We have the same tradition! Our grandpa always bought them for us. When we were younger he would put them right outside of the front door, then knock the wall claiming Santa had just dropped them off, knocked the door and ran like he was doing some kind of ding-dong-ditch prank.
Every year for as long as I can remember, i've always had the paper Christmas links. 25 pieces of paper linked together in rings (alternating red and green construction paper). Every night before bed, you take one off. That was our countdown to Christmas. And on Christmas eve, we'd go the the Christmas eve service then come home and someone would read both A Christmas Carol and The Night Before Christmas before bed.
We have that tradition, too! Open one gift on Christmas Eve. Except this is the one year in the history of my entire life that we didn't do that? I have no idea why. I think I'mma go open one now. haha
We also have a tradition I started my senior year. I coloured a Santa and brought him home and showed my mom. Then hid it. And whoever finds it hides it next. It's great fun. :)

In my house the tradition is that Mom hides the presents in all kinds of strange places: it's a looot of fun! Nice "meeting" your sister :)
