@ 2:20, the speaker claims to be concerned about what the Muslims would be praying for.
I'd LOVE to hear their follow-up conference call:
"Well.....it appears that our last conference call was much ado about nothing, guys. The Muslims were peaceful, despite several overzealous Christians verbally assaulting them. They prayed for the well-being of our country and said nothing containing ANY ill-will. How do you like that? We had that long, drawn-out call for nothing afterall...."
@ 4:25: "We need to evangelize the Muslim community...." No....you DON'T!! You need to stop ASSuming that we know nothing about the Bible. That what you need to do!
After we had prayer on Aug. 25th, we were leaving and minding our own business while so-called Christians were yelling anti-Islamic propaganda in our ears. When they were confronted by those Muslims who knew the Bible, they couldn't speak in a calm or rational voice. They only came to disrupt a peaceful gathering.
@ 3:58, the speaker states, "....the key to the Muslim community is Jesus Christ". What does he mean by that? I still find it interesting to see so-called Muslims converting to Christianity with the claim "that they'd never heard of Jesus before"... WHAT?? Then it's not possible that they were previously Muslims because Jesus' name (Isa) is in the Holy Qur'àn.
That Lie (4:10) "....this country is founded on Christian truths". WHATEVER!! Treaty of Tripoli (Article 11) ....get to know it!!
When he says that Jesus Christ is the key, he's saying that it is not enough to know that Jesus existed, but to know that Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins. As far as people that have been converted, I can only assume that they may have meant that they did not have a personal relationship with Jesus, but now do. Or they may not have been muslims as you said. I would need an actual quote as to ensure I don't take it out of context, here-say doesn't mean much.
If I did not say so directly, let me do so now....I am a former Christian and need not be "taught the theology of Christianity". I know EXACTLY what he meant. I also know what we believe, as Muslims. And that is one point that we don't believe....no matter how much you or anyone else states it. On that point, we have reached a level of maturity to agree to disagree and keep it moving.
My acquaintance with those people isn't hearsay. I can only believe what they've told me.
Well I figured you already knew the answer to the question, but you did ask. You're very fortunate to understand both sides of the arguement, but for a Christain it is more then just understanding the theology, it is having a personal relationship with God through Christ.
As for the converts, I'm not doubting they have said that, but it's not a question to ask me, but the person who said it. I won't know the context of what they ment unless I were to ask them myself as I might misinterpret it.
But my point is: where is the real interfaith dialog? If the pretext is, we heathen Muslims come to sit at the feet of the all-wise, all-knowing holier-than-thou Christians, please keep my invitation to this meeting.
If we're not seen as equals, then enters the holier-than-thou mentality.
As I stated before, MOST converts to Islam (in the US) know the Bible (particularly in the Black community). It was the ONLY religion the slaves were allowed to practice openly.
DeucePrez, I appreciate our conversation. I appologised to you for not chosing the right words and coming across as biased against Islam. Interfaith Dialog is very important and was lacking on this video until now. Although I do believer there are Christians out there who my have the Holier-than-thou mentality, that isn't what Christianity teaches. The Bible says all our righteous acts are as filthy rags. Christanity is not for the greatness of man, but the greatness of Jesus.
But the goal of interfaith dialog is not to convert one another. I've participated in interfaith dialog before and since 9/11. No one ever approached me to attempt to convert me. At least, not to my knowledge. The only time I saw an inequity was when I offered to do the sermon (kutbah), I never got a reply from the minister who'd done the sermons in the past.
Coversion is a choice, and dialog doesn't mean anything for conversion unless the Holy Spirit is involved. Regardless, interfaith dialog is important and I'm glad we had this chat. Although we may have differences in opinion, we can both agree that we are equals. I don't believe the people behind sept.11 are true reflection of muslim faith and I hope you don't believe that christains with a Holier-than-thou attitude is a true reflect the christian faith. God Bless DeucePrez!
I know of a few people that converted from Islam to Christianity. They were adults when they made the decisions (to go from Christianity to Islam and then back to Christianity), so that is their prerogative. It has no affect on my, doesn't take away my salvation (as my decision did not depend on them), so I don't wish them any harm or ill will.
