  • @Gillesb&helen I wouldnt call it THE most beautiful piece of music ever written...but it is really beautiful! Itzhak is INCREDIBLE

  • vnpei, it's written in Wikipedia that he wrote this concerto while suffering from depression caused by his disastrous marriage. He must have been really sad

  • This is great. I'm playing this on clarinet and it is very hard.

  • The conductor looks like Mr. Pitt.

  • 5people are death!! help them!!

  • Quel grand artiste que ce M. Perlman. Il rend avec une sensibilité juste et profonde ce beau chagrin musical de Tchaïkovshi. Bravo!

  • PRECIOSO

  • Tchaikovsky's violin concerto has to be the most emotional piece of music ever written . . . and nobody plays it as beautifully as Itzhak Perlman :)

  • @helenschmelen I FULLY agree with you

  • I love how Mr. Pearlmen is smiling while playing this... :)

  • penso ke meglio di così non si possa suonare...

  • @Jeremylmp There is a much telling story about Tchaikovsky who during a snow ride tenderly covered the nose of the young violinist, Kotek, to keep it warm, whilst he himself endured the sweetest pains from the cold on his hands.

Some writers write on a stream of consciousness - something equivalent must exist in musical terms that will lead to such poignant outcome.

  • This is not tchaikovsky, is Sibelius, arranged by tchaikovsky !

  • I wonder what went through the head of the composer! - Tchaikovsky was an eloquent man, and as a composer/musician even more so - it must have been something that has to do with love ...

  • @vnpei Most certainly. He wanted to dedicate his Concerto to a fellow violinist but he was afraid of exposing his homosexuality.

  • this is so great

  • I love to wonder what Bach would have made of this.

  • Beautifully Crafted and Truly Magnificent

  • who doesnt like perlman

  • Perlman is a genious. You guys also need to check out FERENC Illenyi, one of the best violinists of all time. Especially the Cadenza he wrote for this piece. Out of this world.

  • ferenc illenyi must be the father of katica; a great violinist also!!

  • The eighties were heavy man ! There were music; but we had to get over jobs and bosses, for trying a tune and leave again !

  • That conductor puffed a few joints before hitting the stage.

  • Comment removed

  • I hate bad comments. They point to imperfections in the music that I wouldn't otherwise have noticed. Then, that feeling of perfection is gone forever.

  • @halneufmille just like santa

  • from 3.36 to 4.08 is my favourite

  • I don't know whose facial expression is funnier: Itzak's, the conductor, or the flute xD

I'm auditioning this song. So pretty <3 Itzak's just having a blast. That horn is on steroids

  • LOL at conductor

  • One of the many great things about Perlman is that he's as much fun to watch as he is to listen to. :)

  • fucking horn..... the sound check is so bad!! I cant even hear to perlman because of the horn

  • que graaaandee!!!!!!!

  • You love him, but in waiting you aren't sure about what he is playing. You have titled the video (itself) Final... instead of Canzonetta... ahah...

  • Abe: He plays from his heart and not from his brain

  • @ronenyog My heart pumps blood, what does your heart do!? D:

  • Listen to Itzhak Perlman violin is to be in paradise. I love you so much!!!

  • I love it !!

  • Is he playing a Stratovarious?

  • sends shivers up your spine doesn't it......wonderful piece

  • Beautiful! Hermoso!

  • one my my favourite pieces played by one of my favourite players of all time - it does not get any better than this, what I hear and feel when I listen to this movement played by Perlman, is the soul of the player and the soul of the man who wrote the music - it is truly magical

  • this must be one of the most beautiful pieces tchaikovsky ever composed.

and i love the conductor's face haha :D

  • By far one of the pretties pieces ever written in classical music. Utter perfection, every note.

  • @kashfitzelnuten I love his double chin xDDDD 0.33

  • bellissimo, nonostante il pessimo audio!!!!

  • I could kill him for writing this with all the different positions. It's not impossible or something, but it's a bitch to keep it in tune...

  • my last name is Canzonetta.

  • I believe the conductor is Eugene Ormandy.

  • who is the conductor?

  • So beautiful!

