Why would you do this? Even if you have enough ram its a bad idea, considering some applications look for the paging file I would recommend lowering down the paging file to 256mb or 512mb. Also if you don't have a lot of memory and you have 2 HDD move the paging file on the HDD windows is not installed on it will make it run faster.
I am sorry but this will not speed up anything because with enough RAM, page file isn't used actively anyways. Also Windows 7 (or any NT-based Windows) requires pagefile to be present at all times (for recording memory crash dump, for instance).
enable pagefile only when you have encounter with memory error messages, if you never get memory error message from software you use, disable pagefile better for your hdd, use pagefile to prevent memory error messages appear
"you lucky bastard! 2 have a machine like that!!!"
its either u havent seen a good computer ( or a new one and cant afford one) or just retarded... his computer is not even close to being good so stfu and go play on ur 512mb of ram piece of crap
just to show u what isnt concidered crap
Intel Core i7 Quad Processor
10 gigs of ram
Nvidia GeForce 295 Gtx (1 gig of dedicated ram)
and liquid cooling since the processor is gonna burn out within 5 min if u use normal fan cooling
the page file holds applications that cannon t fit on the ram if you go over the amount of ram you have then the app is loaded in page file or fake ram and to run again it has to be loaded into the ram and another program from the ram is thrown in the page file until the one you want to run can fit in your ram
I was under the impression that instead of 'no paging file', you'd be better suited to set the initial size and maximum size to the same as your total available memory. What have you heard?
@TechGeeksOnline Do you think windows 7 will use pagefile over ram? no... it will use ram until it runs out... so disabling the pagefile is just a placebo effect.
apps will crash if you run out of memory, thats what it's there for, disabling it causes no speed increase whatsoever because it's not used until it's needed
Thanks, i was wondering how to do that. My machine that i built has 8GB of ram at 1066MHz, and a really slow drive, so I am wondering if it's slowing me down by not using my RAM and using my slow hard drive instead, will report on gaming performance after I test, unless I get really side-tracked.
no real difference in gaming, it only makes me feel better that there are not a bunch of writes being done to my drive for no reason when I have 8GB RAM.
if it causes instability I will re-enable it though.
It increases performance by reducing temporary hard drive storage so your hard drive will also last longer. If you have XP you could do this if you had over 1.5 GB RAM. Just don't increase your paging file size like some people say.
I think you misunderstand what this actually does. It has nothing to do with the cpu speed, but more of the speed of programs and the operating system as it states in the title of the video.
By disabling the page file you reduce the need for programs to use the hard disk which is much slower than ram, forcing programs to use the faster virtual memory, essentially making everything run faster on your machine.
Much better if you adjust or increase the paging file 1.5 times the number of your physical RAM.

That is 100% correct. If you have enough RAM however, you can store everything in RAM which is faster.

Why does this not work on less than 3gb ram?
antoniomapogi 1 year ago
It will work but it depends on how much you multitask. It will probably work fine with even 2 GB on Windows XP.
It's just that if you go over your RAM capacity your computer will be REALLY slow.

@all,
1 The Swap File cannot be disabled.
2 Windows NEEDS the Swap File, the way it's programmed.
3 The user who made this video didn't ectualy disabled the Swap File, because F:\ is still system managed.
4 There's a better way to set your Swap File.

The paging file can help but if you have enough memory to do without it it's only slowing you down by slowing down read/write speeds.

I have 2048MB Ram aka 2GB so I cant do this? I want to do it so I can speed up GTAIV (for more fps)

Well, it was built a year ago, and I managed to get the RAM pretty cheap, like, $100 for 8GB of DDR2 1066MHz, now the price has doubled......

Why would you do a video on how to speed up your cpu but only for people with 3 GB of RAM or more? WTF then they wouldnt need this shit wow...