Speaker like this need to stop blaming Islam and start to blame the individuals who think and/or act a particular way.
As Far as if anyone prayed for or against america at the event is irrelevant, because no one assumed that anyone was going to, but had a good reason to because its a fact that Muslim extremists do exist in America. The muslims behind sept.11 did live in the USA and even took training for flying the planes in the USA, you your analogy of a ship sinking doesn't defend that fact that these people exist as they killed them selves in the process when they flew the planes into the buildings.
If the people who flew the planes into the towers were true muslims or not is a different debate all together. As far as Christanity is concerned there are people who claim to be Christain, but do not live the values of it as well. You may have ran into some of the at this prayer event, but they do not reflect Christanity as a whole. Unfortunately we both have "bad apples" as it were, and my our religions look bad.
I agree with your comment to a degree. While we can come to a conclusion that not all who claim to be Christians necessarily practice Christianity, I'm concerned that we cannot both come to the same conclusion on those who claim to be Muslim but conduct themselves otherwise.
Those involved in 9/11 apparently lived in the U.S. to train in flying such planes and (obviously) had no plans of "living" in the U.S. (or anywhere else, for that matter) very long. VERY un-Islamic to harm innocents.
As for the speaker @ 3:50, PLEASE stop lying by claiming that "....the U.S. is founded on Christian beliefs". The Treaty of Tripoli bears witness to the fact that that claim. Look it up on Google...specifically Article 11.
Read it and weep (if you so choose)....but DO stop the lying.
This isn't an Anti-Muslim video as the title suggests. They do not want to impose on religious freedom, only that they want to pray for Muslims and that the focus of the Muslims praying will be for the well being of the nation. And because they are Christians and believe that Jesus is the true savior they would like everyone to be saved by preaching the gospel before it's too late. Most comments in here are Anti-Christian, while falsely claiming Christians hate Muslims all at the same time.
How is my comment anti-Islamic and how am I being a bigot? I also fail to see how anyone is assuming anything ether. If you pray for the well being of your son, would you be assuming that something is going to happen to him? No. You're asking for God's devine protection in case something were to happen. In this case it's a prayer that if any extremist muslims are there that might view the actions of sept.11 as a good thing, that God might reveal the error of their thinking, and pray for America.
I'll give you credit; at least you're open to "listening". Here's how:
Take your reply to my post, for example. You're putting me in the position of a subordinate. Why not an equal? If I'm praying for my son, he's subordinate to me (i.e. I'm responsible for his upbringing, not the other way around).
Secondly, you're assuming the position/mindset that Christianity is "superior" to any and all other faiths. That's the bigotry.
You're using a strawman aguement, because you're distorting my may statement to be something else. Perhaps I could have used a better anology, but the purpose of my analogy was to show that someone can pray for someone else with out assuming that something wrong is going to happen. So please address my actual point by answering this question: If you pray for someones protection, are you infact assuming that the person is infact going to be harmed?
But I listened to the speakers. They weren't "generically" asking God to protect them/us. Protect them from what? What danger were we facing with all of those Muslims gathered on the Mall?
While we hear of factional/political murders within the Muslim community abroad, we hear none of that within the U.S. as it is nonexistent. I work with Shia Muslims and I would guess that I'd be considered Sunni. I don't use such titles myself. I am just a Muslim.
Christains would pray for the conversion of all people to christanity, it's a normal practice. If you feel Islam is the way everyone one should go I would hope you would pray that everyones conversion to Islam. I for one hope that you and I both will enjoy Heaven and worshop the Father together someday.
But as far as my question with out an analogy, here it is: Can you pray that someone, that they make a right choice, with out assuming an absolute that the person will make a wrong choice?
Allow me to clear up that misconception about Islam and Muslims for you. Here is our mindset: If you're a Christian or Jew, as a Muslim, I IMPLORE you to be the BEST Christian or Jew that you can be.
