than turkey in any real NSW there the enemy still owns some firepower.

When it comes to payloads and speed, Su-25 has an advantage, but it's far more difficult to fly, its technology is inferior, and the durability with both planes is pretty much the same. A plane like this is no good if you can't find the targets in the first place, and the A-10 is superior technologically. The Su-25 is the A-10 equivalent and vise-versa. Nothing more, nothing less.

There are countless stories of A-10's being damaged in combat and being able to get back to base with a missing wing, engine, vertical stabilizer or other major damage. The A-10 is just as rugged at the SU-25 if not more. The A-10 was designed with ruggedness in mind.

For all history there was no case of destruction of the pilot in Su-25.
To the reservation the capsule knows the business, in Afghanistan and in the Chechen Republic there were cases when Su-25 came back after hit of three "Stinger", in 2008 have brought down 3 Su-25 - all pilots are live. 4 more Su-25 have been damaged from rockets and have returned on base with the various damages, one has arrived with two damaged engines

Grach will actually go supersonic if left alone long enough (Jeff Ethel) and this is important when doing cross-FLOT BAI and OBAS as is the real regime of most 'CAS' jets. The Su-25 having more in common with the A-7 than A-9/10 in this respect.
Additionally, the A-10 has massive problems with engines & wing stall issues at altitude where it is nominally MANPADS safe.

Even using flat-rate TF34 core upgrade, it reaches a point where it cannot go faster because of an airfoil stall margin issue & it's armed drag is greater than the ability of engine cruise performance to overcome.
This makes it very easy to get behind the power curve & effects tactics with long climbouts from firing passes & difficult transits/refueling in the 20-22,00ft regime.
The A-10 is a hurryup solution to keeping the (Key West) USAF in the CAS business while disenfranchising the AH-56.

The A-10 canopy has better all-around and downwards visibility.
The A-10 landing gear is arranged to reduce damage during belly landings. The Su-25 (and almost every soviet war plane) can effectively land on a field of shit.
Both airplanes are very durable, but the Su-25's use of diesel for its engines its quite impressive.

Su-25 is smaller, is 270 km/h faster, has better protection because its steering works with rods, not cables like the Thunderbolt.
The Thunderbolt is loved by US pilots for saving their lives and not crashing down even with lots of damage. But they hate the way it flies. Even very experienced pilots had difficulties flying the A10.
The SU-25 has the same armor and 30mm canon, is faster and more manouvreable, and has a longer flight range.
A10 has a higher altitude platform.

The SU25 will have to give way to new generation aircraft that can carry smart weapon systems. Future wars will be fought in major cities so blanketing an entire city block with rockets and 500lb bombs will be ineffective. Those tactics didnt work in chechnya, they didnt work in afghanistan and they didnt work in vietnam.

The A-10 is more successful for two key reasons.
1) The A-10 is piloted by some of the best military pilots who live as they have 20% more training than Russian Su-25 pilots.
2)The A-10s engines are mounted above the wing which protect them form ground-fire.
Those are the reasons why the PERCENTAGE succes rate of the A-10 is 12% greater than the Su-25.

The su 25 has enough tests in real battle, (afghaistan) where the lack of hard targets (tanks) would make the unguided rocket the most effective, i.e. taking out a large area at a relativly cheap cost. they have missiles for tanks as effective as ours and probably more reliable, most of their equipment seems built with that and cost in mind.

A-10, but they are similar! A-10 has fire and forget missiles like the ATGM-65 Maverick. It mostly depends on it devastating 30mm using Uranium Depleted rounds, at a super high rate in between 60-100 per second! SU-25 depends on its unguided rockets! I watched it in action and it did not fire a single Vihkr missile! They both have capabilities that the other plane does not have, so I am not sure. A-10 has had much more experience in real battle!

you are wrong. There are confirmed situation (in Georgia) when Su-25 returned back home after 2 Kub's missles hits. Also many confirmed cases (mostly in Afghanistan) Su-25 returned home with several stinger hits into engines. Also hit of one 30 mm shell not critical mostly to all modern warplanes.

of course it returned. This aircraft cant evade even primitive MANPADS. It is too slow even for CAS aircraft. Can it manoure well? Some say yes, because of turn rate. But it cant even do loops and barrels!!!
