Everyone that's read 1984 realizes how frighteningly similar it is to the world we currently live in. In the end of the book the protagonist realizes he had been tricked! That there were no rebels and that it was just an other level of government control...

They don't have full editorial control, but well if an interviewee says something there isn't much the folk upstairs can do about it short of a "technical fault". So these journalists invite people who others don't, not everybody in the system is part of the system, if you know what I mean. Dobbs had to leave CNN remember?