In that case I you dont mind if Christians were to pray for Muslims to convert to Christianty then, because by doing so they would be the BEST Christain they can be. However that doesn't excuse disruptions Christians may have made during the prayer meeting, that would be a seperate issue.
But they are already Muslims! Where's the reciprocity in your verbiage? Why won't/can't the Christians simply pray that the Muslims be the BEST Muslims that they can be??
The definition of the word "Muslim" is one who submits their will to do the will of God/Allàh. Non-Muslims should not be too caught-up on semantics and the use of Arabic words. Just like Jehovah is not an English name (NOTE: the English language was non-existent when the original Bible was written).
I don't take the position that Islam is better than Christianity for someone else. The Holy Qur'àn speak favorably of Christians and Jews for obey the word of God.
I guess the only real religious/faith conflicts I have is with polytheists and atheists.
There is only ONE God who created the heavens and the earth and everything therein. I serve that God. I just don't call Him by that which He created.
Based on your own standard you believe yourself to be a bigot, as your religion/faith conflicts with polytheists and atheists. But I don't see it the same way you do, just because someone has a different religion I don't feel superior to anyone, you made that assumption by misinterpreting my previous analogy, but perhaps I could have used a better analogy to be more clear. You have still failed to show how I was being anti-islamic in my original statement aswell.
No. Now you're reading into my posts. They are free to live as they choose. I work with people who are polytheists and we have no conflicts. They just believe in that which I do not and vice versa.
I won't try to impose my beliefs onto them like what the protesters did (tried to do) to us on the Mall.
We, likewise, are free to live as we choose, which includes worshiping God in the manner as it was revealed to us to do.
Are you saying that Islam & Judaism are equal to Christianity then?
All throughout this video, the speakers speak against the Muslims as if the Muslim community was evil and/or silent against evil that comes from the minority in the Muslim community. As one in the Muslim community, I know that to be a flat-out LIE.
One speaker made innuendos of what the Muslims would pray for on Capital Hill on Aug. 25th. Had they but waited or just had the slightest familiarity with the Muslim community, as a WHOLE, they would not have made such an ignorant comment.
I want to make it clear that I also admire how dedicated Muslims are to want to have a connection with God. It's truely inspiring. I have muslim friends and although we and conflicting theologies we respect one another faith. It's important for Muslims and Christians to have interfaith dialog, to understand the grounds we have in common and what we disagree with.
As an attendee of the Muslim Prayer on Capitol Hill, I heard no manner of evil or malice from the Muslims speaking or those in attendance at this event.
The only disruptions during (and after) this event came from so-called Christian protesters. It's always an assumption that we know nothing of Christianity. Many of us, particularly in the Black community, were made Christians. That's all our we knew at that time. So, there's no need in trying to convert us. Been there, done that.
Just so you'll know, there are vids of the Aug. 25th event on YouTube. The speakers DID pray FOR (not AGAINST) America.
To you and others:
How foolish & self-defeating would it be for the passenger of a ship, in the middle of the ocean....during a terrible storm, to wish it to sink to the bottom of the ocean whilst they're riding on this ship?? Get real....!! Think about it...!!
Not one ill prayer or statement was made against this country at this event.
As far as the speaker of the video is concerned, he did not claim the Muslim community was evil, but that he hopes to hear the Muslim communty denounce the actions of terrorism that were made in the name of Islam. I'm sure most muslims have, however his statement that the muslim community has been silent would not be a flat lie, but based on what he has observed / his perpective. He might be wrong, but it's not a lie.
And that's where you've missed my point....again. From the moment everyone regained access to the Net, there was constant coverage of the 9/11 tragedy. I work in a gov't. building (in DC) and we lost all Net access when the 1st plane crashed. We also had spotty cell service for most of the day (DC area).
Within 2 days, many Islamic organizations (including CAIR) STRONGLY DENOUNCED this violent, un-Islamic act. It went completely against the teachings of Islam to commit such an act.
