This track finally taught me the main difference between President Kennedy and President George W Bush. One had his brains blown out while the other behaved as if he'd had his brains blown out.......
Not very danceable? People have lost their soul, old music isn't getting worse as time passes people. It's the new music that's starting to suck. We're so used to every single track on every single album being a 'club' jam that we now believe anything else is 'not danceable'.
Just to repeat a post I put on the We'll Be Right Back thread. I have the NME Hat Trick EP featuring this version. As you can (just) see from the image here it came out in the UK in FEB 1987 and it's credited to Steinsky & the Mass Media feat. DJ ET! On the same side is Sonic Youth – White Cross (Live) and, again, if you squint, you can see that in the image above as well. And, on the flip, oh boy: Sly & Robbie – When You're Hot You're Hot (Live in London)!
"We dare not forget today that we are airs of that first revolution!" - Brilliant homage and obituary possibly the most profound of all the kennedy homages.
Awesome. One of the best examples of the cut up method from those days in my opinion but what would I know!
Only had it taped off the radio back in the 80's and still love it. You can get it off i Tunes! Couldn't belive it but would still love the vinyl but alas...
i have a different mix with sampling of "honky tonk women" used as the rhythm thack and other differences on the compilation cd DEATH OF VINYL, on the Dove label. sadly my copy is damaged and can't be played.
Wow, thanks. I have not heard this in years; Cfny in Toronto used to play this every weekend when they had the all-night dance party. I used to have it virtually memorized and it would run through my head all day.
Thanks for your nice comments. BTW did you own the very limited Tommy Boy promo from 1986, or the 1994 bootleg that also had Young MC "know how" and some other songs?
Try d i s c o g s d o t c o m , search the artist and you should find a few copies for sale . ( i am not selling a copy , and don't know anyone personally who is).
I love this tune but I could never find a hard copy of it. Does anyone know where I could get one? I first heard it on CAPITAL RADIO in London way back in the early eighties when they used to have a Friday night hip hop program.

Isn't this the edited version? The one I had played the sample "flash" when the reporters says "here is a flash"

Still got my two copies of this. Came free with NME mag which I think was about 50 pence at the time. So, the two copies of this cost me a pound.
Not even sure how much it's worth today, but I know it ain't cheap.

I guess that is 'pretentious' as in 'bollocks'. Welcome to the 1990's. Welcome to advertising. Welcome to banking. Welcome to anarchy.
