Amazing Sketch! And striking form. how do you go about getting a particular form for when you start drawing your designs? do you do many initial sketching before going into detail? I just got my degree in Product design but I have always been fascinated by concept car artwork especially the visualisation stage.

how do you know which ellipse to use?

Draw a square in perspective that encompasses the surface area of the wheel/ellipse. The proper size ellipse will fit inside the square and touch all four sides of the square and remain on the minor and major axis. A common problem is that the portion of the ellipse nearest the viewer will distort since perspective has this effect. So it won't always touch the square. Just grab a slightly larger ellipse and blend it with the lines drawn further in depth.