Im not reading into your comment, I'll quote what you said "Your comment are anti-islamic" and then after I made a comment where I used an analogy about praying for someone, you took it out of context and superimposed the idea that I was "assuming the position/mindset that Christianity is "superior"." Which is false. You have yet to answer my preivous question after I clearified my position about my analogy, and you have yet to show how my original comment was anti-islamic.
Let me clarify my statement(s): I was addressing the speakers in this vid. They are CLEARLY not giving a "generic" prayer.
Please leave out the analogies and explain what you mean (in your initial comment). For now, I will apologize TO YOU ONLY for stating that you were bigoted in that initial comment.
However, YOU did implicate yourself in a later comment ("....I admire how Muslims want a relationship with God"....or something to that affect). That's a bigoted comment, by far.
Im sorry that you interpreted my statement in a negative way. I was trying to say that Muslims thrist God and desire a deep relationship with God and have a strong dedication to their faith and that I find it inspiring. Sometimes I get too caught up in my life that I ignore my thirst to God, a thirst for God is unquenchable.
I've apologized for misspeaking, but "you're right in everything you've stated so far". But I've pointed out a few point where you're clearly biased against Islam. Yet, it appears that you're not willing to give an inch.
As I stated before, if he chooses to take Fox Not-Necessarily-the-News as his "source of information", he'll have a true "fair and balanced" (as Fox LIES and claims) view of the Muslims. They'd NEVER give the Muslims an opportunity to speak their minds and defend themselves without some loud-mouthed, lying pundit also being simo-interviewed with them. In fact, this also applies to other MSM outlets.
In fact, the campaign "Not in the Name of Islam" was launched by CAIR months later.
Muslims NEVER condemn atrocities. They never stand up for minorities in Muslim lands, no matter how great the injustice. The silence from the Muslim community is indeed DEAFENING.
Dude even though are so bias and anti 1)Judeao/Christian. I favored this great video! It's makes them look so Holy Crying out for sins of this Nation telling the Truth that all people what ever religion needs the Son of God Jesus Christ.
Guy, you can be saved from you sin and have eternal life in Jesus Christ who loves and Died on the Roman Cross for your sins and mine.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
KJV
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Us Christians need to really look at our radical beginnings and how many people were killed in the name of Jesus! How easily does White America forget where we really come from! All the religious right wing knows how to do is point fingers! Preach love and leave politics out of it!
These people are as RADICAL AS BIN LADEN. I have been saying it for years now and people are finally getting to see it in the mainstream.
They attack people and spread lies all in the name of God. They attack your children sexually and accuse gays of doing that when in FACT it is the so called str8 people who have been busted time and time again.
Look not further than Ted Haggard who was attacking gays then got BUSTED having anal sex and SMOKING METH. These people are delusional, a cult, evil
They're worse than Bin Laden. While both Bin Laden and these ChrisTalebanians think they are the only ones who are right, have a personal connection to God and are incapable of seeing the other person's point of view, this lot is more dangerous because they are a) considered 'harmless'/'kooks' and even worse, 'mainstream representation of many Americans' and b) have access to minds of children. Not disenfranchised teenagers, but children. These monsters are the worst.
some idiot said: "They are so racist. Wow." What race do you think she's talking about? Islam is a religion, silly. Not a race. And if you want to know about religious bigotry, read the koran!
Yeah, the Qu'ran is pretty awful in terms of appearing tolerant; unless you're a Jew, Christian, or Zoroastrian.
TBH, the Bible is worse, with its genocides in Joshua and Samuel, and Moses's brutal mass-rapes, pillaging, and murders in Canaan. So, honestly, all religious mindsets make people into narrow-minded, dogma-obeying zombies. And it's high time they were held accountable for believing stupid, outrageous, narrow-minded things. Fuck "people of faith."
btw, the Christian Right's insane nationalistic anti-Islam hysteria is a form of religious bigotry. Christian pastors brainwashing a 17 year old muslim child is DEFINITELY bigotry. And I'm more than certain that a lot of the anti-Islamic sentiment has to do with race; most Muslims aren't white, and Conservative Christians in the U.S. have an extensive history of racial intolerance.