  • I mean can anybody tell me if Tchaicowsky ever wrote a wrong note and I wouldn´t believe it , the melody, rhythm and harmony found in this out of this world genius is seldom encountered in human music history, the more I hear him the more I give twisters to my head trying to understand how a human being was capable to compose too many a beautiful melodies, it simply goes beyond my comprehension, long live the soul:Tchaicowsky!

  • Welcome to the loyal and proud undergound Tchaikovsky fanbase. We know very well who the best Russian composer is and has always been <3 No one, not even Mozart or Bach or Beethoven can touch my soul like this sad Russian master. I'M SO GLAD HE DROPPED OUT OF LAW SCHOOL, YAY!

  • Yeah, it is a shame he was murder just right before he was finnished writting down his flute concerto, it would had been one of our best flute concertos ever!

  • (Tchaikovsky had written to his friend that the flute concerto was finnished on his head, it was just a matter of putting it on paper, flute concerto was going to be dedicated to the great Taffanel)

  • I wish I could go back in time and learn to play an instrument...such beautiful music

  • it is never too late

  • please do, its always good to have more people playing classical music, sometimes I feel we are a dying breed... Then I see perlman and Hilary hahn and others and I know im not alone :D

  • ViolinSpaz i think u had watch too much movie XD

  • Like degenericni said, it is never too late. The violin is a beautiful instrument to play. I play the clarinet myself. It has a very warm, rich tone which is why it is my favourite instrument and I would recommend it. It is also fairly easy to learn.

  • you dont need to go back

  • i have the sheet music

  • this is really nicely played...

  • very good!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you for posting this beautiful and historic concert with these great artists!

  • I think Tchaikovsky is one of the best composers and the fact that canzonetta is played by Itzhak Perlman makes it sound even more amazing

  • How much experience I need to be able to touch this? Because I have problems with the high notes

  • A lot.

  • lol, yeah, the canzonetta is pretty simple, the rest is REALLY hard though. Beautiful, though.

  • I have done my FTCL and I still struggle with it alot even with alot of practice. But practice your shifts slowly. Even if its not in your skill level still give it a go really slowly, it will help with your sight reading and who knows? you might get there eventually

  • Hmm...I've noticed a lot of the greats have higher thumbs on the fingerboard...is this significant? Because mine is not that high and if it is then it's extremely unconfortable

  • Hits me right in the heart!

  • Same effect on me, I'm having wine. Wine + canzonetta by Tchaikovsky + night = Heaven.

  • lols

  • what's wrong with me saying "lols"

  • I have cried with this piece, oh I love it!

  • If u knew something about music, hahaidontcare, you would respect other musicians' opinions. So if u don't have any positive commnts, keep it for urself. Perlman is a great violinist!

  • great video!

  • I love his involvement in the music and his musicality is just great. You can hear the beauty in EVERY SINGLE NOTE... :)

    GREATTT!

  • Why do you say such things? He may not be my favorite violinist, but he is amazing with his phrasing and his interpretations.

  • I agree.

  • do you even know anything about music?

  • do you know what you sound like??!!

  • Have you ever studied music? Don't you have any common sense to feel beautiful music? Don't you know anything about good violinists?

Perlman is a outstanding and well-known violinist, a man of excellence, and has great musicality. His violin is so beautifl; so many people like him all over the world. You are so funny!

  • I am so sorry that you used only bad language. You have NO CLASS!!! NO WONDER YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND MUSIC!!!

  • You are a disgrace to music and the world. I bet you have no friends or loved ones.

  • he just knows what he is doing and has an assurance that others might find a bit unnerving. when I perform music, I feel anxious but confident and hopeful, even though I know I will falter a bit from time to time. Perlman has a physical challenge, but his musical acumen is as sharp and undaunting as that of Stevie Wonder, Bocelli or the great Willie Johnson.

  • so pretty i agree Perlman is amazing

  • really impressive! very beautiful

  • Itzhak Perlman !!!! Uno de mis violinistas favoritos, interpretando uno de los conciertos mas hermosos jamás escrito......

  • Anyone recognize this superb orchestra? Thanks for posting, beautiful!

