This was such a lovely film. I really wasn't in the mood for another typical scary movie depicting "ghosts" in a frighteningly malevolent way. It's really being overplayed; all these paranormal films and shows trying to get the best scares possible out of the ideologies people have about the "spirit world/etc." This film, however, gave it a heartwarming feel in its ending. There are "soothing ghost stories" with endearing meaning to be told, too. Hardly anyone gets a dose of that from films now.

Thanks to the person for the finale music download. The music is so beautiful at the end, so I will treasure it! What a GREAT film! SO much better than if Hollywood re-makes it, which they probably WILL, and SUCK at doing it. Probably starring Adam Sandler and a LOT of BLOOD and GUTS special effects and groin shots for NO GOOD REASON..SOME FARTING NOISES, etc....anything they can do to screw up a poignant film so they can "DUMB IT DOWN" to Americans.....cause they think MOST of us are STUPID

She died because of the pills... but it's a dual answer 'couse Simon and Laura, to find their own tresure, they whised the same. Laura wished to be again with her son and Simon wished that Laura to stay forever taking care for the children... but the only way to be reunited is Laura death.

No, the father didn't die, unless Laura suicided herself with some pills and she could be with Simon again. Carlos at the end, found the necklace and the room's door was opened, that meant that Laura was with their son. That the reason why Carlos laughed, he realised Laura and Simon were together again.

Trully, Del Toro didnt create this masterpiece, he just was the producer. Sergio G. Sanchez and Bayona (writer and director) were the creators of this movie. Moreover, Sergio G. Sanchez is working now with Del Toro in his new film doing the screenplay. ^^

Fantastic film, both scary and sad...

And a hard one for me to watch again - Simon is the spitting image of my nephew, which made Laura's discovery quite traumatic.

Won't bother with the US remake - this is excellent without need to follow up.