Actually....They are right. Can't wait for America to realise what they have let themseves in for. LOL Come see London. Come see what you have coming down the road with Muslims. You are going to wish your mothers never met your fathers.LOL. Right now your Politicians are sewing the seeds of your destruction. You Yanks have no idea....Sad really.
Ah, a Daily Mail reader/BNP supporter. How wonderful. What's your problem with London? Too many foreigners and not enough white faces for your liking?
Yes, come see London. One of the greatest cities on earth, teaming with cultures and people from all over the world, a hub of art, history and civilization, where people, for the most part, get on with one another irrespective of race/religion/creed.
I have read the Daily mail not one time in forty years. Plus the two subscriptions on my "Channel" I can't figure out how to get rid of. I do, however, know one thing....There is bad stuff coming down the road in Europe with Islam, If you can't see that you are blind. Or daft. Islam is on the move. They historically have never stopped until "we" stopped them with massive bloodshed.(El Cid Martel Sobieski) You a Muslim? If not keep your head in the sand its easier on the mind mate.
She's a stupid bitch. And ah... the Muslim preacher said that America is the best place to live in the world. How is that not in the "well being" of America? Who is he to pretty much call us all terrorists? This man, is a terrorist.
Hearing people like this say "The ideas of Islam are incompatible with the ideas of democracy on the one hand and then telling you on the other that we need to "EMBRACE CHRISTIANITY"... SO WE NEED TO TRADE ONE IDIOCY FOR ANOTHER? JERKOFFS!
"The notion that faith in Christ is to be rewarded by an eternity of bliss, while a dependence upon reason, observation and experience merits everlasting pain, is too absurd for refutation, and can be relieved only by that unhappy mixture of insanity and ignorance, called "faith." - Robert G. Ingersoll in "The Gods"
a shield of prayer??? hilarious!! Prayer is just a form of talking to yourself. It's useless. No god has ever been involved in the affairs of human primates.
In a perfect world the Christians would pray away the Muslims and the Muslims would pray away the Christians, without people who think the earth is "only 10,000" years old this country could be a great place to live. Please in the name of "your god" kill each other off already!!
Lemme get this straight: as Xians, they don't believe in Allah, the god of Islam, but they're worried about what the Muslims might pray for? Someone tell me if I read that wrong. The old cliche': "This is a Christian country", okay, why is there no national Christian church may I ask?
There is the narrative of country, a supposed Christian foundation, heritage, individual liberty, self-government, etc. There is the narrative of Jesus' life, death and resurrection. The first narrative is political idolatry; the second is the word of God, faith revealed in Jesus Christ. They are mutually exclusive. Unless or until we accept that, we do not humble ourselves or turn from our ways. Until we do, God will smite us again and again and again and again and again.
Also, the US was founded by a bunch of men that hated the church, and everything it stood for, a few were religious, but many were not.
Why do you say "turn from our ways?" You mean except and follow the Ten Commandments? Listen I am a moral, responsible individual, I don't need no damn book to tell me how to treat men and women. If your Jesus was here today, tell me would he except everyone? Gays, Abortionists, War Mongers, Murders, etc. Would he?
Thanks, GBTRU! Did you note, "supposed" Christian foundation? "Our ways" refers to the Manichean (heretical) brand of Christianity seen here. Jesus' ties were quite scandalous. As for war-mongers and murderers, he leveled that charge against the power brokers of his day (See Mt 23:27-32). If God doesn't exist, you would postulate yourself as the arbiter of your own righteousness -- as you already do. Since you chuck the book, exactly what founds the objective ethical standards by which you live?
I don't understand it. We as humans have gone through wars that killed millions. Every advisory thought God was on their side. It is so stupid that people continue to evoke God, as their brother in arms. Theology is for the weak.
I and a friend, years ago, ran into a woman spewing Xian tripe. Granted, we were doing them same, anyway, after we had gotten out of earshot I said that religion invokes strong emotion, and strong emotions and a weak mind is a dangerous combination.
