"proselytize". My, such expensive words for you. Trying to impress all non-americans on youtube with you're vocabulary here are you? So, how do you call someone who calls someone a 'moron' without knowing him personally or judges without full understandment? Sure, conspiracies are not real, they don't exist. Your government is honest, illuminati, freemasons and satanists in the highest ranks doesn't exist. Al-Qaida blew up WTC lol
Not sure where you're from .. or what your "real agenda" is, but this video is about The Buffalo Springfield and their music - it would be nice if you could stay on subject.
@BDM55 i wasn't born to be 'nice' friend. Maybe you should try and think out of the box for a change and realize there's 'more to the picture than meets the eye'.
Go to davesweb.cnchost.com/nwsltr93.html 'inside laurel canyon'.
Or listen to this: /watch?v=hRc6FRBxpUY
John Todd, a big cahuna of zodiac productions and a very very close friend of David Crosby spills the beans. I made my own conclusions, but feel free to think otherwise.
Btw, i'm certainly no religious person, let alone a fanatic.
@apsscinc .. hey no problem - I know what you mean ... it seems to be getting harder and harder to watch these videos without someone going off on some tangent ... it would be nice to just enjoy the music and the history some of us were fortunate to live through.
i don't believe one word of the whole laurel canyon scene. An intelligent person understands the 60s hippie culture was completely staged by the cia to control the masses once again without them of course even sensing it because they are so numb. Good old sheep they are which i'm sure that pastor in the clip loves dearly.
@YouDonteverhavetodie You embody everything that's really entertaining about YouTube; a moron with too much time on his hands sitting around dreaming up conspiracy theories to rationalize events of 40-some years ago, and futilely attempting to proselytize the other posters.
I grew up in a place called Enon, Ohio. near Yellow Springs, Clifton Gorge, and Antioch college. His cousin,Steve Furay, was a great fullback and a great guy at Greenon High School, and Poco did a free gig in Yellow Springs the morning after our senior prom in 1971.
It was interesting and surprising to hear from Furay and Messina. I am happy for Furay because he seems to have found what he was looking for. Messina is benefiting other players and raising a son. Good for them both. If they had died of an overdose, people would be here worshiping them. Instead, I see sarcasm about Furay's faith!
Richie seems to be in the best shape of all the original members and the most congenial. Stills and N Young were the driving forces (and combating forces!) but Richie was developing as a writer, did sing several of Neil's early songs, and began writing songs on the second and last albums. I like Neil, but he and Stills screwed up the reunion possibilities.
His voice was awesome at the recent Bridge Concert. I emailed him after the concert to say how much I enjoyed it, and he was kind enough to write back and say thank you. What a humble gentleman !!

The two less important and least talented members of the band do all the taking. Nobody cares. I want to hear Neil or Steve not a Christian talk about music.
Ha! Ritchie, one of the least talented members of the band? He and Steve Stills were the key songwriters of the group. Their songs are Buffalo Springfield! Not to mention the voices of Springfield! Without Ritchie, the group doesn't stand up as well. I hardly consider Messina a real member, however.
SORRY YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR FACTS RIGHT. NEIL (AND STEVE) WROTE 85% OF THE SONGS BUF. SP. RECORDED (NOT ALL GOT TO RECORD). RICHIE WROTE 1 GREAT SONG - SAD MEMORY AND 1 GOOD SONG - KIND WOMAN. NEIL WROTE EXPECTING TO FLY, MR SOUL, ON THE WAY HOME. YOU ARE MIXING IT UP BECAUSE RICHIE WOULD SING 80% of the songs .. any real fan of the group should know that. I agree, Richie had a great voice to sing Neils song..
"A Child's Claim To Fame", you left out. I concede, Young wrote much more. Even still, any "real" Buffalo Springfield fan would not diminish Furay's role in the band like you did. You, yourself said that Richie sang 80% of the songs, yet you called him one of the least important and least talented members of the band. Sounds to me,from your prior comment, if Richie Furay had never become a Pastor, you would appreciate his musical ability a hell of alot more.Damn evil guitar playin' Christian!
I look at talent as songwriting and musicianship .. I give less weight to voice. But you made a good poiint. However a child's claim to fame is what I consider a weak song. Again, Richie was only allow to submit one song a record.
No,It was Stills and Young who wrote most. Neil had more songs than Richie. Richie sang many of Neil's songs, so many think those are Richie's, but they aren't.
As I agree with you totally and I didn't write anything to indicate that Neil and Steve didn't write close to 90% of the songs if not more. Richie only wrote one great song - Sad Memory- and for the first record he sang of all Neil written songs except Out Of My Mind. They gave Neil uppers to give him more confidence.
No, the other guy. It screwed up b/c I'd already replied I guess. On Decade, I'm pretty sure he makes the uppers comment about Burned. You sure about Out of My Mind?
I'm not sure what you are saying. I did notice notice I got -5 from intolerant Christians. They can punch Atheists all they want (the American elector would vote a Muslim terrorist as president before an Atheist). George Bush Sr. said Agnostics shouldn't be allowed to vote or be citizens.
I don't mind your ad hominem attacks as they demonstrate you have nothing backing up your vacant, vacuous, transparent, empty ideas. I had a good laugh looking at your juvenile and silly taste in videos - what a bad collection of bad videos on your site; they tell the real story about who has taste and who doesn't.
Please listen to Richie's song "Through it All" from his seasons of change album. If you have a heart at all,you will understand.Every knee will bow,and every tongue will vow.
All apologies to Richie; however, I believe it was the Byrds (Gram Parsons, Chris Hillmann and Roger McGuinn) whom first formally mixed rock with country. The Byrds were likely influenced by the 1950's twangy rockabilly sound from Elvis and Hank Williams then later by folks like Roy Orbison who crossed over to country in the early 60's. Poco was good but they followed others.
Poco came out with their first album around the same time as the Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo , in 1968. Previously, the Byrds were more of a folk-rock band, playing electric and covering Dylan tunes .
Gram Parsons wasn't in the band until later. The main writers was lead singer Gene Clark, David Crosby and Roger McGuinn on guitar. Buffalo Springfield was a contemporary at that time '66 -'67. The Byrds made it a little earlier but both their songs were already written, being played in clubs. Its a similar combination of 2-3 guys from S. California, and 2 from Canada and Texas, to help create the city-country, blues-folk sound of rock n roll. Les Paul / Gibson inventing the elec guitar helped 2
I know rock n roll was earlier (blues and folk music collided in the mid to late 50's, in the midwest-midsouth and chicago). But you're talking country rock which in some genre did come out of LA early-mid 60's from those combined elements.
i'd say it was grams first band, the international submarine band, who were were signed to lee hazlewood's LHI label. gram then left them to join the byrds, making 'sweetheart of the rodeo',followed by the awesome flying burritto brothers.
Boy isn't that the truth unkljer! I've always hated the fact that classic rock radio falls over itself trying to push "Hotel California" down everyone's throat but totally ignores Poco, ESPECIALLY a great song like "A Good Feelin' To Know."
4:08 - Well, Richie, you finally got your heart's desire with the Buffalo Springfield Reunion and the crowds adore you!

Anywayz, Poco, early Poco, was fantastic.
Tight, energetic and totally musical.
Especially the "Orange Crate" record. I listen to it all the time.