  • It's the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Eugene Ormandy. Perlman's dark hair and bushy sideburns date the recording to the 70s. At that time, the Philadelphia woodwind principals were Murray Panitz, flute, John de Lancie, oboe, Anthony Gigliotti, clarinet and Bernard Garfield, bassoon -- as good a group as ever lived.

  • wow, how did you know all that? were you in the orchestra? anyway i saw that you're 69 and i think its cool that you're on youtube checking out old videos =)

  • i love the way he makes it sing and that tone would even have amazed tchaikovsky im sure

did you know tchaikovsky started writing this concerto when he saw sarasate play the lalo?

  • You can do Google search and read about him. Tchaikovsky wrote this concerto when he had a hard time. You can find a lot of things about him quickly.

  • I wouldn't be surprised. The best of art often comes out of pain.

  • wow thanks for the info!

  • I love Itzhak Perlman. He is the best, or at least one of the best in the world. He has been so amazing, and his music is very beautiful that it shakes my soul.

  • i love him very very very very :)))

  • Is tat some kind of sad song?

  • nope... it isn't... try to merge with the music and you will know the feeling

  • anybody got the a video with the flute playing the solo instead?

  • yitzhak is just one example of jewish superiority.

    stupendous and masterful performance.thank hashem

    for yitzhak.

  • well hi great video. I play the Flute, and Clarinet. I played this with my highschool band exept i had the flute solo. Beautiful piece.

  • yeah i agree...grow up man...get a life...

  • That fuckin jew is better at violin than you are at anything in your entire life, so how's it feel, loser?

  • wow grow up.

  • That guy is genius. This piece is very very fast and very hard to bear with for any violinist out there. This guy is the one for sure. Amazing performance. I have to say violin is the hardest instrument to play with cause you can't really tell how your fingers to locate from the side not like guitar where you look from the top to bottom. Also you need to stand with strict stance which is another toucher part to hang with. Anyway it's amazing.

  • soz.. do you play violin? because the tone is just a matter of your brain.. the more you play, and when you have the whole system in your head. its not a matter from looking where to put your fingers. For the rest.. yes Perlman is one of the best. Though there are just diffrent intrepetations. Which means i isnt just the best.. No-one is just the best. Thank you for posting.. love it..

  • I used to play violin, flute, percussion instruments, piano, cello and guitar. All of them have their own idiocyncracy but out of all violin stands out the most. That's why the violin is the core essence to the orchestra. Yes you are right practice is another issue to be considered with however, I found violin the toughest in comparison to how much time I need to spend with to get hang of it. My pinky finger didn't move as I thought I could in violin, hard to stretch out.

  • Yeah.. but that dusnt mean you look where you put your fingers on the violin.. for the rest i havnt played any other instrument, exept flute and piano.. which are much easier, but also much more ordinary (with violin you can do so many things, even play a false note.. try to play one on the piano.. (A))

  • lol~ i have never thought about that....trying to play a fase note on piano....thats funny..

  • I playe Viola and honestly i find the violin much easier to play.

  • I never played viola before so I don't know what to say... But What I have played so far, violin seems to be tough for me. My left arm didn't go into the right and made my fingers hard to stretch out. That was the biggest obstacle for me because I learn violin at around 6th grade or so. Anyway, I guess Viola is harder.

  • It's true, I play both violin and viola and viola is much more difficult, especially since I play a 17".

  • the viola is a little more dificult, because its larger, i play both and i now find the violin is to small for me. i'd have to get used to the size again. my viola is a 16" so it's big enough for a diference.

    lolz.

    MWAH!!!!

  • And music knows no boundries! that includes religions and ethnic groups. for example the butterfly concerto is an asian peice yet it is played useing european instraments. and so on.

    MWAH!!!

  • Fast? Oh yeah, this piece just goes like the wind...

    ???

Of course, the performance is amazing though. It's a beautiful song.

  • I love him. Thanks for posting it :-)

  • thank u very muchh! wonderfull!

  • ;_;

  • Thank you so VERY MUCH for posting this.

  • as usual Itzak Perlman plays like an angel, what a genius. ty for bringing him to us.