Wntoply6: Only if you have not accepted Jesus as your personal savior, or of fighting age, or in one of the border states between Jesusland and the blue states(Kentucky in 1864).
and you sir or madam are ad dangerous as tony perkins.
it's you're sickness that will lead to another civil war. remember you in the south thought you had god on your side then as you did during the time of martin luther king. where was god then for you?
i can't wait for the final civil war in this country when your racist attitudes, hatered, ignorance and intolerance is actually banned by the constitution!
Dude, I was parodying them. I'm really a northern urban liberal buddhist-christian. I guess my parody was too good, I though I was over the top, apparently the world is worse off than I thought if what I said was plausible. I had a greatX grandfather in the civil war.... on the winning side ;-)

The muslims behind sept.11 did live in the USA and even took training for flying the planes in the USA, you your analogy of a ship sinking doesn't defend that fact that these people exist as they killed them selves in the process when they flew the planes into the buildings.
lurasman 2 years ago
If the people who flew the planes into the towers were true muslims or not is a different debate all together. As far as Christanity is concerned there are people who claim to be Christain, but do not live the values of it as well. You may have ran into some of the at this prayer event, but they do not reflect Christanity as a whole. Unfortunately we both have "bad apples" as it were, and my our religions look bad.
lurasman 2 years ago
I agree with your comment to a degree. While we can come to a conclusion that not all who claim to be Christians necessarily practice Christianity, I'm concerned that we cannot both come to the same conclusion on those who claim to be Muslim but conduct themselves otherwise.
Those involved in 9/11 apparently lived in the U.S. to train in flying such planes and (obviously) had no plans of "living" in the U.S. (or anywhere else, for that matter) very long. VERY un-Islamic to harm innocents.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
As for the speaker @ 3:50, PLEASE stop lying by claiming that "....the U.S. is founded on Christian beliefs". The Treaty of Tripoli bears witness to the fact that that claim. Look it up on Google...specifically Article 11.
Read it and weep (if you so choose)....but DO stop the lying.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
This isn't an Anti-Muslim video as the title suggests. They do not want to impose on religious freedom, only that they want to pray for Muslims and that the focus of the Muslims praying will be for the well being of the nation. And because they are Christians and believe that Jesus is the true savior they would like everyone to be saved by preaching the gospel before it's too late. Most comments in here are Anti-Christian, while falsely claiming Christians hate Muslims all at the same time.
lurasman 2 years ago
This video AND your comment are anti-Islamic / anti-Muslim. You're just too blinded by your Christian overzealous bigotry to see it.
The ongoing lie is that there is no outcry in the Islamic community against terrorism. Few bigger lies have been told!
Why not wait until after the Muslim prayer on the Mall to critique it vs. ASSuming what they might pray about??!!
Lastly, Ramadan is 29 -30 days......NEVER one day more than that!! But that shows a lack of understanding of Islam.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
How is my comment anti-Islamic and how am I being a bigot? I also fail to see how anyone is assuming anything ether. If you pray for the well being of your son, would you be assuming that something is going to happen to him? No. You're asking for God's devine protection in case something were to happen. In this case it's a prayer that if any extremist muslims are there that might view the actions of sept.11 as a good thing, that God might reveal the error of their thinking, and pray for America.
lurasman 2 years ago
lurasman:
I'll give you credit; at least you're open to "listening". Here's how:
Take your reply to my post, for example. You're putting me in the position of a subordinate. Why not an equal? If I'm praying for my son, he's subordinate to me (i.e. I'm responsible for his upbringing, not the other way around).
Secondly, you're assuming the position/mindset that Christianity is "superior" to any and all other faiths. That's the bigotry.
I don't make said assumption.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
You're using a strawman aguement, because you're distorting my may statement to be something else. Perhaps I could have used a better anology, but the purpose of my analogy was to show that someone can pray for someone else with out assuming that something wrong is going to happen. So please address my actual point by answering this question: If you pray for someones protection, are you infact assuming that the person is infact going to be harmed?
lurasman 2 years ago
That, alone, is true.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
lurasman:
Please be specific without using an analogy. What were these people praying for (exactly)?
As I stated earlier, these people (in the vid) weren't praying for the Muslims' protection against some un-named danger.
