I'm a bit disappointed that people seem to be judging Jesse Michaels from a video on youtube. I went to a show by this band almost a year ago in this awesome, tiny basement in Reno, and I can tell you that it was absolutely incredible. The energy was amazing and it is absolutely still there for him. Plus he is just a really nice guy. If you get the chance, watch this band live.
Jesse Michaels is, in my opinion, the most under appreciated musician ever. i've been listening to his music ever since operation ivy. i even had the cover of "energy" tattooed on my arm when i was 15. still wear it proudly
i actually feel bad for JM. Maybe Im an idiot and Im so offbase...but the spirit that he was talking about is not in this music and it definately isn't in his stage presence. If I ever got a tattoo it is possible it would include lyrics that this guy wrote as AN 18 YEAR OLD KID
But he should have bowed out gracefully. His writing has suffered with age. The "reconciled world" that he talked about years ago happened in the moment, and he should let that moment burn on without tarnishing it
He's a bit weaker on stage than I would have imagined. Strange. But he is a really talanted guy and the music he creates is amongst the best in the world.
Jesse is fucking great, too bad hes not as wild as in op ivy. I still love Common Rider's music though!

i agree on the tattoo thing: the things he wrote with operation ivy were insane

you think the music he currently makes is amongst the best in the world?
i couldn't disagree more.
He is a shell of his former self.

Read this:
This wonderful generosity
A third of our lives (weekends) to do what we please
It doesn't look that great to me
In fact it doesnt even look fair
They call it youthful idealism
And even I would have to agree with them
Except some of us grow up and it's still there
He wrote this at 18??? How is that even possible? These words have the wisdom of a person no younger than 30.
At one point he may have been the greatest punk writer, but no any more.

@SROD12321 whats that from, and its not genius ha, everyone thinks that
JMort95 1 year ago
@JMort95 whats not genius? if you're talking about the lyrics then you can move on cause there's no way anyone can convincingly make that argument