As I heard, they were praying for their....our conversion from Islam to Christianity.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
Christains would pray for the conversion of all people to christanity, it's a normal practice. If you feel Islam is the way everyone one should go I would hope you would pray that everyones conversion to Islam. I for one hope that you and I both will enjoy Heaven and worshop the Father together someday.
But as far as my question with out an analogy, here it is: Can you pray that someone, that they make a right choice, with out assuming an absolute that the person will make a wrong choice?
lurasman 2 years ago
lurasman:
Allow me to clear up that misconception about Islam and Muslims for you. Here is our mindset: If you're a Christian or Jew, as a Muslim, I IMPLORE you to be the BEST Christian or Jew that you can be.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
In that case I you dont mind if Christians were to pray for Muslims to convert to Christianty then, because by doing so they would be the BEST Christain they can be. However that doesn't excuse disruptions Christians may have made during the prayer meeting, that would be a seperate issue.
lurasman 2 years ago
??
But they are already Muslims! Where's the reciprocity in your verbiage? Why won't/can't the Christians simply pray that the Muslims be the BEST Muslims that they can be??
The definition of the word "Muslim" is one who submits their will to do the will of God/Allàh. Non-Muslims should not be too caught-up on semantics and the use of Arabic words. Just like Jehovah is not an English name (NOTE: the English language was non-existent when the original Bible was written).
DeucePrez 2 years ago
lurasman:
I don't take the position that Islam is better than Christianity for someone else. The Holy Qur'àn speak favorably of Christians and Jews for obey the word of God.
I guess the only real religious/faith conflicts I have is with polytheists and atheists.
There is only ONE God who created the heavens and the earth and everything therein. I serve that God. I just don't call Him by that which He created.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
Based on your own standard you believe yourself to be a bigot, as your religion/faith conflicts with polytheists and atheists. But I don't see it the same way you do, just because someone has a different religion I don't feel superior to anyone, you made that assumption by misinterpreting my previous analogy, but perhaps I could have used a better analogy to be more clear. You have still failed to show how I was being anti-islamic in my original statement aswell.
lurasman 2 years ago
DeucePrez 2 years ago
All throughout this video, the speakers speak against the Muslims as if the Muslim community was evil and/or silent against evil that comes from the minority in the Muslim community. As one in the Muslim community, I know that to be a flat-out LIE.
One speaker made innuendos of what the Muslims would pray for on Capital Hill on Aug. 25th. Had they but waited or just had the slightest familiarity with the Muslim community, as a WHOLE, they would not have made such an ignorant comment.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
I want to make it clear that I also admire how dedicated Muslims are to want to have a connection with God. It's truely inspiring. I have muslim friends and although we and conflicting theologies we respect one another faith. It's important for Muslims and Christians to have interfaith dialog, to understand the grounds we have in common and what we disagree with.
lurasman 2 years ago
lurasman:
As an attendee of the Muslim Prayer on Capitol Hill, I heard no manner of evil or malice from the Muslims speaking or those in attendance at this event.
The only disruptions during (and after) this event came from so-called Christian protesters. It's always an assumption that we know nothing of Christianity. Many of us, particularly in the Black community, were made Christians. That's all our we knew at that time. So, there's no need in trying to convert us. Been there, done that.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
lurasman:
Just so you'll know, there are vids of the Aug. 25th event on YouTube. The speakers DID pray FOR (not AGAINST) America.
To you and others:
How foolish & self-defeating would it be for the passenger of a ship, in the middle of the ocean....during a terrible storm, to wish it to sink to the bottom of the ocean whilst they're riding on this ship?? Get real....!! Think about it...!!
Not one ill prayer or statement was made against this country at this event.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
As far as the speaker of the video is concerned, he did not claim the Muslim community was evil, but that he hopes to hear the Muslim communty denounce the actions of terrorism that were made in the name of Islam. I'm sure most muslims have, however his statement that the muslim community has been silent would not be a flat lie, but based on what he has observed / his perpective. He might be wrong, but it's not a lie.

lurasman:
And that's where you've missed my point....again. From the moment everyone regained access to the Net, there was constant coverage of the 9/11 tragedy. I work in a gov't. building (in DC) and we lost all Net access when the 1st plane crashed. We also had spotty cell service for most of the day (DC area).
Within 2 days, many Islamic organizations (including CAIR) STRONGLY DENOUNCED this violent, un-Islamic act. It went completely against the teachings of Islam to commit such an act.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
Im not reading into your comment, I'll quote what you said "Your comment are anti-islamic" and then after I made a comment where I used an analogy about praying for someone, you took it out of context and superimposed the idea that I was "assuming the position/mindset that Christianity is "superior"." Which is false. You have yet to answer my preivous question after I clearified my position about my analogy, and you have yet to show how my original comment was anti-islamic.
lurasman 2 years ago
lurasman:
Let me clarify my statement(s): I was addressing the speakers in this vid. They are CLEARLY not giving a "generic" prayer.
Please leave out the analogies and explain what you mean (in your initial comment). For now, I will apologize TO YOU ONLY for stating that you were bigoted in that initial comment.
However, YOU did implicate yourself in a later comment ("....I admire how Muslims want a relationship with God"....or something to that affect). That's a bigoted comment, by far.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
Apology accepted.
Im sorry that you interpreted my statement in a negative way. I was trying to say that Muslims thrist God and desire a deep relationship with God and have a strong dedication to their faith and that I find it inspiring. Sometimes I get too caught up in my life that I ignore my thirst to God, a thirst for God is unquenchable.
lurasman 2 years ago
Ok....but would you say the same thing about the Christian and/or Jewish community?
DeucePrez 2 years ago
Here's what I'm noticing in this thread:
I've apologized for misspeaking, but "you're right in everything you've stated so far". But I've pointed out a few point where you're clearly biased against Islam. Yet, it appears that you're not willing to give an inch.
DeucePrez 2 years ago
lurasman:
As I stated before, if he chooses to take Fox Not-Necessarily-the-News as his "source of information", he'll have a true "fair and balanced" (as Fox LIES and claims) view of the Muslims. They'd NEVER give the Muslims an opportunity to speak their minds and defend themselves without some loud-mouthed, lying pundit also being simo-interviewed with them. In fact, this also applies to other MSM outlets.
In fact, the campaign "Not in the Name of Islam" was launched by CAIR months later.

Not a race. And if you want to know about religious bigotry, read the koran!
heartstorm 2 years ago
Yeah, the Qu'ran is pretty awful in terms of appearing tolerant; unless you're a Jew, Christian, or Zoroastrian.
TBH, the Bible is worse, with its genocides in Joshua and Samuel, and Moses's brutal mass-rapes, pillaging, and murders in Canaan. So, honestly, all religious mindsets make people into narrow-minded, dogma-obeying zombies. And it's high time they were held accountable for believing stupid, outrageous, narrow-minded things. Fuck "people of faith."
AntidoteY 2 years ago
btw, the Christian Right's insane nationalistic anti-Islam hysteria is a form of religious bigotry.

Consider your ways.
KeeperOfTheWord 2 years ago
What if there is no God?
Also, the US was founded by a bunch of men that hated the church, and everything it stood for, a few were religious, but many were not.
Why do you say "turn from our ways?" You mean except and follow the Ten Commandments? Listen I am a moral, responsible individual, I don't need no damn book to tell me how to treat men and women. If your Jesus was here today, tell me would he except everyone? Gays, Abortionists, War Mongers, Murders, etc. Would he?
GBTRU 2 years ago
Thanks, GBTRU! Did you note, "supposed" Christian foundation? "Our ways" refers to the Manichean (heretical) brand of Christianity seen here. Jesus' ties were quite scandalous. As for war-mongers and murderers, he leveled that charge against the power brokers of his day (See Mt 23:27-32). If God doesn't exist, you would postulate yourself as the arbiter of your own righteousness -- as you already do. Since you chuck the book, exactly what founds the objective ethical standards by which you live?
